My friend thinks my husband should divorce me

... For doing this to a block of cheese Grin For some reason my DH gets really wound up when people (usually DD) grate the cheese from the 'wrong' end (ie, an end that isn't already grated). Earlier, I was grating cheese for tea and I had a lightbulb moment and grated every possible end, edge, side, corner and angle on the block of cheese Grin

My friend is horrified and thinks DH should divorce me for so much wrongness Grin

Obviously lighthearted

The only way to grate cheese!

sam221 · 07/10/2019 05:25

Cheese is too delicious to mess around with and desecrate!!!

RhiWrites · 07/10/2019 06:26

Red Leicester is the only acceptable ‘basic’ cheese. Cheddar is vile and it’s unchallenged ubiquity is because no one is brave enough to admit its horrible and ask for something else instead. Like iceberg lettuce.

I'm a Double Gloucester girl, myself.

Pollydocket · 07/10/2019 09:47

Awful, why would you do that?

Have you also plugged it in? It looks like you’re charging it up😀

AmIThough · 07/10/2019 09:51

I actually took a sharp intake of breath when I saw that picture and immediately forwarded it on to Crimestoppers

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/10/2019 09:57

@PhilCornwall1 I'm grating cheese like that from now on.

OP l love you.

No DP here BUT I am going to grate my cheese this evening like this in homage (fromage).

I have guests. That'll flush out the mumsnetters. Grin

misskatamari · 07/10/2019 10:17

oh gosh it looks so wrong! So YABU!

But YANBU as it is also hilarious!!!

Bumfuzzled · 07/10/2019 10:22

You both deserve each other. Him for buying revolting orange cheese and you for your crimes against grating Shock

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 07/10/2019 10:25

personally I think it's fine to grate whatever side you want to but for goodness sake then slice a bit off to make it neat

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 10:42

I’ve been thinking about this. I’m lobbying for a lifetime ban from MN. Sorry but that’s how I feel...

ElizaDee · 07/10/2019 11:23

When we get more cheese I'm going to bite it and put it back just for the lolz.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/10/2019 12:34

I've started a war apparently! And I'm not right in the head GrinGrin I was nearly doubled over crying with laughter as he was opening it 😂😂

Lekky12 · 07/10/2019 12:38

I'm no grating expert... But man... How do you do that to the biggest surface of a cheese block without grating your fingertips? Impressed for that bit.
But for the rest. Sacrilege.

Tessabelle74 · 07/10/2019 17:36

Can I vote YABU twice?? My husband is a wrong end grater too, one of these days I might grate HIS wrong end! 😲

81Byerley · 07/10/2019 17:40

But the cheese is ORANGE!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 07/10/2019 17:42

Well yes, it's Red Leicester. Why are so many people baffled at its colour?! Does no-one ever look at the deli counter and see all the different coloured cheeses? Confused

OP posts:
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 17:44

Very popular in Scotland for some reason. I worked on a deli when I was a student and the ‘orange’ cheddar sold better than the white (tasted the same).

manicmij · 07/10/2019 17:59

Grate it all. Then he wouldn't have an end to stand on!

FelicisNox · 07/10/2019 18:03

You should have left some teeth marks in it, that would have really finished him off.

Mwahahahaha!Grin

LisaD76 · 07/10/2019 18:03

Sorry I get annoyed because my oh doesn’t cut off a piece of cheese to grate.... I hate grated ends and always cut off what I need before grating

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 07/10/2019 18:06

I always cut off a piece if I’m grating it. Usually I’m too lazy to grate and just chop it.
