Just trying to get the word out on how you can stop the Tories.

tactical.vote

OP posts:
HeresMe · 31/10/2019 19:54

If people don't think Gina has a vested interest they are naïve.

chomalungma · 31/10/2019 19:55

Gosh the hatred towards Gina Miller, who has done nothing except ensure that the government follows the law and that parliament, which is at the centre of our democracy cannot be ignored

THIS - for people who wanted Parliament to take back control, they sure are angry at a woman who has ensured that Parliament took back control

Gwiwer · 31/10/2019 19:56

The right wing aren't keen on politicians abiding by the law anymore. See also the US.

Actionhasmagic · 31/10/2019 19:57

It’s amazing to see how many people think ‘get brexit done’ is what will actually happen. It’s going to be years more brexit. It’s not getting done. Sorry to be the nesting of bad news but you’ve been duped. Again.

PhasersTaeMalky · 31/10/2019 20:04

I'd like to know who GM is that she thinks she has the right to such a huge say in her countries future whilst the millions who voted for Brexit have a say that is only worthy of being overturned.

theduchessstill · 31/10/2019 20:05

All the people gleefully saying they would get arrested if they wrote what they would like to do to GM - absolutely vile. Do people not realise what they are saying?

OP posts about a site that will be of interest to many and people make sinister comments like that. Why? There is nothing anti- democratic about tactical voting in a two party system like ours.

chomalungma · 31/10/2019 20:06

It went to court. The Supreme Court had the say. Not her.

Aren't you glad that Parliament had the chance to have a say on Brexit instead of the executive?

HeresMe · 31/10/2019 20:11

Gina Miller is supported by the great arbiter of truth, Shami Chackrabati who sold her principles to join the Labour party and had no interest in anti-Semitism.

BritishHorrorStory · 31/10/2019 23:11

@chomalungma
11,500 people is not a bad survey to get more confidence in the results and a smaller margin of error.

Then why did you say this?

Curious about the replies given the latest poll of 11,500 people.

HeresMe · 31/10/2019 23:47

If Gina Miller was happy for people to vote how they feel that's fine, but it's a massive power trip for her

Cornishclio · 31/10/2019 23:53

It tells me to vote Labour. Last time Conservative got 55% of the vote and Labour got 22% so it will be a stretch to oust our frankly useless conservative mp unless all the lib dem votes go to labour. Anything but conservative though so will give it a go.

SciFiRules · 01/11/2019 00:07

I can't understand the "just get it done" comments. This is one of the most important decisions in a century and possible one of the most harmful. If we do pass the bill we have years of wrangling and years of being run by the US, China and Russia. Brexit will result in the UK relinquishing self determination to the might of the dollar.

Monkeynuts18 · 01/11/2019 07:42

Would you people please stop talking sense? We want Parliament to be supreme and sovereign, except when it isn’t doing what we want. Then the PM should be able to suspend it for as long as he/she wants. That’s DEMOCRACY, innit.

LouiseReay · 01/11/2019 13:29

I have to say that I don't like tactical.vote because they are reluctant to look at any data more recent than the 2017 election. Means that they are not acknowledging at all the considerable shifts in political opinion that have occurred since.

For my area, the recommendation of Labour is wrong. The Liberal Democrats are stronger by far historically, with 2015/17 being anomalies caused by the coalition effect and a very locally popular Labour candidate who has now stood down.

So while I support the principle of tactical voting, I think that tactical.vote may well do as much harm as good thanks to the policies of the administration.

To quote the email they sent me:

"We do not base our recommendations on polling. Polls fluctuate all the time and
were a very unreliable guide in 2017. The best guide is the real votes in the
general election 2017 - held just two years ago and along the same constituency
boundaries."

LouiseReay · 01/11/2019 13:32

@Monkeynuts18, it's funny, isn't it?

All that talk about how we needed to take back control and our Parliament needed to be sovereign. Then when Parliament reminds people that it has always been sovereign, the same people that decried it's lack of power now want to strip it of the power it has.

Lifecraft · 01/11/2019 14:01

No one really thinks Boris is a good PM but at least hes trying to make Brexit happen

He blocked Brexit 3 times by voting against May's deal. And he didn't promise to try and make Brexit happen, he repeatedly promised it would happen, on 31 October no ifs or buts, do or die, rather be dead in a ditch, etc. Did he really think he could ride roughshod over the laws of the land and no one would notice and stop him. If so, he's an idiot, if not, he's a liar.

Lifecraft · 01/11/2019 14:05

for people who wanted Parliament to take back control, they sure are angry at a woman who has ensured that Parliament took back control

Also, Brexiteers wanted us to take back control of our borders. They clearly hadn't spotted that we're an island. We only have one border, with the Irish Republic, and we desperately want to find a way to have no control over it, and allow free moment of goods and people over it.

Itshouldneverhavehappened · 01/11/2019 14:05

I don’t need someone like Gina Miller to tell me how to think (or vote). I can work it out all by myself. Patronising twaddle.

nononever · 01/11/2019 14:14

Sick and tired of the whole fucking thing, I just want Brexit done and dusted so we can move on. I voted remain FWIW.

midnightmisssuki · 01/11/2019 14:18

We need something to vote for Gina miller to go away. Vote for labour? Don’t be so ridiculous. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Lifecraft · 01/11/2019 14:25

Sick and tired of the whole fucking thing, I just want Brexit done and dusted so we can move on.

Would you do this in your own life? Looking for a house for 3.5 years, unable to reach an agreement and buy one. Then one comes up for sale.

"I just want to get this house purchase done. No need to view it, or scrutinise the area, or anything, let's just get house buying done. Let's not even ask how much it's going to cost us. Just buy it so you can move on?

Honestly, get a grip. We shouldn't just want to get Brexit done. We should want to get it done right! Or not at all.

Notthemessiah · 01/11/2019 14:31

It is amusing that all those ardent brexiteers who froth at the mouth when people call them stupid or ignorant still come on threads like this and prove those people right - just driving the point home I guess.

If this site can somehow balance all out all of the gullible cretins voting for Boris and prevent a tory majority I'm all for it and couldn't care less who is promoting it.

nononever · 01/11/2019 14:41

Honestly, get a grip.

Yes dear 🙄

LouiseReay · 01/11/2019 14:55

@nononever, The only way to get Brexit done is to revoke Article 50. If we leave, no matter whether it is with Teresa May's Withdrawal Agreement, or Boris Johnson's Withdrawal Agreement or without a WA at all, that doesn't end it.

If we have left, then we will still need to negotiate a real deal with the EU. Whatever form that takes - whether a Canada style trade deal or something closer like Norway or Switzerland has, it will take years to negotiate. So however we leave, Brexit will remain a vital issue for the nation for years.

Lifecraft · 01/11/2019 15:59

If we have left, then we will still need to negotiate a real deal with the EU.

It's far worse than that. We will have to negotiate a deal with every other country outside the EU too, because, the deal the EU had with Peru that included us will no longer include us, so we will have no deal with Peru. If we wish to trade with Peru, we will need a new deal.

And the deals we negotiate with Peru and other counties will be worse than the EU deal we have now, because y' know what, the bigger the customer, the better the deal you give them. The trade Peru has with the EU including us is for more than the trade with just us.

Brexit won't be done for years and years.
