I've been sent an invitation to a wedding and they say

"Instead of bits and bobs, give a few bob. A scratchcard (or two) will suffice. But if we're a winner, call us a. You won't see the prize, just fancy new teeth and a pug called Keith"

I think it's brilliant

Will be going with £30 worth of scratch cards.

I wouldn't buy scratch cards as a gift, seems like a big waste of money as the chance of winning anything is so low. I would rather give them £30 cash.

I don't like buying scratchcards for people - would be too put out if they won! Don't think it's any grabbier than asking for cash/honeymoon funds/gift list though, it's all the same principle.

I like the tongue in cheek poem, it's deliberately awful for a change. But I'd be very annoyed if they bought a pug, whether they call it Keith or not!
