To ask class teacher who went in my childs bag?

SamAntHaHa · 09/10/2019 14:09

Something has been taken from my childs bag. It is not valuable and I won't get it back because it's a single use item for personal use.
I don't mind it being used by others but it's unsettling for things to be taken and not be informed by staff or my childs friends if one of them decided they wanted to take it. It feels like something being stolen from their bag since someone went in there without permission and took what they wanted when the bag was in the classroom with everyone elses bags.
AIBU to ask staff who went in my childs bag?
And then to ask the person apologise for taking it from my childs bag without mentioning it since it is stealing?

I'm infuriated that I want to know what the item is enough to leave a comment to come back later...

SchadenfreudePersonified · 09/10/2019 15:31

Do you think the cryptic nature of the thread mean it's more likely to go poof at some point?

I thought that Lola

I can't see what the problem would be to admit what the item was and the age of the child.

People are anonymous on here ffs!

SafferUpNorth · 09/10/2019 15:33

Sometimes I wonder whether MNHQ posts these kinds of vague and infuriating threads as a scientific experiment to see how easily distracted we are while we should be working / picking the kids up from school / shopping for groceries / hoovering / walking the dog.... Wink

PristineCondition · 09/10/2019 15:35

Ive only got one leg, my legs never met...
My one thigh is fat though and it takes up the space of two

steff13 · 09/10/2019 15:35

If it is a tampon or pad, is this something most parents do, put a certain number in the bag and check how many have been used? My daughter is only 9, so we're not there yet, and my mom just kept them in the bathroom cabinet; I occasionally took a handful and put them in my purse. I had no idea how many I had.

TeeBee · 09/10/2019 15:35

Could it just have fallen out? If its something she uses regularly, maybe one fell out as she was messing in her bag.

ColaFreezePop · 09/10/2019 15:35

Damn I thought if I read to the end I would find out what the mystery item is.

DontCallMeShitley · 09/10/2019 15:36

What a waste of time this thread has turned out to be. Wondering what the OP is hoping for, or why they bothered to post.

LonginesPrime · 09/10/2019 15:37

So another girl was caught short and took a tampon or towel from your DD's bag

Do you really think that girl would have told the teachers? And if the teachers knew the girl needed one, do you really think they'd have rummaged through other people's bags to find one?

YABU - this doesn't require any sort of post mortem. I think the trick here is not to count the tampons in the first place.

chocatoo · 09/10/2019 15:37

ColaFreeze I skipped straight to the end for the same reason...

Hederex · 09/10/2019 15:39

If it's a sanitary towel or tampon, maybe a classmate needed one, knew she had them and was embarrassed.

If not...I don't have a clue if YABU or not!

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 09/10/2019 15:40

A hypodermic needle and crystal meth.

(Is crystal meth injected?)

SmileEachDay · 09/10/2019 15:41

My 7 year old seems to treat the item within which one carries books etc as single use, given that he never remembers to bring it out of school.

Or maybe it’s being stolen. Or I’m not counting it properly.

Confused
easyandy101 · 09/10/2019 15:41

Given your kids history at school and the fact you didn't think earlier incidents had been dealt with accordingly i can understand you're on high alert.

I think you're getting an uncalled for hard time here.

It's really unlikely however that a teacher would know, and if they knew then most teachers would have dealt with it then.

If it's an item of consequence then definitely tell the school, they should know that there's stealing occurring

If it's a minor thing then id just let it slide

AudacityOfHope · 09/10/2019 15:42

So true @SmileEachDay my son seems to think jumpers are single use items Hmm

TatianaLarina · 09/10/2019 15:43

A few years ago things were stolen from my childs bag and her teacher couldn't give a toss. The same teacher also didn't give a toss when a gang of boys were beating up my child and kicking her where her legs meet

If this is the case, why is your child still at this school?

easyandy101 · 09/10/2019 15:43

Is crystal meth injected?

People do shoot it yeah

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 09/10/2019 15:45

Jeez...it's more vague than bloody brexit!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 09/10/2019 15:46

Place marking to find out what the item is

Bowerbird5 · 09/10/2019 15:47

Report the item to the class teacher if primary. If Secondary report to the Head of Year.

I don't know why you haven't said. If it is medical it should be handed in if primary.

Why didn't you inform the Headteacher if a gang of boys beat her up etc? Was it outside of school if so you should have reported it to the Police.

UnoriginalUserName948 · 09/10/2019 15:48

What is the item, OP?

HiHoToffee · 09/10/2019 15:48

OP is getting a 'hard' time because of her vagueness.

By all means mention to the teacher that something has gone missing from your child's bag, don't ask her who did it as that would be a waste of time (very much like this thread)

TokyoSushi · 09/10/2019 15:49

WHAT'S THE THING?!?!?!

Crunchymum · 09/10/2019 15:49

This is the second annoying and unnecessarily vague thread I have had the misfortune to click on today!

The other was about someone who wanted to know if something was a red flag but would't say what the something was as it was "outing" Shock

Proseccoinamug · 09/10/2019 15:50

Counting sanitary towels or tampons and monitoring their use is weird, if that’s what it is. I don’t even know how many are in my own bag!
