West highland terriers for me Smile Mother has one and she's a delightful little bundle of energy!

I love collies. Always had either roughs or borders (sometimes crosses with these). I just love how intelligent and trainable they are. I also love German shepherds, although it’s difficult to find a well bred one nowadays, without any genetic issues. My first got was a GSD/border collie cross and was a fabulous dog.

A dog I’ve always fancied, after meeting one a few years ago, is a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever. Totally fell in love with the one I met. Also always admired Bernese mountain dogs, but might be a bit on the large side for me to handle on my mobility scooter!

DynamoKev · 29/11/2020 17:45

Greyhounds, whippets and mongrels

Elai1978 · 29/11/2020 17:50

Lurchers. Never met a lurcher owner who wanted another breed.

Absolutely! I’ll take any sighthound though, anything else is just a bit slow.

CGWGWOO · 29/11/2020 17:53

I love Kerry Blue Terriers.

SaucyHorse · 29/11/2020 18:05

German Shorthaired Pointer. The best dog I ever knew was a cross between German Shorthaired Pointer and German Wirehaired Pointer. He was gorgeous, had the perfect temperament and was so funny. He had the perfect amount of wirehair as well, just enough to have that charming slightly scruffy look but not the full beard that gets permanently wet and disgusting.

weedoogie · 29/11/2020 18:09

Shout out to the lurchers... so wise

and yet so silly...

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 29/11/2020 18:12

Patterjack, my girls is just gorgeous and an absolute nutter but I adore her! Smile

FOJN · 29/11/2020 18:17

I've yet to meet a mutt I didn't think was gorgeous but I probably have soft spot for terriers (any sort, I'm not fussy), the cheekier the better.

Sooperdooper19 · 29/11/2020 18:34

It’s so lovely to see people loving their ‘proper’ dogs not those bloody ridiculous cavacockerlabpoodles which are being bred purely for vanity and profit. I’m sure someone will along in a minute to say they can ONLY a have a cavapoodle because of their allergies 🙄. Dogs are not a fashion accessory!

@Lou0390

I love Weims.

We had a Weim bitch that lived to 14 1/2. The vet was always amazed at how fit she stayed. She was lovely. I'd love another Weim but my son doesn't like big dogs so we have a Havanese now. To be honest, my big girl would not have been 100% safe around visiting children, she could be bossy with visitors if unattended (example: once she jumped on the plumber and humped him furiously from behind when he was bent over mending a pipe), which I have to consider right now. The Havanese says hello and sits quietly on someone's lap or if she doesn't like them she goes elsewhere.

I recommend Weims and Havis. Very different dogs but both extremely loving.

OfTheNight · 29/11/2020 18:35

Labs and Golden Retrievers, Newfoundland’s and St Bernards. Just too cute!

BoogleMcGroogle · 29/11/2020 20:40

We had a couple of Staffies growing up. Both rescues, with a tough start in life and both gorgeous family dogs.

My parents now have an otter hound ( a rare and ancient who is utterly lovely.

I now have a new dog for the first time in 25 years, and I can safely say my heart belongs to a Labrador Smile

I was preparing a chicken to roast, had just put bacon over the breast, when my phone rang. I answered it, in the kitchen but just turned away from the work top for 30 seconds. When I turned back, the bacon was gone and Finn was lying on the floor the other end of the kitchen, looking fast asleep. I had to check the fridge to make sure that I hadn't just dreamed getting the bacon out....the chicken was otherwise completely undisturbed...

Newfies, bernese mountain dog and otterhounds.

lampygirl · 30/11/2020 23:19

Love our Bernese Mountain Dog. She think she is a lapdog despite her size so currently she is snoring and I’m unable to go for a wee. So much hair too, but the smiley face and the snuggles are worth it. You definitely get less houseproud with a big slobbery hairy dog.

Any breed as long as it's rescue.
Soft spot for staffies though.

Chimbleys · 01/12/2020 02:49

@weedoogie Typical! 😂

moanyhole · 01/12/2020 05:27

Swiss Shepherd. Kali Loyal daft and so loving. Milo the cat does not agree though!
