I have always wondered this. Anyone ever been offered crap street food? Seen them running around shops looking for obscure items?

My DP has been involved in this series. They were filming at his place of work and he had to build the designed project.

Fredastaireatemyjamsandwich · 12/10/2019 18:40

Why waste 10 weeks of your life, trying to get £250k for 50% of your company? If your idea is that fantastic take it to dragons den and get investment for far less equity.
I was in Old Compton Street when they were trying to sell fudge/sweets for 50p a bag when they started at £5. It was Nick Hewer I noticed first. (Aprt from the film crew, but normally largely ignore, as they’re always filming there)

100PercentThatBitch · 12/10/2019 18:43

I suspect they eventually end up with a lot more than the value of £250k in terms of access to the big stores, the best on offer etc

Levatrice · 12/10/2019 18:51

@sarahjconnor that is hilarious 😂😂😂😂

TheSilveryPussycat · 12/10/2019 19:08

Dragons rarely invest in ideas - they are mostly interested in businesses which are actually trading.

purpleclaire · 12/10/2019 19:10

Ooh this has just brought back memories of the Badger (Ruth)...wonder where she is now.

ScapaFlo · 12/10/2019 19:20

Along with the getting ready in 20 minutes thing, why do they stay in such massive houses when they only use two bedrooms, one for the girls and one for the boys? I should absolutely hate to share with such divas

Firstaidnovice · 12/10/2019 19:21

Ah, DH has just reminded me of my apprentice story which I had totally forgotten. It wasn't while they were on a task, but shortly after the series they were on aired I saw Pants Man and the blonde one he got together with at St Pancras, about to get the Eurostar. They were in WHSmith and she asked him if he wanted a paper. He called over to her "get me the Times", and she just rolled her eyes and picked up the Express. It was amazing Grin. Just off to Google their names. Oh, and I once did British military fitness with Claire something from a very old series. Gave herself the nickname bulldog or something.

Alfiesmom74 · 12/10/2019 19:28

My nephews wife was on there last year. She drew the boys cartoon character Benjy. She said the guys were all lovely.

Alfiesmom74 · 12/10/2019 19:31

@WhiteVixen oh my god that is the perfect name for him. I can’t bloody stand the pompous little prick!!

Alfiesmom74 · 12/10/2019 19:34

@Roussette I remember Stuart very well. Was so sad to read of his death.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 12/10/2019 19:36

No, but I drive past Alana's "Ridiculously Rich" van on my way to work every morning

Ticklemeelmo · 12/10/2019 19:40

@Firstaidnovice

I saw him on the tube once, I was very tempted to start yelling the pants man song at him

Madcatgirl · 12/10/2019 20:28

One of my ex-bosses was on the apprentice. He said all the getting in the taxi scenes are filmed at once, they all always have an overcoat and scarf on.

He was a right dodgy sort, but so bloody likeable and a good boss.

Aridane · 12/10/2019 20:40

@purpleclaire

Badger has her own consultancy firm, Ruth Badger Consultancy Ltd,with offices in Salford Quays, Salford, and runs North West Money, a company which provides finance for homeowners.

Mandora83 · 12/10/2019 21:40

I was in Selfridges some years back and the Apprentice Junior series was filming a task there. The kid that ended up winning came up to me and tried to sell me some cupcakes with a very earnest look. I’m glad I didn’t tell him where to go! Grin

Iamthewombat · 12/10/2019 22:11

@mintich my money is on Vincent Disneau being your ex. Was he as much of an arse when you knew him?

mintich · 12/10/2019 22:32

@iamthewombat it's not!

Cruddles · 12/10/2019 23:32

Was drinking at the Bricklayers Arms in Putney about 7 years, it was before a Fulham game so quite busy. My friend and i were drinking out front as the weather was nice so must have been April/May time.

We noticed a van parked with Karen Brady sat in the front seat looking fucking miserable and very bored. She kept checking her makeup. Anyway a Morris Band starts up not long before we're due to head to the football and done bloke runs up to me and asks me if I'd be interested in product. Having seen Karen Brady i figured this must be an apprentice thing.

Thing is i can't for the life of me remember what he was selling. I think it was beer related, might have even been a type of beer. All i remember is saying something like "no way, that's sounds fucking horrible" or something along those lines. And we left the pub, so not sure how it ended up

Cruddles · 12/10/2019 23:36

Actually just looked online and this must be it

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01sfh3g

I think it was the rhubarb beer i was offered, i remember thinking it sounded awful and i hate rhubarb so it would make sense

mummyof3kids · 12/10/2019 23:40

I have seen contestants being filmed (when interviewed on street after tasks) loads of times as live near main filming area (not too far from Bridge Cafe). They are often filmed going past my street when they go off in taxi after being fired. I haven’t seen them carry out any tasks or been sold anything yet! In the past week though I have seen filming for ‘homes under the hammer’ in a conference centre and I was at theatre seeing Waitress (Joe Suggs was in it) when filming took place for Globals make some noise this was for morning tv show.

Chickenwings85 · 13/10/2019 00:28

I asked a reliable source of they really do have 20 mins to get ready and the answer is yes. However, they have to be downstairs in 20 minutes to get mic'd up etc... which in essence gives them a little longer.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 13/10/2019 00:44

I'm from the same town as a previous (pretty memorable) contestant and we both still live there and have kids at the same school. He was a big cheesy wotsit on the show and he's a big cheesy wotsit in person. He really stands out in a town where most people are just normal.

My very pretty niece has actually been DMing a recent male contestant this week Confused. I think she's realised he's a twat now though.

GoldenFlaps · 13/10/2019 10:11

@Growbagsforever, l don't suppose you could elaborate?

Seconded Smile

Ruth Badger, was she the one who said "At the end of the day" every second sentence?

Rosehip10 · 13/10/2019 10:54

A friend of mine shagged a contestant before he was on a very early series. Apparently he was a twat then and was a twat on the show.
