Inappropriate baby clothes

Name changed for this as outing (discussed in rl)

I followed a home made clothing brand on Instagram who I thought did lovely baby clothes and considered ordering.
I came across a lovely romper with koala bears on but the caption underneath said Cuddly AF. I then saw that this was part of a whole range of ‘AF’ clothing. They were proud of what the AF stood for and thought it was fun.
Am I being a pearl clutcher or is it just an awful thing to put on a baby?
I really can’t get my head around why those letters need to be there and I don’t find them fun or light hearted. I thought it was awful? The romper would have been lovely without them.
Am I being an uptight judgey-pants or do you also think it’s inappropriate?

I think it's awful.

burritofan · 17/10/2019 18:06

Do you think the baby can read

Thongalong · 17/10/2019 18:06

Its not something i would put on my child because i think its innapropriate but different folks different strokes eh?

Winterfellismyhome · 17/10/2019 18:07

Not as bad as the ones that say stuff like "all Daddy wanted was a BJ" 🤢🤢🤮

Sallyseagull · 17/10/2019 18:09

I dont personally like it but its not as bad as dressing your child in fishnet stockings (yes, I've actually seen an 18 month old in them).

Thankfully children cant read at that age.

Toojudgypants · 17/10/2019 18:12

@burritofan If I were to take the word of some mums on here, then yes...in 5 different languages.

Nope I have no problem with that

All my mummy wanted was a back rub/daddy bj ones though makes me feel queasy

SpaceDinosaur · 17/10/2019 18:17

It's just tacky.

yogyy · 17/10/2019 18:19

I Don't think it's inappropriate, I personally wouldn't buy it as I hate words on clothing, but I wouldn't judge anyone who dressed their child in it.

Jano69 · 17/10/2019 18:24

Don't like it. I can imagine grandparents asking what the AF means...

Leeds2 · 17/10/2019 18:29

I think it is horrible. And not something I would choose to buy, or dress my child in if given as a gift.

jennymanara · 17/10/2019 18:42

Incredibly tacky and awful.

RasberryRoyale · 17/10/2019 18:45

I think it’s tacky. I saw one in a shop window that said “I smell of shite just like daddy”

Toojudgypants · 17/10/2019 18:55

Don’t feel so bad now. Even those who dont have a problem as such still wouldn’t choose it.

Good point about the grandparents!!

I’m not bothered by the sweary aspect, but I really hate that Thing of making your child a little mascot of your world view. So try hard cool or “witty” stuff. Just let your baby be a baby, they don’t need add ons, they’re great as they are.

MyDcAreMarvel · 17/10/2019 19:02

Thought this would be about babies in jeans. Why would anyone do that?

DorisDances · 17/10/2019 19:07

Ok, someone has to ask- what does AF mean?

littlepaddypaws · 17/10/2019 19:10

as fuck, totally gross

CuteOrangeElephant · 17/10/2019 19:10

I don't do wording on clothes but I don't think this is bad.

DorisDances · 17/10/2019 19:16

Yuk!

HatingTheBigShow · 17/10/2019 19:16

As Fuck.
Grim

CAG12 · 17/10/2019 19:17

I agree with you.

I also hate things that say 'daddies little .....' etc.

But this is a new level

Bluerussian · 17/10/2019 19:18

It depends how big the logo is. I tried to find AF baby clothes by googling but I 'US Air Force' baby clothes and I don't think you meant that.

Do you have a link?

I don't go for anything with big flashy logos but a little one would surely be OK.

(If you're the mother, it's fairly unusual for mothers of young babies to wear pearls. Grandmas do. :-))

Davros · 17/10/2019 19:19

The baby can't read but everyone else can. Horrible. Same reason I didn't put DS with severe ASD in slogan t-shirts
