To ask for the best twin names ever?

I have twin boys. I won't tell you their names but they are not related or themed. Think Dave and Tom rather than Jack and Daniel.

I do love hearing about twin names though and how different parents deal with it. Do you do obvious links, themes or just two completely different names?

There were some preschool twin boys on the bus a couple of years ago and their mother was shouting at them to sit down. Their names were Ronnie and Reggie. I was Hmm Really?

Other twin names I’ve encountered are Harley and Marley, Carrie and Josie, Emma and Claire, Rebecca and Jessica, John and Matthew.

My twin boys names are completely unconnected, and don’t start with the same initial - I just liked the names (their middle names are ‘family’ names though so there is a connection there

Most of the twins I’ve met over the years (and you meet a lot of twins when you have twins) are the same - two ‘normal’ and non connected names
Did meet a Nia (girl) and Noah at twins club once when mine were babies though....

I know twin girls called Amber and Ruby, which I quite like - they're on a theme, but they're sufficiently different.

NonnoMum · 08/10/2019 20:02

I always wanted to call my twin girls Cleopatra and Jane. i.e one really over the top name and one plain. And then label them as such "She's the diva, she's the plain one..."

But fortunately for the world I only ever had singletons...

Slightly off topic but DS told me when he was at nursery school that there were twins in his class. I didn’t think there were so I asked how he knew they were twins - he said they looked alike and were both called Frank!
And even better I later discovered there was only one boy called Frank and for some reason DS thought there were two - who both looked the same!
He’s 15 now and surprisingly quite smart....

I also have a friend with twin boys, one of whom is called Cain. We joked about her calling the other one Abel, but sensibly she decided against.

There was a thread in the names section a while back started by someone who supposedly wanted to call her twin girls Camilla and Diana.

I think it was a troll though.

When I was in primary school in the 80s, there were boy/girl twins in my class called Ricardo and Ricarda!

RaveOnThisCrazyFeeling · 08/10/2019 20:13

Identical girls named Celia and Alice. All the same letters, totally different but equally nice names. I probably wouldn't do it, but I like it.

TooManyPaws · 08/10/2019 20:13
