Jeremy Corbyn

I see so many posters saying they won’t vote for Labour as they don’t like Jeremy Corbyn - why? If the Labour policies are good then why not vote for those rather than the leader?

"He is genuine"

Yes - I agree with you. I've been involved in political and philosophical circles for a long time and met many very genuine people who gave huge amounts of time and effort through their compassion for others. This was frequently not a virtue.

People I met from both the far right and left were entirely genuine in their beliefs in 'chemtrails', the evils of chemicals in the water supply, that all the worlds evils come down to Israel and the 'Rothschilds bankers'. Wouldn't vote for any of them.

Do a twitter search for 'zionist chemtrails' to get an overview of the 'genuine' people out there.

A much older and bigger Jewish organisation does. The Jewish Labour Movement (formerly Poale Zion) has severed its ties to Corbyn’s Labour Party and refuse to campaign for him in the forthcoming election.

The so-called Jewish Labour Movement is a racist, pro-apartheid organisation. It's a disgrace it's allowed to be affiliated to the Labour Party in the first place, and if I were Labour leader I’d be deeply concerned if they wanted to campaign for me.

Current state of labour right here...

As an aside Labour had Stormfront backing them in the previous elections, something to maybe consider

Plus The Daily Stormer and Alt Right magazine (Richard Spencer). It would appear than Corbyn has some work to do convincing the anti-semites that he is not one of them.

Wavyheaded · 04/11/2019 01:21

I just wish Corbyn had been strongly anti-Brexit. His evasive wishy-washyness has permeated the party and made them less than useless IMO. They talk so much drivelly crap.

I do like my MP though, and I live in a labour stronghold so I'll probably have to vote labour just to be tactical. But I hate JC.

birdandroses · 04/11/2019 01:41

The deficit is now in line with EU acceptance of ~3% www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39897498. Now if you try and shift it onto debt, then it is quite clear you have no understanding of what you are trying to make such a statement on.

The deficits for a couple of years massively increased of course after the 2008 financial crash and I think like most developed p countries increased their spending to bail out the banks. Pre the financial crash Labour kept its annual deficits below the EU 3% requirement apart from 2 years in 2005 and 2006 where it was 3.4 and 3.1% . In fact in their first few years of being in government Labour had a surplus each year which happens seldom.

By 2017-2018 the Tories cut the deficit down to around 1.5%. Some economists argue to massively reduce spending when in recession and then in the following years can actually slow down growth and Tories should have spent more during these years or at the very least not done it so severely. Indeed our national debt has only grown since the crash.

birdandroses · 04/11/2019 01:53

Inequality is getting increasingly worse in the UK. We have one of the highest unequal measures in the EU.

Labour say they will try to address that (might not succeed) whilst Cons couldn’t give a toss. No party is perfect and the antisemitism concerns are serious. However, for me it is anyone but Conservatives and Brexit party.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/11/2019 04:38

I am very disappointed in Corbyn's weak leadership but still believe the UK and its people are much safer under him than under Johnson.

I agree with pp that voting Tory effectively means voting for the end of the NHS.

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 04/11/2019 04:50

I find it ridiculous that people keep trotting out the claim that he's an anti-semite without any evidence. Just saying it doesn't make it true.

Is this because he has opposed Israel's treatment of Palestinians?

Lilyflower1 · 04/11/2019 05:14

56Beetle, you are a hero for pointing all of this out.

The truth is that Corbyn and McDonnell are hardline Marxists who will crash the economy, divide the country and be impossible to remove once established.

Brexit is a cakewalk compared with the damage Corbyn will do if elected to power. McDonnell is worse, if possible. It won’t matter that Diane Abbott cannot count because the agenda is about naked power and if the figures do not add up, no one will care.

Fucket · 04/11/2019 05:33

Reasons I won’t be voting labour (and I’m no Tory):

Antisemitism - I’ve heard people from the Labour Party openly blame the Jews for the last financial crisis. Because obviously all bankers are Jews, therefore it’s a legitimate argument?! Right, ok.

IRA/Terrorists - my dh witnessed an IRA bomb go off injuring his colleagues. It affects him to this day, he was just a teen office boy going home from work.

Brexit - we all know JC is a closet brexiteer but he’s willing to forget all that and chase votes. Anyway why the hell do we want to paralyse this country for another year or two trying to negotiate another deal, having another pointless referendum. Just get on with it, we have a no deal Brexit let’s leave with some credibility. It just frustrating that there are so many things the government needs to concentrate on sorting out, and all they do is setting up more Brexit Brexit Brexit. The people are fed up of not knowing what is happening.

Labour have painted themselves into a corner and Been outplayed by both Lib Dem’s and BJ. JC has shown he is not a strong leader.

If you are a remainer why would you vote for labours brexit position and if you are a brexiteer

recrudescence · 04/11/2019 05:50

I find it ridiculous that people keep trotting out the claim that he's an anti-semite without any evidence. Just saying it doesn't make it true.

You’re joking, surely?

CoolCarrie · 04/11/2019 06:51

That’s some list 56, bring back Ed Miliband all is forgiven

bellinisurge · 04/11/2019 06:59

@Pitterpatterpettysteps , for the first time in my long life, I am reluctant to tell people I'm half Jewish. My Jewish dad (now deceased) was awarded several medals for bravery in WWII. I pride myself on being a tough cookie. The UK is not a comfortable place to be Jewish or of Jewish descent because of the creatures Corbyn gives comfort to.
Otherwise it's fiiiiiiiiine.

Cookerybookaddict · 04/11/2019 08:14

I am very disappointed in Corbyn's weak leadership but still believe the UK and its people are much safer under him than under Johnson.

Unless of course you're Jewish....

sunglasses123 · 04/11/2019 12:11

Blimey 56. Agree that is a long list. So, for the people who vote Labour regardless. How can you justify going back to the 70’s. Labour will bankrupt the country. Why on earth would higher rate tax payers choose to stay? They are also a set of people who have the money and ability to plan to leave the Uk.

My husband and I are higher rate tax payers. We will not be staying if Corbyn gets in. We have no dependant children and the world is a much smaller place.

Labour are completely bonkers with their ideas, no private schools, no empty properties, free prescriptions, free university education and so it goes on.

BertrandRussell · 04/11/2019 12:17

@56Beetle Great C&P skills! Any original thoughts?

Hingeandbracket · 04/11/2019 12:27

Good riddance to anyone who thinks like this. I’ve had to put up with plenty of years of stupid nasty divisive Tory policies. It’s called democracy.

derxa · 04/11/2019 12:33

Jeremy lives in a world of goodies and baddies and I'm one of the baddies.

fedup21 · 04/11/2019 12:43

free university education

I think it so sad that some people think that this as a concept is ridiculous.

BertrandRussell · 04/11/2019 12:45

There was nothing terrifying in the last labour manifesto- just perfectly feasible left of centre proposals. So unless this next one is radically different.....

Justanotherlurker · 04/11/2019 12:53

just perfectly feasible left of centre proposals.

I didn't realise you was such the comedian, I bet you still believe it was fully costed as well.

So unless this next one is radically different.....
Well they are already coming out with bizarre statements of removing all traces of privatisation from the NHS, you can see that has been thoroughly thought through, gullable Labour voters will swallow it hole though and wonder why GP's will suddenly all vote for a different party.

fedup21 · 04/11/2019 12:55

gullable Labour voters will swallow it hole though

Hmm
BertrandRussell · 04/11/2019 13:07

“I didn't realise you was such the comedian, I bet you still believe it was fully costed as well.”

Certainly better costed than Johnson’s 40 hospitals....
