Should I have shared my garlic bread?

Went to Nando’s with some pals, we all like doing this because we all order what we want separately and there’s no faffing with splitting the bill.

Our orders came, and I ordered garlic bread as my side. I love garlic bread, and I love the bread they put their garlic butter on and it’s my fave thing.

Friends meal arrives, she’s ordered chips and coleslaw as her side, looks forlornly over at my perfect garlic bread and says “I wish I’d ordered the garlic bread now”. Someone else pipes up with “oh you’ll know for next time.” And we all
Laughed.

So I just eat my meal and enjoy my (two slices of) garlic bread. She’s got an absolute face on at the end of the meal and I asked her what was up and she said to me “you could’ve offered me one of your slices of garlic bread instead of gutsing them both”.

I wish I was more mature and I wish that comment hadn’t hurt me but I’m in the middle of a weight loss journey (still treating myself to sinful garlic bread sometimes) I have to say it really shocked me and I’ve been thinking about it ever since (i know iabu because it’s just a comment but still). She made me feel like a right gutsy git.

If it was something like an Indian meal I’d have had no problem sharing bits of everything because that’s the kind of meal it is but with something like Nando’s surely you just pick what you want? Was I right to eat both my pieces of garlic bread or should I have offered to share?

Oh!
You were certainly NOT BU.

Your "Friend" is a bitch who used spiteful language intended to hurt. She can fuck the fuck off.

If you have it in you, post her a slice of garlic bread 😂

Thongalong · 17/10/2019 18:18

You paid for it, you eat it. Garlic bread is the one, don't feel bad, enjoy every mouthful

DrJackDaniels · 17/10/2019 18:22

I think I’m the only person who has never been to Nando’s!! And I bloody love chicken!

TriciaH87 · 17/10/2019 18:26

Why should you share I'm guessing she didn't offer you her fries or anything instead. She's the greedy bitch wanting her fries, coleslaw and your sodding garlic bread. Then she makes a fuss because you ate your meal that you ordered and paid for, for yourself. Sod her.

SpaceCadet4000 · 17/10/2019 18:46

Ugh, I cannot stand adults who hint if they want something. Your friend sounds like effort, not to mention extremely rude for the "gutsing" comment. 2 slices of garlic bread is a normal amount, and it's not her fucking business to police what anyone eats.

As a side note, how amazing would it be if you could get the Nandos halloumi wrap but with garlic bread as the bread...

TaffeeComeHome · 17/10/2019 18:51

Share garlic bread?? 😲

Faints.

TaffeeComeHome · 17/10/2019 18:52

Beside, you only had two slices, one for each hand!

Mishka3085 · 17/10/2019 18:53

You did nothing wrong. Your pal had food envy and took an unreasonable hump. Stuff her! Hope you enjoyed your garlic bread and take care. Don’t worry about.

Mishka3085 · 17/10/2019 18:54

*it.
@TaffeeComeHome actual LOL at your comment. Grin

L0bstersLass · 17/10/2019 18:55

Gutsing them? What a rude bitch.

You had two slices. Of course you should not have shared them.

I still would not have shared them even if offered some of her chips/coleslaw.
If she'd wanted garlic bread she should have ordered some.

Please do not feel bad. She is rude and not a friend to use vocab like that,

diddl · 17/10/2019 18:57

I like garlic bread & chips so I might have suggested a swap.

Or I might not!

I wonder if she would have ordered some if it had been suggested?

Well, she's awful for saying that you "gutsed" the bread.

(Unless you stuffed both slices in at once!)

Pass-Agg nonsense.
She wanted garlic bread, but not enough to either ask you to share, or order her own.
Then the silly mare puts a cob on 'cos you didn't read her mind.

Don't waste a moment feeling bad.
Your 'friend' is a mardy, self-centred child.

Trudij123 · 17/10/2019 19:01

I’m a nandos virgin too. Nobody shares garlic bread unless the entire meal is a “pile it all in the middle and help yourself” kind of thing, “friend” is being a cow.

Good for you!

Zoejj77 · 17/10/2019 19:04

I wouldn’t even waste a minute thinking on this it’s so unimportant in the grand scheme of life. A face on because of garlic bread is she 15?

scubadive · 17/10/2019 19:04

She's being very churlish but and definitely shouldn't have been rude. That said if it was my friend I would have shared,

madcatladyforever · 17/10/2019 19:07

I can't be arsed with passive aggressive people like this. Ignore her.

FreshwaterBay · 17/10/2019 19:09

She is lucky to be alive.

People kill for garlic bread.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 17/10/2019 19:10

Do you feel upset because you feel that she was hinting at your weight?
She sounds like a cow either way. YANBU

CatoftheMilkyWay · 17/10/2019 19:15

Share garlic bread? No. Way.

FreshwaterBay · 17/10/2019 19:22

@FreshwaterBay

That is ridiculous! People do not kill for garlic bread. How absurd.

No, that's bad. Tricksies!!

Jellybeansincognito · 17/10/2019 19:28

Yanbu, she could have ordered her own if she really wanted some.

wibdib · 17/10/2019 19:29

What if she'd ordered [cheap thing on menu that you don't particularly like] as your main meal and you'd ordered [not necessarily cheap thing on menu that you adore] that she saw and then realised that she really fancied that too?

Would that mean that she would think you should hand over half your nice big juicy sirloin steak to supplement her tuna pasta bake that she no longer wants? OF course not.

Garlic bread is no different. You either all decide if you want some or not and get enough for those who want it. If more people see it and want it, order more, it usually comes pretty quickly and you can eat it alongside your main if you need to.

Still haven't figured out from this thread what nando's do to make their garlic bread so special - I don't do nandos as I can't eat chilli and everything has chilli in apparently, even the mild stuff.AngryHmm You'd have thought they did some non-chilli contaminated stuff as it means I veto the whole family from going there as there's nothing I can eat...
