To ask class teacher who went in my childs bag?

SamAntHaHa · 09/10/2019 14:09

Something has been taken from my childs bag. It is not valuable and I won't get it back because it's a single use item for personal use.
I don't mind it being used by others but it's unsettling for things to be taken and not be informed by staff or my childs friends if one of them decided they wanted to take it. It feels like something being stolen from their bag since someone went in there without permission and took what they wanted when the bag was in the classroom with everyone elses bags.
AIBU to ask staff who went in my childs bag?
And then to ask the person apologise for taking it from my childs bag without mentioning it since it is stealing?

OP posts:

I’m just here to find out what the thing is! Until then I will assume it’s a heroin needle. In which case you probably shouldn’t bring it up to the teacher, OP...

TwoPupsandaHamster · 09/10/2019 15:52

How old is your DD OP? Primary school age or Secondary school age?

It matters because by Secondary School age they should be able to take care of their own school bags.

It does sound like Sanpro (As you haven't come back to confirm or deny I'm going to assume it is). Maybe one of your DD's friends came on her period and had no sanpro with her so your DD said, "I have a towel/tampon you can have". That would be perfectly normal amongst friends in school.

LittleAndOften · 09/10/2019 15:52

Bag of gerbils?

Spied · 09/10/2019 15:53

You sound very strange. Do you count these things each day after DC comes home and discuss how many have been used? If DC needed more wouldn't they ask (I'm guessing DC old enough as I'm thinking sanitary products)?
I'd not mention any of this to the class teacher. You'll be red flagged as strange.

ibanez0815 · 09/10/2019 15:54

this is one of the most frustrating posts in ages.

I jumped straight to p6 in the hope of finding out what the mystery item is but non the wiser. jeez!

Hesafriendfromwork · 09/10/2019 15:54

Polyjuice potion?

Hesafriendfromwork · 09/10/2019 15:54

Infinity stones?

Pym particle?

OtraCosaMariposa · 09/10/2019 15:55

We could make a list of possible personal, single use items.

Sanpro
Condoms
Syringes
Cotton buds for cleaning your nose/ears out
Nappies
Those little disposable plastic chewy tooth cleaner things
Medication/tablets

The vagueness is ridiculous and without knowing the age of the child and the item concerned, there is no way of knowing whether the teacher would be aware or not.

Really feel sorry for teachers having to deal with this sort of nonsense.

Swatsup · 09/10/2019 15:56

I have just read 6 pages of this rubbish just to find out what the thing was 🤦🏽‍♀️

Oysterbabe · 09/10/2019 15:58

OP says in a post on another thread that her DD is 8.

ChicCroissant · 09/10/2019 15:59

You use very emotive language OP and it does come across as you looking to find something to pull the school up on. Whether this is because of past events is hard to say, but you don't like the school at all and it does come across in your post - I'd imagine this comes across even more strongly face to face!

Has your child said that they don't know what happened to the item? Things do get lost, it is not clear from your post why you have come to the conclusion that it was taken?

Hoghgyni · 09/10/2019 16:01

So the previous incident happened when DD was 3. OP do you think your DD may have told you it was stolen from her bag rather than simply lost or used because she was worried that you may over-react?

walkintheparc · 09/10/2019 16:01

My best guess:

DD is older secondary school, mum has prepped her in case she comes on her period. This is new and excited, DD told people at school that she has a bag of sanpro in her school bag.
Either DD had a situation where she thought she needed to use it, or someone else needed to use it and was very embarrassed so just pinched it, or they were being silly and it got wasted.
Mum went furious and demanded to know where it is, DD is now lying in embarrassment or honestly doesn't know.

If the mum uses terms like 'where her legs meet' on an anonymous forum, I doubt they are having open conversations about this anyway, the poor girl.

OP - write it off, it really doesn't matter. The teacher shouldn't have to get involved in sillyness like this.

walkintheparc · 09/10/2019 16:02

DD is older secondary school Sorry meant to put PRIMARY

SirGawain · 09/10/2019 16:02

I nominate this as pointless thread of the week!

littleduckeggblue · 09/10/2019 16:03

Blatantly Sanitary towel or tampon. If this is the case then YABU. Poor girl who took it was probably desperate and embarrassed.

thenightfury · 09/10/2019 16:03

Unless the teacher was Coleen Rooney
Lol🤣

theoriginalmadambee · 09/10/2019 16:04

PP who suggested condom and meth, you absolutely win this.

My guess a prosthetic limb?

GloriaMaximus · 09/10/2019 16:05

Single use prosthetic leg.. don't be so ridiculous 😉

notsohippychick · 09/10/2019 16:06

Oh god this is like pulling teeth.

But tears of mirth at “where her legs meet”.........

BykerBykerOoh · 09/10/2019 16:06

I’m wondering if you mean test strips or needles for testing blood sugar. In which case you definitely need to speak to the teacher.

Same for any medicine. If it’s sanpro or a pencil or something YABU

LonginesPrime · 09/10/2019 16:06

Unless the teacher was Coleen Rooney

OP, put one tampon in every other child's school bag except one - it will take a few years of watching and waiting, but eventually you will discover the culprit (trust me, it will be worth the wait...).

Dandelion1993 · 09/10/2019 16:06

It's probably spare underware for a primary school child

A friend has probably had an accident, knew they had spare so stole them.

Vilanelle · 09/10/2019 16:07

OP you have really wasted my fucking time here.

Single use item for an 8 year old? No idea. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE WHO START THESE STUPID THREADS

Vilanelle · 09/10/2019 16:08

It's probably spare underware for a primary school child Knickers are not single use though
