Should I complain?

NC as this is very outing

I ordered a keepsake dragon made from my son's babygrows for his 1st birthday. We went for the large size and all in, it was £80. We received it today and I'm quite disappointed. It doesn't look like the dragons on the website. It's head is too big and the body is so fat, the feet don't sit properly. My DP wants to complain, he's really angry. I said they'll probably just claim they're all slightly different as made from different materials etc. If I do complain, how can I word it so I'm not rude but I get my point across? I'm also not sure what I want them to do, I want to keep it and I don't want another made because I don't want to send them more babygrows. I'm so crap at complaining and I don't want to make them feel rubbish about what they've created.

Erm, I can’t even see that is IS a dragon. I assume the picture that does look like a dragon is the sort of thing you were anticipating?

Certainly complain, if it was an £80 haircut, item of clothing etc that was so far removed from what you’d expected you would complain surely?

It’s a new way of fleecing people of money on me, though.

ScreamingValenta · 09/10/2019 12:11

Well, it's nothing like the one in the picture. It doesn't look like a dragon at all IMO.

Mintypea5 · 09/10/2019 12:12

£80?! I'd definitely complain looks nothing like the picture.

CalmdownJanet · 09/10/2019 12:12

So the one on the right is how it should look and the two on the left is what you got, is that right?

seaweedandmarchingbands · 09/10/2019 12:14

Well, setting aside the fact that the ‘proper’ one looks like an absolute waste of £80 as well, no, it doesn’t look at all like the picture.

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 09/10/2019 12:14

It doesn't really look like the one in the picture so your well within your right to complain.

Just for the fairness of balance however I will say that we have a keepsake from that company and I do love it, it's a shame yours isn't up to the standard on their website though as they arent cheap.

LolaSmiles · 09/10/2019 12:15

Neither look very much like a dragon to me.

Is this an actual company making keepsakes or someone doing a craft/hobby business?

I think you've got grounds to complain or express your dissatisfaction, but there's part of me thinking at £80 they've seen you coming. It's at most a couple of hours craft.

FatDragon · 09/10/2019 12:16

@calmdownjanet yes that's right

FatDragon · 09/10/2019 12:16

@lolasmiles it's an actual company.

FatDragon · 09/10/2019 12:17

I think I will complain then. I thought I'd get replies saying I'm being ridiculous.

Rivkka · 09/10/2019 12:18

That's dreadful

I would want a full refund

Platina · 09/10/2019 12:22

Even the "proper" one looks shit!

quincejamplease · 09/10/2019 12:22

It would help if you took your photos from the same angle as the one on the website.

  1. Because otherwise it's not a fair or easy comparison (I can't work out how the body looks in your photos compared to how it should)
  2. Because then they can't then say "it's because you're taking photos from a different angle" and dismiss you
Nonnymum · 09/10/2019 12:24

It's not very good and £80 is very expensive. My DD had soft toys made with their baby clothes for each of her children that are much nicer and much cheaper.

ElizaPancakes · 09/10/2019 12:25

I’m not saying you’re wrong to be upset and complain, but it does look a little like you’ve purposely placed yours at the most unflattering angle.

CalmdownJanet · 09/10/2019 12:25

Sorry I agree with Platina, that's why I asked to double check I wasn't wrong but the original looks shit too. I realise the buttons are meant to be nostrils but they look super shit. Definitely complain, there are loads of companies doing this, have you more babygro's? You could go elsewhere. I hope you get a refund

DontCallMeShitley · 09/10/2019 12:25

It is awful, nothing like a dragon. The other one isn't great but it at least looks like a (made by a child) dragon. Not professional looking at all.

FatDragon · 09/10/2019 12:27

@quincejamplease

I have taken crap photos to be fair. Will take better ones to email to them.

Wilmalovescake · 09/10/2019 12:29

£80.
Fuck me.

FatDragon · 09/10/2019 12:30

@CalmdownJanet

All the other baby grows I have I want to keep for potential future babies. I'm gutted. I looked at lots of companies and this was the highest rated one.

OP posts:
Crunchymum · 09/10/2019 12:33

That is shit. Utter shit.

Although I do agree that even the "good" one is a bit crap!

Clangus00 · 09/10/2019 12:36

That’s outrageous! Absolutely complain!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 09/10/2019 12:37

£80 for a cuddly toy?? Shock

The "proper" one has a label on its tail, I can't see one on yours. Are you sure you haven't stumbled across a fake website?

FatDragon · 09/10/2019 12:40

@sparepantsandtoothbrush

There is a label, you just can't see it in those photos.

OP posts:
Newschapter · 09/10/2019 12:41

Omg it's terrible.

Even the 'real' one isn't worth £80 in my opinion, but I appreciate we all hold different value to certain things.

The big buttons for nostrils are awful too but again, it's part of the design you liked.

It looks uneven in the pic?
