To re-heat 4 day old takeaway?

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 19:54

I'd just like a quick poll on whether IABU or not because I really fancy popping the leftover Chinese food in the oven that we ordered on Friday. I normally have a cast iron stomach so I'd have no problem but DH is less keen.
Opinions welcome Smile

Oh god no, 3 days absolute max and prawns ffs?!

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 21:52

Oh and the 'oot' isn't a spelling mistake- DH is Geordie and that's how it's pronounced

Are you the poo troll playing the long game?

Divorce678 · 08/10/2019 22:07

Can’t bear to read the latest updates - I’m just back to say ‘please don’t eat it OP’ ....

Blutopia · 08/10/2019 22:11

Christ I'm getting the shits just thinking about it. But kudos to you for your stupidity bravery, you could offer me a cool million and I wouldn't eat 4 day old takeaway. In fact, I wouldn't eat the combination of rice, prawns and pork from a takeaway in the first place, but I'm excessively paranoid.

Good luck, please let us know how you are in the next 72 hours!

Bluntness100 · 08/10/2019 22:21

Op, you can see the nhs guidelines is not to keep cooked rice for more than one day refrigerated.

Seriously in addition you don't know if it was already reheated by the restaurant, I actually feel sick thinking about what you've just done.

Good luck.

zzzzzzzz12345 · 08/10/2019 22:21

I wouldn’t reheat any takeaway. Only food I've cooked myself. Four days later is gross - why is it even still in your fridge?!

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 08/10/2019 22:28

I reckon OP will be fine. Prawns are definitely a more risky item but it's most likely fine. Chicken/pork/ beef would all be no problem to reheat 4 days after cooking in my house. Beef lasts longest I find.

Those saying it was probably cooked 4 days beforehand in the takeaway, are you for real? I really doubt that's allowed under food safety authority regs.

Cabezona · 08/10/2019 22:30

If you don't update tomorrow, we will all assume you have died. Grin

which1 · 08/10/2019 22:33

I would.
But I drink milk 4 weeks after the use by date with no issues.

SouthernComforts · 08/10/2019 22:34

4 day old prawny rice is the Olympic gold of leftovers, I'm impressed. I sense you are a woman not afraid to die.

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 22:35

To whoever posted re me being a poo troll - nope sorry to disappoint. Nothing to see here , however am seriously considering kicking several shades of 💩 out of DH who has woofed his food and is now chomping his way through a 6 pack of hoola hoops whilst I'm still trying to watch GBBO 😖

I can’t believe there’s people so grotty they’d start a thread about the possible dangers of eating 4 day old takeaway fish, and then eat it anyway. Disgusting 🤢

agododopushpineapple · 08/10/2019 22:39

🙏 for you op - may your stomach remain intact!

Littleem1983 · 08/10/2019 22:41

if there is rice absolutely not. Rice is one of the most dangerous foods for food posioning. Know this through experience.

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 22:41

@Raphael34 not a takeaway fish you ninny. When I go to the chippy for Cod,chips & scraps I'm lucky if there's even the paper left that it was wrapped in!

🤮😭

scrivette · 08/10/2019 22:43

Am sure you will be fine, I probably would have eaten it cold though but I cut mould off of bread and cheese Grin

JeffreyJefferson · 08/10/2019 22:43

No way. Next day fine. 4 days NO WAY

Aveisenim · 08/10/2019 22:45

Hell to the no...

Aveisenim · 08/10/2019 22:46

As in I wouldn't eat 4-day old takeaway, that's asking to be ill!

JeffreyJefferson · 08/10/2019 22:47

why would you ask for advice then do the exact opposite of what everyone has said?

blanketsallday · 08/10/2019 22:53

I'm scared for you OP... do update us.

Wheninfrome · 08/10/2019 22:55

I wasn't looking for advice, just opinions. I was always going to eat it but DH was being a bit of a wuss which is unlike him cos like me he will usually eat anything. Maybe I should have put 'lighthearted' in the title 🙄

OP posts:
JeffreyJefferson · 08/10/2019 22:58

Oh OP i think i came across wrong. I meant it as a jokey lighthearted way. Sorry
