To ask why everyone hates Corbyn?

timeaftertime79 · 31/10/2019 21:38

I’d genuinely like to see some facts and reasons as to why Corbyn is so awful that people would choose voting Tory (and people dying) over him.

Genuine reasons that are factual ... I’m wondering what information I seem to be missing that everyone else is seeing?

Someone will lose, just not the someone he cares about and who do you think will lose under a Boris Johnson government?

jcurve · 01/11/2019 00:24

Because he’s my MP and his constituency is a total shithole with the highest waiting lists for social housing in the country and one of the highest rates of gang murder, despite his 35 ish years as MP.

Because he steadfastedly ignores and refuses to comment on the serious sexual abuse of minors that has occurred over the last 35 years in his constituency, particularly that under the watch of current Labour MP Margaret Hodge when he was leader of Islington Council. In fact, he demanded another MP apologise in when he alleged (truthfully) in parliament that Islington was allowing children from their council-run orphanages to be exploited in child brothels.

He’s an absolute plonker that doesn’t give a shit about the people he has served for decades.

@joyfullittlehippo you have accused me of being racist. Please could you quote where and how I have been racist?

You're dodging the question joyfullittlehippo

Xiaoxiong · 01/11/2019 00:32

I have had no time for him since the leadership contest when he said he wanted to reopen the coal mines with "clean coal technology" which doesn't yet exist.

That one little thing summed up everything about him to me, that he is still fighting the battles of yesteryear - he wants to open the mines merely because Thatcher closed them - even though we now know coal is a disaster for climate change. He is ideological rather than pragmatic and hasn't changed his stance for decades even in the face of new information. I can't abide populists of the right or the left, and he is definitely one from the left.

@joyfullittlehippo

I can only assume you have got me mixed up with another poster. I have not used the words angry, emotional or over sensitive in any of my posts. I have been back and checked. I would appreciate it if you would directly quote me or report the post you refer to to Mumsnet.

You’re seriously asking why I’m angry at the thing that murdered my family,

I'm really not. I'm asking for a quote of what I said.

@joyfullittlehippo o see where you mean but that was AFTER you accused me of racism. What about before that? Why did you accuse me of being racist in the first place?

TowelNumber42 · 01/11/2019 00:47

Sunshine you yourself said you have a blind spot for anti-semitism. I can honestly say that I wouldnt have seen that mural and instantly thought of Jewish people because I have never encountered anti-Semitism so I am naive

Anti-semitism is rampant in the world. If you have never seen it then obviously you are choosing not to see it.

You are doing the equivalent of "I am not a racist, I'm not against black people, it's just that Africans are crooks so I'm against Africans. By the way, I've never seen any racist behaviour anywhere and that racist behaviour you said you saw was all just a misunderstanding."

It's not a good look.

I said I wouldn't instantly see a Jewish connection with that mural. Well it's true unfortunately I wouldn't. How is not being aware of a racist stereotype racist? Its not a nice picture but I wouldn't see it as depicting Jewish people ,I wouldn't know that's what it was about.

I am not a racist, I'm not against black people, it's just that Africans are crooks so I'm against Africans. In order for it to be the equivalent of this I would have had to say I'm against a group of people. Who have I said I am against?

@TowelNumber42

Inebriati · 01/11/2019 00:56

You've been told the mural was a racist stereotype and instead of accepting that you've banged on about your own innocence.

Go to Google images and search Nazi Juden propaganda and educate yourself a tiny bit.

Sunshine93 · 01/11/2019 00:57

I haven't accused you of being a bot. I also am not aware of which posters are Jewish. I don't think there's much else to say really. I have said I will read more and have been made aware of some things I didn't know about on this thread.

I support labour because I want to see a more equal society. I don't like the idea that some.people think Corbyn is anti-semitic, I have been widely led to believe these are smears but a couple of things have been brought to my attention today that I will look into further.

It's really not fair to say that because I called you angry I am anti-Semitic.

TowelNumber42 · 01/11/2019 00:58

You've made it abundantly clear on this thread that you don't really believe in anti-semitism. Don't bother asking me to give you a list of every single thing you said. You can read it back yourself. If you can't see how your anti-semitism is showing just from reading your own posts then there's no helping you.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 01/11/2019 00:58

I dislike many things already mentioned, his original support of the anti semitic mural in East London was particulary unsavory but his later comment of how he had "sincere regret at not looking closer at the mural" was completely ridiculous as it was blatently obvious what the scene depicted and its anti semetic message.

I am also against his attitude to HM Forces.
During a House of Commons debate in 1999, the Islington North MP proposed letting people opt out of giving tax revenue to the Army
“What policy is adopted by his Department in respect of taxpayers who do not wish to pay certain elements of taxation on grounds of conscience,” he asked Treasury ministers on June 24.
Mr Corbyn continued: “British taxpayers have a right of conscience not to participate in the armed forces in time of conscription and should have a similar right in time of peace to ensure that part of their tax goes to peace, not war.”

I also dislike Boris for his personal opinions too and won't be voting for his political party either.

Sunshine93 · 01/11/2019 00:59

@Inebriati I haven't "banged on" and I used the word naive not innocent.

Of course I accept it's racist. I accepted that from the off.

Sunshine93 · 01/11/2019 01:00

There's clearly no helping me then

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 01/11/2019 06:49

@Sunshine93, the majority of the Jewish community voted remain. Yet in a recent poll, published in the Jewish Chronicle, an even more overwhelming majority said that they would prefer a hard Brexit to Corbyn in Number 10. The JC is the most mainstream part of the Jewish press in the UK. If you don't think most Jews think Corbyn is an anti-Semite, trot off to its website and read a few recent comment pieces and leaders.

I'm not Jewish, by the way. But I've had a fair bit to do with British Jews over the years and I am horrified at how part of the current political discourse is treating them.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 01/11/2019 06:54

Besides, how can you be so ignorant as to look at that mural and not immediately see the stereotypes, and at the same time feel able to pronounce on whether Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-Semite or not?

You don't recognise what's staring you in the face.

kikisparks · 01/11/2019 07:09

@ TitianaTitsling he doesn’t support indyref2, he just won’t block it:

"I would advise that we don't have another referendum. I'm not in support of Scottish independence.” That’s not someone who supports indyref2.

He also didn’t sympathise with the IRA- his team confirmed IRA murders should be condemned unequivocally, and that “the IRA clearly committed acts of terrorism”. He just wasn’t wiling to say they were the only bad guy, the unionists and army also committed atrocities in Northern Ireland.

kikisparks · 01/11/2019 07:11

Oh and I’m not actually a big fan nor will I be voting labour but it seems to me the majority of anti Corbyn sentiment is based on fabrication or twisting his words.

WineIsMyCarb · 01/11/2019 07:12

He doesn't like Jews and doesn't mind other people not liking Jews.

How about that?
