ChanChanChan Your username is racist

How can you categorically say that? What if her name is Chantal?

I think that's rather PP's point. They were using irony to make it. Look at the post they are responding to.

TheNinkiestNonk · 15/10/2019 20:14

The last time I looked at this thread it was about unpaid lunches..........?

Sagradafamiliar · 15/10/2019 20:15

Random I acknowledged throughout my posts that I knew that the phrase was used in a different context. People still need to know though in case they start using it in real life and then finding themselves in employment tribunals ect

QueenBeex · 15/10/2019 20:15

TheNinkiestNonk i thought so too but it seems like it's gone rather off topic Hmm

Mephisto · 15/10/2019 20:19

I think some people see things that aren't intended.

Well I met some Columbians who talked about ‘Pakis’ they met in Canada. They didn’t know that Pakis was a racially pejorative term but I still told them that the word was unacceptable anyway, because you may not intend to be racist but still he perceived to be racist if you use racially dubious words and phrases.

PentreBachCymraeg · 15/10/2019 20:30

Why was my comment deleted? She's been taken to task with HR ffs?

This thread has taken quite an unusual turn Hmm

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 20:37

Doggerel! That sounds like dog grill! You animal abuser!

Grin
SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 20:42

The last time I looked at this thread it was about unpaid lunches..........?

Oh - That was ages ago.

It's gone downhill since then.

Mousetolioness · 15/10/2019 20:46

I will always think of this as the ChongaDongaWonga thread.

I'm another one who reckons the CF's big smiles on exiting the HR office was a face-saving show.

yestoextinction · 15/10/2019 20:46

ect

Etc.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 20:46

Well I met some Columbians who talked about ‘Pakis’ they met in Canada. They didn’t know that Pakis was a racially pejorative term

Perhaps it isn't a pejorative terminology Columbia. Perhaps there, it is regarded as descriptive.

Though I think you were right to tell them that it is a very offensive term in the UK.

Sagradafamiliar · 15/10/2019 21:03

Ect.

What? Most pathetic, pedantic correction ever or something else?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 21:12

Have to admit Sagrada - as a pedant, I was twitching about this, too.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 21:13

Sorry - should be clearer - I also found "Ect" upsetting - not the correction.

Sagradafamiliar · 15/10/2019 21:23

The former, then. It is most amusing that my lack of full use of et cetera complete with a full stop has caused more offence than anything else on the thread.
Lol.

ChanChanChan · 15/10/2019 21:26

@yestoextinction, thank you for your assumptions. FYI 3 iterations of my surname is not racist. For me.

Elodie2019 · 15/10/2019 21:27

So, OP... Gad you've got your money back from CF...
Shame this thread has been de-railed. Angry

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 21:27

Not offence - just irritation.

But I rarely pull anyone on spelling etc (see what I did there? Grin) because I know that predictive text and autocorrect can cock up a lot of posts.

Sagradafamiliar · 15/10/2019 21:29

Predictive text/autocorrect? I just couldn't be arsed to add a full stop 😂

Elodie2019 · 15/10/2019 21:31

But, for the record...

You can just go chong a dong you lil charmer you (Lunch Dramas)
SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 21:49

It wasn't the full stop Sagrada

etc vs ect

yestoextinction · 15/10/2019 21:49

lack of full use of et cetera complete with a full stop

No. You put 'ect' when you should have put 'etc'.

Sagradafamiliar · 15/10/2019 22:17

Awww did I. Oh I did. I do hope you're both over your pretend irritation by now. Your poor sods. The only thing more irritating than someone typing too fast to give a damn on an internet chat forum, is when elitist arseholes don't own their own arseholery and act like there is a motivation behind it like being 'irritated' by a typo. I don't think I do too badly given this isn't my first language.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2019 22:27

Hope you're over your pretend irritation, too.

I think you need to calm down - you're well on your way to something blood pressure related there. Hmm

Just as a matter of interest, does your first (or second or third for that matter) language have an expression equivalent to "sense of humour bypass"? Grin

Sagradafamiliar · 15/10/2019 22:37

I didn't say I was irritated. I can't work myself up over that level of pedantry.
Like I said, I hope you're over it Thanks
How many languages can you say 'sense of humour bypass' in? I laugh at funny things, don't you?
