To re-heat 4 day old takeaway?

I'd just like a quick poll on whether IABU or not because I really fancy popping the leftover Chinese food in the oven that we ordered on Friday. I normally have a cast iron stomach so I'd have no problem but DH is less keen.
Opinions welcome Smile

There is some hysteria methinks regarding my luscious reheated Chinese food.

Special chow mien (no rice)
King prawn & cashew nuts (no rice)
Special fried rice (admittedly this dish did contain rice (no shit Sherlock) but I hand picked all the tasty meaty bits out so only a few grains of hemlock rice remained so I could add it all to the one delicious pot of Chinese take oot re-loaded

I think OP will be fine, but placemaking anyway to see if she survives.

taytosandwich · 08/10/2019 23:51

4 day old prawns FS you dirty bugger 😂😂

LadyAndiBella · 08/10/2019 23:55

Good night op. Hope you don't gets a bad case of the squirts during the night/ early morning Wink

frogsoup · 08/10/2019 23:59

Personally if I ate that I'd be properly buggered, and I'm pretty lax with leftovers. (If I'd cooked it myself, rice included, I'd definitely eat it!) However, I reckon that some people do have more cast iron stomachs than us mere mortals. My pil eat food that is practically crawling across the table of its own accord (8-day-old turkey leftovers at Xmas stored on the bone in a not-very-cold-larder Envy ). They haven't had food poisoning in decades. I have a theory that a lot of people are as careful with food storage as their stomach allows! So OP you'll probably be fine Grin. Though do let us know that you are still alive in a few days, all the same...

bumblingbovine49 · 09/10/2019 00:01

The hysteria on here about leftovers bemuses me. I think that would be fine. I'd give the rice a miss. I always bin uneaten rice from the takeaway but I'd eat Indian takeaway 3-4 days out of the fridge. In fact I often eat them cold as the flavours taste better to me that way especially chicken dhansak yum !

user764329056 · 09/10/2019 00:02

Respect OP, you’re hardcore

ReadyPayerTwo · 09/10/2019 00:17

Good God no 🤢

managedmis · 09/10/2019 00:33

MN at its finest

Like the old days

Sparklfairy · 09/10/2019 00:43

I love a reheated curry for breakfast or leftover pizza with extra cheese and hot sauce... But even I would draw the line at this! I hate food waste but that combination of meat/fish/rice after four days would finish me off Grin

If you survive, your iron stomach will become the stuff of legends Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 09/10/2019 00:49

I once swept ants off a pizza and ate it for breakfast but I was young and stupid, and also still drunk from the night before.
I clearly didn't die though sooooo...

TheNestedIf · 09/10/2019 02:20

I would eat it at 4 days if it were food I'd cooked and refrigerated immediately but a takeaway? No. Just, no.

And then I saw it contained prawns as well.

I'm sorry I didn't manage to find this thread sooner with the number for The Samaritans.

TheNestedIf · 09/10/2019 02:41

Actually, no, sorry. Even if you do post again saying you were fine, I'm not going to believe it was you. It's just the former you having an Out Of Botty experience.

AbsentmindedWoman · 09/10/2019 04:05

Ugh Grin

I hope you're ok OP, but wasn't it all congealed and ripe smelling when you opened the storage container?

Did you really just mix it all up and throw it in the oven in one dish?

TheNestedIf · 09/10/2019 04:53

This is Russian Poolet.

Sorry for the multi-posts but I'm horrified and I've got a yoghurt in the fridge from months ago that I haven't ruled out on the basis it hasn't exploded yet.

LoseLooseLucy · 09/10/2019 08:28

You dead yet OP?

cushioncovers · 09/10/2019 08:50

Eagerly waits update from op.

WheelDecide · 09/10/2019 08:50

Are you the poo troll playing the long game?

Grin

@managedmis. There have been a few threads recently I've thought 'its like the old days'.

Wondering if OP has WiFi in loo as v quiet today or dead.

Wheninfrome · 09/10/2019 09:06

Morning!

I'm here in fine fettle and not remotely dead. Had to get up once in the night for a pee and to let the dog out (not a euphemism) but no dram at chez Frome Grin

WildCherryBlossom · 09/10/2019 09:15

Yay! Three cheers for OP and her cast iron stomach. And three cheers for the Chinese takeaway of Frome which obviously uses fairly fresh ingredients. I would totally have eaten 4 day old takeaway myself but I'm veggie so no meat or fish to worry about. Personally more of a curry girl and if I find myself in need of a takeaway in that neck of the woods there is a great Indian in Bradford on Avon.

LoseLooseLucy · 09/10/2019 09:18

Yay! Cast iron indeed 💪

MumMcMumface · 09/10/2019 09:21

let the dog out Grin

Hiphopopotamus · 09/10/2019 09:22

Grin I can believe the hysteria on this thread of people who are so shocked at how ‘disgusting’ the OP is. It’s food in the fridge for four days properly reheated!! Blimey - get a grip!!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 09/10/2019 09:22

Wow, glad you enjoyed your Chinese and you're not dead

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 09/10/2019 09:32

Is it wrong that I'm slightly disappointed? Grin

Have you checked on your DH?Wink
