To ask why everyone hates Corbyn?

timeaftertime79 · 31/10/2019 21:38

I’d genuinely like to see some facts and reasons as to why Corbyn is so awful that people would choose voting Tory (and people dying) over him.

Genuine reasons that are factual ... I’m wondering what information I seem to be missing that everyone else is seeing?

I Don’t hate him , I don’t hate any politician

Part of the reason we are in such a
Mess is all this ‘hating’

I do think he as been largely ineffective at a time when we need someone more effective

In his Place I would be thinking of the bigger picture and encouraging others to step up

Alltheprettyseahorses · 01/11/2019 07:18

the majority of anti Corbyn sentiment is based on fabrication or twisting his words

You mean knowing what he has/hasn't done over the decades and taking what a 70 yo career politician who has been an MP for 36 years actually says out of his own mouth at face value. Are his own columns a fabrication? Letters? Arrests? Filmed speeches? Was it all a 40 year conspiracy against him? Or could it be that Corbyn has shown himself to be a less than mediocre politician and a totally useless LotO? The last 4 years have been such a bloody waste of time.

AuntieMarys · 01/11/2019 07:20

A great shame John Smith died

Skinnychip · 01/11/2019 07:20

I mostly listened to his speech yesterday and there were a lot of attractive freebies on offer, free uni fees, free social care.....all funded by very small tax increases on only the very high earners (who he despises) Not sure that they will all stick around to pay for that , or will have some creative way of on paper not being such a high earner.
I say this as someone who earns less than the average wage (and so does DH)

Lazypuppy · 01/11/2019 07:21

Corbyns approach to defence scares me. He says he would never use our nuclear deterrent and would massively reduce the defence budget if PM.

For me, i will vote conservative over him

Skinnychip · 01/11/2019 07:24

And while the have Tories have been in chaos in the last few years Labour has wasted a perfect opportunity to be a credible opposition party and persuade many disillusioned tories or swing voters. And JC has even now not completely got off the fence over Brexit.
I agree with a pp things could have been very different had a different Milliband brother been leader.....

StreetwiseHercules · 01/11/2019 07:30

“ He doesn't like Jews and doesn't mind other people not liking Jews.”

So your media would have you believe.

It is though perfectly legitimate to dislike Israel and even Judaism. I think Israel is a rogue terror state. It even produced nuclear weapons in secret, against international law, and should have been invaded.

I also deplore non medical circumcision. I guess if that makes me anti-Semitic it also makes me anti-American.

Jews are not special, magical people for whom criticism of their ideals and commonly heals ideologies is forbidden. And every Jew I know would agree.

TheGoogleMum · 01/11/2019 07:30

@Lazypuppy having visited the Hiroshima peace museum I think less nuclear weapons is the way to go. I think many of us would revolt if it was ever used and it's expensive so there is no point having it. If we want a nuclear weapon free world we have to lead the change.

Celticdawn5 · 01/11/2019 07:34

Very good point @Lazypuppy about the defence budget

derxa · 01/11/2019 07:40

Because he’s my MP and his constituency is a total shithole with the highest waiting lists for social housing in the country and one of the highest rates of gang murder, despite his 35 ish years as MP.
This is the nub of it.

MrsDoylesTea · 01/11/2019 07:51

He's economically illiterate and will is the absolute embodiment of a career politician - he's never known anything else than disagreeing and campaigning.

His front bench are frightening - the thought of not just Diane Abbott as Home Secretary, but John McDonell as Chancellor and Rebecca Long_Bailey as business secretary is just shocking.

He peddles the politics of envy, and I am horrified by how many people can even entertain the idea of him as PM - we genuinely will see many people (and not just the 'rich') leave - and we will be in an even worse state than in the 70s. I wish people could understand just how damaging his Marxist policies will be to this country!

ooooohbetty · 01/11/2019 07:58

I dont hate him. I think that he's a fool though. Cutting the defence budget. Abolition of private education, 32 hour working week, privatisation of gas and electric companies and others, etc etc.

BertrandRussell · 01/11/2019 08:03

“ Cutting the defence budget. Abolition of private education, 32 hour working week, privatisation of gas and electric companies and others, etc etc.”
Is the Manifesto out already?

bellinisurge · 01/11/2019 08:04

"Jews are not special, magical people for whom criticism of their ideals and commonly heals ideologies is forbidden. And every Jew I know would agree."
No, but within living memory, Jews were singled out for a programme of industrial scale murder and naice people either pretended it wasn't happening or ignored it.

