I have always wondered this. Anyone ever been offered crap street food? Seen them running around shops looking for obscure items?

OP posts:

I always think the lighting in the boardroom does something to their eyes

I haven't watched it for years but I used to think that too Grin

Skinnychip · 11/10/2019 17:43

My previous boss was on one of the buying tasks and sold them one of the items. Amazingly he came across as quite reasonable on tv when in real life he was a fucking psychopath
It offends me that in their ridiculous cabin sized luggage that some of them allegedly live out of for 12 weeks, that they only have business wear. Its stupid when they go to a factory/farm/sewage works in their business wear , or try to do gardening and decorating in suits, or stilettos!!
Karen Brady is as dislikeable as most of the contestants- bring back Margaret!!

DatsunCogs · 11/10/2019 17:45

I'm always amazed I've not seen them filming as lots of those London locations are places I work/pass through, and on last weeks episode it was my local high street...still not seen them though.

I knew a contestant from back in the day, she was far too nice for the whole thing (and therefore got fired very early on!)

WineIsMyCarb · 11/10/2019 17:49

Could anyone here who works in a professional/officey environment raise their hand if they dress anything like the women on The Apprentice. Tight dress in luminous colour, stripper heels, all the make up, massive hair.

sorrythisusernameisinuse · 11/10/2019 17:54

I worked in London for 4 years and was in the exact location in South Africa at around the same time as filming and I've never seen anything!!!

OtraCosaMariposa · 11/10/2019 17:56

The Apprentice reminds me why I'm self-employed.

They don't live out of the tiny suitcases, they have another one, but for the boardroom, they have to just take an overnight bag and then get the rest of their belongings later.

LeggyLinda · 11/10/2019 18:04

They filmed at our workplace earlier in the year. We were expected to sign an NDA if on site at time of filming. I preferred to avoid and leave work early instead.

PookieDo · 11/10/2019 18:05

One team shot a terrible advert at a place near where I live, unfortunately I didn’t meet any of them. They lost that task though 😂

I love the apprentice

LittleRedSocks · 11/10/2019 18:06

@WhiteVixen Business Pig 😂😂😂😂 that’s tickled me far more than it should! Brilliant!

PookieDo · 11/10/2019 18:08

I do love it when they are doing a cleaning task and they all turn up in heels and dresses. Or run around cobbled streets in heels all day selling something dreadful. Is that even real?! Can human women wear 6 inch heels all day long? Why don’t they have blister plasters and red swollen feet poking out

TitaniaQueenOfTheFairies · 11/10/2019 18:18

We got very excited the first time we drove past the Bridge Café.

TheSpottedZebra · 11/10/2019 18:21

A million years ago the final task (I think) was to make an alcoholic drink. They used the company I worked for to mock it up, and they came along to an event dinner we had, and we judged them and their product. We had to totally ignore most criteria like feasibility, cost of goods, sales projections.

It was a farce.

KurriKurri · 11/10/2019 18:21

sarahjconnor - I'm pretty sure your encounter was with the apprentice contestants, and if IIRC that team were told off for giving balloons to children before asking the parents as it is unethical. Well done for giving them a piece of your mind Grin

KurriKurri · 11/10/2019 18:23

Another question - as I live a long way from the capital - are people in London really prepared to pay £3.50 for an ice lolly, or any of other ludicrous prices contestants try to flog thier stuff for ? Round here they would not sell a single item - people would laugh and point Grin

GookledyGobb · 11/10/2019 18:27

A while back but the cafe they went in pre boardroom was near my old work, as was the studios where they filmed the boardroom. Often saw the cars but never any contestants

HenSolo · 11/10/2019 18:28

Ah no, but I served Nick when I was a waitress, we chatted for a while. He was in casual wear which was odd and kind of like your granddad rather than businessy. I mean obviously I suppose it would have been strange if he’d marched out critiquing my waitressing style

100PercentThatBitch · 11/10/2019 18:36

This is such a good thread! I'm sure there was a balloon task at a zoo as well. Someone on here must have stories.

Skinnychip · 11/10/2019 18:37

I work in London and i laughed at the idea of anyone prepared to pay £3.50 for a phallic strawberry mini milk.
Nearly every food task ends up being something that looks like its come off the reduced counter at asda and they're trying to flog it for about £10!!

FatherFintanFay · 11/10/2019 18:45

A friend of mine went to the Bridge Cafe when she was in London once. She didn't have any cash on her and only realised when it was time to pay that they didn't take cards. It's in the middle of an industrial area so there aren't any cash points around and she had to go for her train. They let her off with an IOU and she posted them a cheque when she got back home. My tenuous contribution there.

In answer to a pp, I work in a businessy sort of environment and women haven't dressed like apprentice candidates since about 2004. There was definitely a phase where bodycon dresses and stripper heels were everywhere but it looks terribly dated now.

Roussette · 11/10/2019 18:49

Nick isn't on it anymore, but I will admit I have a soft spot for Claude. He can hold in a smile more than anyone I know!

newnameagainagain · 11/10/2019 18:53

My dad was sold a shit leather jacket. I was actually quite cross they took advantage of an old man, it felt like he was conned.

100PercentThatBitch · 11/10/2019 19:18

I preferred Claude when he didn't know them and would show up for one episode and absolutely SAVAGE them

PookieDo · 11/10/2019 19:20

I don’t know what mugs they find to pay £7.59 for a one leaf salad in London, I am assuming many are surely tourists!
