West highland terriers for me Mother has one and she's a delightful little bundle of energy!

@grouchykiwi. Gorgeous!!! A Newfoundland would be my dream dog and we hope to get one when we move to a bigger house. I always screech with excitement when I see one out and about. They are the most adorable looking creatures.

Whippet/Sighthound... Lazy, clean, naturally gentle and relatively problem-free with regards to health!

Naughtiest breed I've ever known but so lovely too.

Pitbulls... illegal I know we had one and she was the most amazing dog I've ever owned so damn affectionate make the cutest little raptor noises, snore like crazy have bundles of personality and was fantastic with my son! Also we have an american staffy, a bully xl and a doberman who are also all amazing. Am staff is always hyper and loves the beach, our bully xl tells off and talks and is always amazing with my youngest who isn't in the best health and as for our doberman Zeus. What can I say... hea the most loyal, protective member of the family you could ever want - but he is trained and comes from personal protection breed lines.

I don't think I could pick a favourite breed.

I've had Miniature Pinschers, Ridgebacks, German Shepards, Rottweilers, Lab's and a large selection of cross breeds, both big and small.

Every single one has wormed their way into my heart and I've loved them for exactly who they are.

My current dog is bonkers, lovable and super smart (yet daft at times) who is convinced he's part deer and part sloth. (Pointer, Collie Greyhound mix)

Rescue dogs.

Bernese mountain dogs. They're so fluffy and smiley.

@MothershipG so lovely to see another owner of affenpinschers! They are the most adorable breed. I have a beautiful girl who is nearly ten and previously owned another girl until she was nearly 15. Without a doubt the best breed. Gorgeous little monkeys!

Staffie, such a happy and loyal little dog, much underestimated. Mine is amazing with everyone and everything, dogs, kids, cats, even small animals

Rescue. All of them.

I love greyhounds. Especially their long snoots. I had never considered them before, but now I have one, I would have ten more. They are brilliant, sensitive creatures and it’s so lovely watching her learn about being a pet.

@Ellabella989 They are such marvellous dogs. Our girl is our first one so it has been a big learning curve. She's 15 months now and calming down a lot, but she was quite difficult as a puppy. Typical puppy behaviour in a giant form is hard work!

There are some great groups on Facebook that I think are really sensible to join before you get a Newfie just to give you a better idea of what the breed is really like. They have a reputation as gentle giants, but that's not till they're older than two!
