To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

AviationLifystyle · 16/10/2019 09:56

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

There are trusts within trusts within offshore trusts and Swiss bank accounts by the score.

Even if they spent it with both hands, none of the royals would be on their uppers in their lifetimes and there would still be goodly sums to hand down to their heirs.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/10/2019 11:40

I love how the Royal toadies are determined to ignore the fact that William has been balls deep in half of Norfolk.

If he were preaching fidelity for everyone else there would no doubt be quite a lot of comment. Other than that, it's a private matter, and not one I want to know or speculate about.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 11:47

“ What does make Meghan and Harry stand out is their strong belief that they should be treated differently - that ^they* are somehow above reproach or commentary. ”
This is exactly the opposite of what Meghan said in the film!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/10/2019 11:48

There was an article recently about the wealth of the RF and how hidden it all is

Yes, and that mostly refers to the "official" funds. By the time the money of dubious oligarchs, the freebies and the expenses fiddles are added on, I suspect the figures look rather different

If we ever have to suffer Charles as King, I'd regard "slimming down the monarchy" as one of the few sensible things he's done, but I'm not sure even about this. It might be wise to wait and see if there's any benefit to the rest of us, or if it just becomes a matter of stiffing those who've offended him and keeping their goodies for himself

Blingandrings · 22/10/2019 11:48

Harry and William inherited a lot of money from Diana. They are very wealthy in their own right.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/10/2019 11:55

I think it’s a bit of an issue really that the royals outside of the line of succession are so reliant on others to find their lifestyles.

I don't think it's confined to those outside the line of succession. PC likes a freebie yacht holiday!

bluebells100 · 22/10/2019 11:57

This is exactly the opposite of what Meghan said in the film!

Are we really expected to believe they wouldn’t lie?

DonKeyshot · 22/10/2019 11:59

Prince A has much more than 200k a year to live on

If he's only got 200k per annum to live on the £10million+ chalet in Verbier he bought with his ex 4 years ago must have a very lengthy mortgage.

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 11:59

In what sense do they want to be treated differently?

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 12:00

Prince A has access to all kinds of pots of money if he wants them. The Queen is very indulgent to him.

Hagbeth · 22/10/2019 12:02

I don’t think he’s breaking down at all. This is just prelude to justify their move to the US. An act. That’s it. Watch this space.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/10/2019 12:05

I'm not sure they want to be treated differently. I do think they want to be able to act differently.

For all Harry talks about the "job" and the "role", there seems to be no job description, or line management. So they believe they are free to make the job their own.

If I was HM I'd be hauling them in and giving them the "Who's Queen?" treatment.

mrscampbellblackagain · 22/10/2019 12:06

I think they all benefit from rich friends lending them holiday villas/private jets etc. But unless they are very very old and trusted friends - it can look a little transactional.

Ahem Andrew.

But Betrand how did she say that when what she is then saying is that she wants to be treated fairly by the press.

Since when did the UK tabs treat anyone with a shred of decency and why would Meghan be different?

I don’t believe this will herald the end of the monarchy or indeed the end of this tabloid behaviour.

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 12:09

yet they can't articulate why they should be treated any different to other unpopular royals

Well I went into this in a lot of detail earlier in the thread. It’s there if want to go back.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/10/2019 12:09

If I was HM I'd be hauling them in and giving them the "Who's Queen?" treatment

Very possibly, but as we've seen so often the Queen doesn't seem terribly keen on reining in her family's worst excesses ... unless they simply take no notice of course?

areyoubeingserviced · 22/10/2019 12:13

I don’t know what Meghan has done to attract some of this vitriol. However, I will outline some of the reasons that she attracts such hate and envy

  • She’s American , some would have preferred Harry to marry an English woman .
Some feel slighted that he has chosen someone from across the pond.
  • she’s intelligent, has a university degree speaks other languages
  • Her husband adores her and married her quickly - some women can’t get a man to commit
  • She had a career before she was married and earned lots of money- self sufficient
  • she married one of the most popular members of the Royal Family.
  • she’s attractive and slim
-she got pregnant quickly and has given birthday to a beautiful baby boy -she is articulate and confident -she has always been interested in humanitarian causes , even before she married Harry.
  • she’s determined
She writes beautifully - another thing that she is good at Finally , she’s mixed race. Some aren’t happy that Harry didn’t marry a woman that looks like them. Some posters can deny that race had anything to do with it, but I as a white woman I have heard some passive aggressive comments about such things as her Afro hair texture, Archie’s colour etc

So as you see, there are many reasons why posters may dislike Meghan, but I truly believe that jealousy and envy is at the root of it .

@MauritiusNext- you must remember that in the toe sucking, tampon gate , Sheikhs / Sophie . These people had actually done something ‘wrong’, for want of a better word
I really don’t know what Meghan and Harry have done

Idontwanttotalk · 22/10/2019 12:21

@ orangeblosssom
"It seems to me that the only reason Meghan is getting so much vitriol is that she has skin cells that are making more melanin."

@malificent7
"I think people hate shes a black American tbh."

Who are these people who you think hate Meghan because of the colour of her skin? I think you are being ridiculous. I'm pretty sure most of us don't like or dislike people based on that criteria. I was surprised when I started hearing comments about racism as I didn't notice her race. If you look at pictures on H&M on the South African tour their skin tone looks the same and it is only Archie that has the palest of skins.

I did notice though that Harry holds his baby in the same unusual way that Meghan does. Is that a new way of holding a baby because I've only seen H&M do it and I'm wondering what it is all about?

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 12:23

Unpopular royals need to accept it's often unfair but so is life. They should learn to shrug it off

That’s where we disagree. I don’t think anyone should have to put up with the press constantly implying false information or constantly scapegoating them.

It’s part of a much bigger debate. The gutter press are a disgraceful presence in this country and do nothing but shit stir.
