I just looked down at my almost empty bottle of wine and thinking of the long night ahead said aloud (I live alone - not sure whether that makes it better or worse)... 'WELL THAT'S NOT GOING TO LAST ME PISSING TIME'.
I had it said before I realised it haha.

Love to hear your other little colloquialisms/madness/things yer Ma says that you still say

OP posts:
Dontsayyouloveme · 18/10/2019 20:54

I would LOVE to know who else has heard this, I’ve yet to meet anyone who has:

“They’ve ‘seen their arse’”

As in “they’ve gone in a mood”

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 18/10/2019 20:55

Not exactly where I live but have some friends from Ebbw Vale and I love ‘Ida’ and ‘of a’ as in
Ida go to the pub of a Friday.

Ooo Paintedmaypole

Im wondering if you're from near me! Have you heard of ‘seen your/my/their arse’?

ghostyslovesheets · 18/10/2019 21:02

ultrablue you are right Bab

Paintedmaypole · 18/10/2019 21:02

Don'tsayyouloveme I have heard it as "He's seen his bottom and doesn't like the colour of it" (my mother was very refined and wouldn't say arseGrin) 'Ey up, btw is just an exhortation to be alert where I come from.

Paintedmaypole · 18/10/2019 21:06

I am curious now don'tsayyouloveme. Is it a town North of Manchester?

FairiesontheSwing · 18/10/2019 21:07

Mitching school where I used to teach in my early career.
Skiving school where I grew up.
Wagging school where I taught in my later career.

Loodally · 18/10/2019 21:09

From my late grandparents..
"black as fire back" = something extremely dirty/in need of a good clean.

"They're banna flit" = someone was getting ready to move house.

Pinkarsedfly · 18/10/2019 21:09

‘I’m mafted’ - I’m too hot
‘Chowed at’ - told off
‘Croggy’ - ride on the back of a bike
‘Twagging’ - playing truant
‘Tight as a duck’s arse’ - mean

Hull

Merryoldgoat · 18/10/2019 21:09

Not local exactly, but my mum was from the West Indies and used to say ‘Monkey knows what tree to climb’ and I think it’s perfect.

Ihatesundays · 18/10/2019 21:11

ShagMeRiggins · 18/10/2019 21:12

How’s Maud/Henri?
Well, she/he’s not looking better (French)

Well shut my mouth! (American South, surprised)

He sings like a saucepan (French again)

Hold your water (American South but possibly from elsewhere, be patient)

Dontsayyouloveme · 18/10/2019 21:12

My Mum was from Manchester and they are mostly hers with a few Boltonisms from my Dad thrown in. Seen his bottom definitely one of my mother's 😂

Dontsayyouloveme · 18/10/2019 21:20

Paintedmaypole tbh it probably started out as bottom and my dad changed it to arse! 😂 . I’ve lived in south wales and Scotland and when I said that people were agog!! 😂😂
