To be so skint I'm considering being a sex chat worker?

Has anyone done this and what was it like? I'm a single mum with lots of time in the evenings. I'm quite open minded and not a prude. My wage just about covers everything and I don't qualify for any top ups but could really do with extra cash and this pays weekly.

However, you are an adult and if its an option that you'd be comfortable with (including excepting all the risks and downsides) than go for it. Obviously I assume you have looked at other options and for one reason or another they are not suitable for you?

I did it when I was on my own in the evenings when I first left my children’s dad 8 years ago. I did it for a website where you rarely messaged the same person twice. There was a little feed in the corner of important information he knew about “you” and you had to quickly scan the message thread before you replied so you didn’t make a mistake. Apart from feeling the odd twinge of guilt for these guys it was okay. Some were just up for general chit chat, others had much dirtier minds. It’s definitely an eye opener!

If you are ok with numbers , matched betting is an earner. It’s not gambling and it’s not illegal. There’s lots of start up threads on here.

I've explored other options and they don't really fit in with me. This is actually talking to people in the phone which I do every day for a living so that doesn't bother me. I'm quite confident and bubbly so will find it ok. I know there will be pearl clutchers along shortly but honestly I don't care - I need extra cash as I got into quite a lot of debt leaving an abusive husband. After bills are paid and food I'm left with £3 at the end of the month so anything is better than nothing.

Doesnt pay that much. You could do some online surveys instead and make a couple of hundred a month without the creep factor. Try Qmee and Crowdology and prolific.

I tried the surveys god it's boring and you earn 2p or something, the pervs are starting to look better in comparison, but I still wouldn't Envy (not envy).

There is a lot worse that you could be doing, for money or otherwise! I think as long as you have thought it through and feel you can handle it emotionally it is fine. Also, perhaps have a think about where the 'line' of acceptability would be for you... I am sure there have been others in this line of work who have ventured to more intimate work etc.

It sounds like you have considered alternatives already. So apologies for thinking out loud! Have you contacted Citizens' Advice to avail of all benefits you may be entitled to? What about other jobs like childminding?

I had a friend do this when she was seriously short of cash, just talking on the phone so no photos or anything like that, but because she's amazing at accents she made quite a bit money from it.

I saw her take a call one day and she answered in this sultry Russian accent and I was overcome with a mixture of awe at her ability to switch from Queens English to full on Russian spy and hilarity...! Needless to say I had to leave the room Grin

But to answer your post OP, as long as you're happy and comfortable with it, why not.

I do online surveys and it doesn't bring in that much extra cash to be honest. Maybe £20 a month maximum but there may be more profitable site than the ones I use.

I easily get £200 a month but I have evenings free to devote to it. It really is very boring but when you can pay for christmas with it ( which I just have!)Its worth the boredom.

I devote several hours a day after I but child to bed and use several sites, going between them with tabs open. There are easier ways to make money outside the house but not while i'm home with my child.