SeaWitchly · 01/11/2019 08:08

I will be voting for Labour and Jeremy Corbyn.
The anti-Semitic and pro-terrorist arguments are pretty tenuous imo.

SeaWitchly · 01/11/2019 08:12

I also don’t believe everyone hates him.... that is media propaganda and claptrap. Some do of course and others are indifferent. But there are also a lot of us who would love to see him as PM.

FishCanFly · 01/11/2019 08:13

My family will vote for him. Just to piss off the cons.
And screw private education, nuclear weapons, and Israel.

WineIsMyCarb · 01/11/2019 08:14

Ah, the same media that is controlled by Jews @StreetwiseHercules. We hear you loud and clear.

I'm not Jewish, in case that makes a shred of fucking difference.

Criticise the military policy of Israel, by all means. But don't call people whose stated political aim is to destroy a nation state your 'friends'. Also do refrain from turning a blind eye while Jewish members and supporters of your party are bullied, threatened and intimidated. It's also one step further to have a mate conduct a review into 'alleged antisemitism' in the party, find nothing at all (contrary to evidence presented directly to her investigation) and immediately afford her an honour of state.

If Jews are not 'special magical people' to be singled out, why are you so angry about the military policy of the only Jewish nation state on the planet? Do you feel as strongly about Iran, France, Saudi, USA, China, the UK, etc etc?

HelleborusNiger · 01/11/2019 08:14

I don't think he's been an effective leader of the opposition. I don't think he communicates a clear vision for Labour, he doesn't unite them. I don't see him as a 'statesmanlike' figure who could lead the nation and influence other countries.
My Labour MP is amazing.... but your vote is also somehow meant to express your choice of MP, PM and Brexit....... Its like a Venn diagram but no one is in the overlap for me.....

Paintedmaypole · 01/11/2019 08:16

Someone asked me last night why on earth I was asking for evidence that Corbyn is anti semetic when it was all over the press. The reason is that I don't automatically believe what the press write and I wanted direct evidence of him writing or saying something racist. I will read the links when I have time today and see what direct evidence there is.

otterturk · 01/11/2019 08:17

His housing policies. He's argued for "right to buy" to be extended to private tenants. As a private landlord - one who doesn't raise rents year on year and who keeps the property to a high standard and fixes anything immediately - I don't fancy having the investment from my post tax income stolen, funnily enough. It shits all over basic property rights.

Also - refusing to attend a parliamentary function because the Israeli ambassador was there while happily inviting Hamas etc to tea. Twat.

bellinisurge · 01/11/2019 08:19

So a photo of a mural which everyone can see has a standard anti Semitic image on it but which Corbyn thought was fiiiiine. That's no evidence of him indulging antisemitism?
And having his photo taken shaking Gerry Adams' hand JUST AFTER THE BRIGHTON BOMB, that's not evidence of just poor judgement (at best)?

FishCanFly · 01/11/2019 08:20

Do you feel as strongly about Iran, France, Saudi, USA, China, the UK, etc etc?
I do. I'm against nuclear weapons but i think Saudis should be nuked. I'm not sure about Iran. And USA at the moment really sucks.

Chloemol · 01/11/2019 08:21

@ timeaftertime79.

Where to start! He is a terrorist sympathiser, inviting Gerry Adams into the hOP shortly after the Brighton bomb supports Palestine terrorist, been seen inviting them to events, etc etc. You are an idiot if you think this is because he wants peace He is a Marxist. Momentum has been allowed to bully and cajole people in his name, he wants to take the country back to the seventies by renationalising everything, and having suffered three day weeks, power cuts etc as a child I don’t want to suffer again. He has not sorted out anti semitism in the party and appears to have no desire to do so. He is incapable of deciding on anything and sticking to it, flip flopping about , just look at the election, let’s gave on, ok says Boris, well perhaps not says Jezza. He has had to learn to pay lip service to respect, remember the issues over the National Anthem and poppy wearing? Like all leftists it’s one rule for him, and one rule for the rest. His polices make no sense, 4 day week? What cost is that to businesses who need to work 5 days a week? Just more expense to them do out of business they go.

As to your comment about Tory’s and people dying, cast your mind back to when Labour where last kicked out, and that lovely little note left by the Labour chancellor, ‘there’s no money left’. How true and since then the successive can/lib and conservative governments have had to play catch up hence austerity. So don’t go blaming the Torys for the fact Labour nearly bankrupted the country, and looking at Jezza proposed policies is aiming to do so again.

derxa · 01/11/2019 08:23

I don't hate Jeremy Corbyn. He's an old curmudgeon who sticks to his beliefs. He's got a lot in common with his brother Piers.
