To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

AviationLifystyle · 16/10/2019 09:56

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

To say all criticism of Meghan is because of her colour is naive and ridiculous

It is indeed, but it goes hand in hand with believing in the “rightness” of her progressive politics and a lack of understanding that Royals simply cannot be seen to be political.

Cerseirys · 22/10/2019 09:45

Isn't it the monarch who cannot be political rather than any old royal? Charles has been meddling in politics for years!

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 09:45

Royals simply cannot be seen to be political.

Again. What about Charles?

Jillyhilly · 22/10/2019 09:47

Actually Cerseirys Charles has a difficult time with the press in his younger days because of the statements he made about modern architecture. For years he was portrayed as a kind of hippy-dippy loser.

And he was a born and bred Royal who’d been around for years. Not a newcomer who was always going to be closely scrutinised - as newcomers always are.

What about Fergie? - attacked for years because of her weight.

Jillyhilly, you have hit the nail on the head. I watched the documentary this week Megan and Harry in Africa, because I had read they felt they were being picked on, to see for myself. When you are seeing little children horribly mained by land mines, with legs blown off, babies through no fault of their own with Aids, its NOT OK, to say, YOU are finding life hard, stressful every day. We all have our own stresses and problems. When I was nursing and patients wanted to chat about their problems, I didnt say "Oh, yeah, that happened to me twice over". Megan actively admitted she didnt know what she was in for, "living in a gold fish bowl", she was in the limelight before her marriage, as an actor. NEVER COMPLAIN, NEVER EXPLAIN!!

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 09:48

i think Archie being born in the UK has severely limited his future options.

Well hardly. There’s literally one thing he can’t do because of it.

Fergie has been covered extensively earlier on the thread. You might want to read back.

It’s very interesting with all the deflection on here. Why aren’t people calling out Andrew because he’s a paedophile or Kate and William because they spent more on their renovation than M&H. Really!! How pathetic. I really have no fucks to give about any of them. The fawning and sycophancy on here about people of enormous wealth and privilege who never did a proper days work in their lives is hysterical😀

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/10/2019 09:56

Excellent (the long one) post @Jillyhilly

escapade1234 · 22/10/2019 09:59

Why are people so determined to pin any criticism of MM on her mixed race heritage? Which is very common in this country and hardly shocking. When Fergie was bullied by the tabloids, was that to do with race? She had a terrible time of it largely because she was just deemed “unsuitable”. Same with MM. She’s an American actress. That’s the nuts and bolts of it I think. People just find her quite alien in terms of royalty, she’s not what people expected.

Personally, I am aghast at how her and Harry are handling themselves right now. It’s very distasteful to moan about your “struggles” on your way out of an African orphanage. No-one is saying those struggles aren’t real, being rich doesn’t inure you to emotional turmoil - OBVIOUSLY - but they need to talk to their friends and close family and maybe health professionals about it. Not the bloody national media. I can’t work out if they’re just so unaware or frankly thick or badly advised or what. I do think they are a pair of narcissists, who are surrounded by yes men and expect adoration and approval wherever they go.

Meghan is also used to American emoting which really jars here and come across as insincere - that’s also part of the problem. It’s a cultural clash.

Cerseirys · 22/10/2019 09:59

Charles has a difficult time with the press in his younger days because of the statements he made about modern architecture. For years he was portrayed as a kind of hippy-dippy loser.

That's hardly in the same league as the coverage Meghan has been getting.

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 10:00

that is not allowed or relevant

Not at all. There was a very interesting and in-depth discussion earlier in the thread.

I agree Fergie had a hard time, but it was a different set of circumstances.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 22/10/2019 10:06

Yes whatever you do, do NOT say this has happened to many many other royals!! that is not allowed or relevant.

No we must only mention other royals in a bid to support Meghan who should be exempt from criticism because she is mixed race. That is the only time and context in which they should be mentioned.

LaurieMarlow · 22/10/2019 10:07

The fawning and sycophancy on here about people of enormous wealth and privilege who never did a proper days work in their lives is hysterical

I totally agree with you and I’d get rid of them in the morning.

However I do object to one (now two) of them being held to different standards to the rest.

Oh I quite agree they’ve never done a day’s real work in their lives. I’ve noticed the older royals don’t refer to it as work. Harry does this a lot. “Our work”. Who’s he trying to kid?

What exactly do they do when they visit charities? They draw attention. I get that. But it’s not work. It’s being helpful, sure. It’s harnessing your celebrity, yes. But they spend minutes at these places. They look, nod, shake hands, smile, cut a ribbon and go home. They don’t DO anything.

I know this is itself is useful to the charities. I get that. But stop calling it “our lives work” Harry and Meghan. It’s not bloody work.

ExecutiveFiat · 22/10/2019 10:17

At least Kate has decided to be the dutiful stepford wife. That’s in the job description when you become a royal! You take the privilege and the money and the palaces and the endless holidays, and you cut a few ribbons and keep your mouth shut.

M&H do not seem to understand this. They are a pair of narcissists who want the limelight when it suits them, and then go full on attack mode when it doesn’t.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 22/10/2019 10:26

Meghan is exceptional and Archie is very special. She shows the rest of them for what they are. I think Archie being born in the UK has severely limited his future options.

Meghan aside, how do you know Archie is so very special? I’m sure he’s a lovely baby, but how does he show his special qualities so early on?

And how has his being born in the UK limit his options?

chesterdraws1 · 22/10/2019 10:32

How could Meghan be head of state here or in America? Confused
