Should I complain?

NC as this is very outing

I ordered a keepsake dragon made from my son's babygrows for his 1st birthday. We went for the large size and all in, it was £80. We received it today and I'm quite disappointed. It doesn't look like the dragons on the website. It's head is too big and the body is so fat, the feet don't sit properly. My DP wants to complain, he's really angry. I said they'll probably just claim they're all slightly different as made from different materials etc. If I do complain, how can I word it so I'm not rude but I get my point across? I'm also not sure what I want them to do, I want to keep it and I don't want another made because I don't want to send them more babygrows. I'm so crap at complaining and I don't want to make them feel rubbish about what they've created.

Oh OP what a shame. You must be so disappointed Sad. I have ordered 2 similar items (bears not dragons) from a company called keepsake Kate. Highly recommend, if you decide to cut your losses and go elsewhere

I feel sorry for it, as unacceptable as it is to pity an inanimate object 😂 it reminds me of those stories about an odd looking, neglected toy which no one loves or wants to look after....sob.

I have a keep sake from the same company OP and it's excellent (we chose the monkey). I think it looks like they've rushed yours or had issues with it unfortunately which is a shame as they are a brilliant company. I'd contact them and see what they say.

@Pigletthedog I am so gutted. Even if we get our money back, I doubt the dragon can be fixed so the whole idea/sentiment is ruined. Thank you, I will have a look👍

@Sagradafamiliar haha I know what you mean! DS will probably love it, kids do like weird things😏

@Emus I was going to choose the teddy or monkey but DP convinced me that the dragon would be cooler. Not sure if it would've made a different though. All the reviews I've seen are really good so I'm sure this is just an exception for whatever reason.

I wouldn’t even pay £80 for the one it’s meant to look like! You’ve been ripped off!

midnightmisssuki · 09/10/2019 23:23

It’s so ugly I dont even know what it is. I would ask for money back. Your little one will probably love it. It’ll be a hoot when he turns 18 and says to his mates - check out my baby dragon and then pulls out that - it’s almost funny how bad it is :-)

GooodMythicalMorning · 09/10/2019 23:50

It's kind of cute, but sad they couldnt get it right!

Aridane · 10/10/2019 00:00

It is a bit shit

IsobelRae23 · 10/10/2019 00:13

He’s that ugly and all wrong, that he’s sort of cute and loveable. (But not for £80)

FatDragon · 10/10/2019 11:24

They have replied and they're going to fix the issues :)

tryingtocatchthewind · 10/10/2019 11:49

That’s great news, I guess they have enough material left over to fix it.

FatDragon · 30/10/2019 09:27

The dragon is back! I love him now ☺️

It's not much better, but if you like it that's all that matters

TwattingDog · 03/11/2019 22:18

I love him! We're ordering 3 monkeys from my DH military uniform for the nephews at Christmas. I drop it all off tomorrow.

misspiggy19 · 03/11/2019 22:20

£80 for that? Blush

TwattingDog · 03/11/2019 22:24

£80 - with minimum wage being £8.21/hr, think about all the work that has gone into it.

Cutting out the pattern from non-standard items, the stitching and the shaping will have to be done by someone with good skills in this area.

They then have to pay for overheads, and make a profit somewhere along the way.

I'd say people undervalue this sort of thing, as it's not being made in a sweatshop in China.

New dragon looks great. Very cute.
