It really drives me mad. You are obviously mainly famous or successful because of connections. I know some are them are talented but surely connections of parents help. David Hasslehoff's daughter has said it. Kelly Osborne, Lilly Allen and loads more.

Gaynor Faye is a terrible actress. She’s almost as bad as Suranne jones.

alltoomuchrightnow · 14/10/2019 19:01

Leah Wood, yes definitely her dad's daughter.

I wouldn't say that Keith Allen was exactly a household name though. A known face maybe (as in, where have I seen him?) but not so much the name. I think both Alfie and Lily are very talented, although LA fairly irritating at times. Remember for a few years she changed to Lily Cooper (married name) as 'I've never liked the name Allen'. As soon as she had a career return it was back to Allen.
Liam G's other daughter, Mollie, is stunning though (I think also does modelling) and her mother was actually a model

IcedPurple · 14/10/2019 19:04

Isn't Anais Liam's niece, not his daughter?

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/10/2019 19:05

While I don't think Kate Mosses daughter is supermodel material I think she definitely model worthy. She has an adaptable face which is very common in models.

I've just seen pictures of Gino D'Acampo's son, wow!! Very, very good looking.

I wouldn’t say Jude Laws son is unattractive. Personal taste I assume........

She's about 5 foot 3 so would be rejected at the first hurdle by any modelling agency. That's if she wasn't Kate Moss' daughter, in which case all bets are off.

alltoomuchrightnow · 14/10/2019 19:08

sorry yes wrong way round.. Anais is Noel's daughter with Meg Matthews

ExecutiveFiat · 14/10/2019 19:17

I think a lot of people forget that these posed photos are photoshopped to within an each of their life!

I remember reading on another forum, someone had seen kate moss up close, and was shocked at how different she looked in real life.

I think good lighting and camera angles are responsible for a lot of images we see of these ‘models’

SimonJT · 14/10/2019 19:19

@ExecutiveFiat Having been to the Brits a few times and other similar events, lots of ‘stars’ look very very different in the flesh.

IcedPurple · 14/10/2019 19:22

Of course. But that still doesn't mean just anyone could do it.

If so, models would get minimum wage instead of, in some cases, earning 5 figure sums in a single day.

I agree with a previous poster that Emilia Fox isn't a great actress but better than her mother Joanna David who is wooden and exactly the same in everything. No emotion, nothing.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 14/10/2019 19:56

Silly Allen would never had made it as a singer without her connections.

But we all use the connections we have, some are just better connected than others.

My DD is good friends with a 5ft average looking girl with a famous mum and she lots of modelling gigs and little film parts simply because of her connections, that’s life.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 14/10/2019 19:59

Brooklyn beckham is surprisingly humble in real life, easily embarrassed, he’s ok.
He’s been to a lot of local schools in nw London and many kids say he’s really ok.

Tabitha005 · 14/10/2019 20:08

Someone beat me to the 'Brooklyn Beckham' comment. His photographs are a (particularly unfunny) joke.

Lisa Marie Presley is an absolute darling - one of THE most unstarry, unfussy 'famous' people going. Our paths crossed in the course of my work several years ago. She was unassuming and charming in equal measure and definitely didn't expect everyone to run around after her.

PhilSwagielka · 14/10/2019 20:12

Apparently VB's label is doing very badly and Beckham has had to put his money into it to keep it afloat. It's kind of ironic how she was the least vocally distinctive of the Spice Girls, but is now the most famous for non-music related reasons. Compare to Mel C who just gets on with her music career and does the odd musical.

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/10/2019 20:50

I think I could walk past all the Beckham children and not recognise them. I would Katie Price's older children because they have been pimped since they were conceived.

I think with the Hadids it doesn’t help that they don’t seem like nice girls at all!

perpetuallyperplexedbylife · 14/10/2019 21:14

I discovered Joe Hill's books before I knew who his dad was (Stephen King) and he deliberately kept it quiet whose son he was at first.

IcedPurple · 14/10/2019 21:18

Very few labels make money, the perfumes, Make up ranges and accessories etc that make the real money and she doesn’t have those.

Yes.

Plus she made the huge error of pitching her brand at the high end of the market. If you're one of the small number of women who can afford to shell out big money for a dress, why would you go for a former WAG when you can have one of the prestige brands?

If she'd gone into a collaboration with a high street store her brand would probably have been a success. But no, her ego wouldn't let her.

rosybell · 14/10/2019 23:05

I always think that about Scarlett Curtis and the books she has 'curated' .. I actually like her a lot, but her parents connections have helped her considerably.

BlackCatSleeping · 15/10/2019 01:52

I'm a huge fan of Ronan Farrow. He is a very hard working, extremely intelligent guy who by his own admission nearly destroyed his own career with the article he wrote on Harvey Weinstein. His resume is very impressive. Obviously coming from a wealthy family opened doors for him, but I think he's got where he is through his own merit.

Anderson Cooper is another guy I have a lot of time and respect for. He may be a Vanderbilt, but he has worked extremely hard to build his own career and he's an excellent journalist.

I don't think they can be compared to people like Dani Dyer or Calum Best.

Genuine50 · 15/10/2019 02:10

I don't mind if the child is genuinely talented but so many of them are not and are just getting breaks because of their parents. Prime example is Anais Gallagher daughter of Noel. She's apparently a model and TV presenter! Sorry but there's nothing special about her and she's definitely not got the height or other attributes expected of girls who want a career in modelling. Her dad has slagged of the likes of Adele, Ed Sheeran and One Direction in the past for being talentless. The latter came from ordinary families and had to go through countless auditions and beat stiff competition for their success - don't think Anais has ever had to do that to get the opportunities she has.
