What was this 90s kid's programme?!

I have this strong memory of watching a series at primary school (Scotland) in the 90s, where they had to collect big golden pieces of a jigsaw - I think it made a castle - by solving riddles? I can still remember the song, and I think it had the line 'to save the world of Panamar', or some kind of made-up place name starting with 'P'. Please help me remember it! I can still vividly remember the excitement when they wheeled in the humongous tv to watch the next installment!

Through the dragon's Eye.

Marybennet · 05/10/2019 21:27

Pelamar.

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 05/10/2019 21:27

Through the Dragon's Eye. I watched it in the late 80s and fucking loved it.

lfoatw2 · 05/10/2019 21:28

Through the dragon's eye?

Scottishgirl85 · 05/10/2019 21:28

Oh my gosh that's it!!!!! Thank you!!! I'm off to see if it's on youtube!

Definitely through the dragons eye. Loved that and used to watch it at school too

Annaskies · 05/10/2019 21:31

With the weird scary crow thing

Scottishgirl85 · 05/10/2019 21:32

Found it and I may just have a bit of a wet eye. Thank you ladies. My daughter is a similar age to when I watched this, my goodness how the world was simpler then... I think I'll watch it with her!

That crow thing scared the life out of me. Charn was it called?

Daffodils07 · 05/10/2019 21:40

We watched through the dragons eye at school, happy memories.

ShowOfHands · 05/10/2019 21:41

North or South, East or West...

I watched it on YouTube with 8yo ds a few months ago and he loved it. He was less impressed with Geordie Racer!

PavlovaFaith · 05/10/2019 21:42

Oh my goodness I remember that!

ChristmasInJuly · 05/10/2019 21:43

It was so weird. We used to watch it at primary school. No idea why. I’m guessing some sort of stimulus for creative writing? But it was most odd!

winewolfhowls · 05/10/2019 21:46

I loved this. There was moris, Doris and Boris and one of them had an extending cricket bat (or did I dream that bit?!)

It was one of the series that had badger girl too

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 05/10/2019 21:53

Bloody hell, I thought I'd made this tv show up! All I could remember was a purple lady melting into a puddle and just her specs were left in it and NOBODY else I know remembers it and they all think I'm mad - but it's this!!! I've just googled it! I'm so relieved it wasn't my imagination and I'm not totally bonkers!

Wallabyone · 05/10/2019 21:55

I don't remember this, but do remember Geordie Racer. What a strange bloody programme! I've just read about it being a BBC educational programme-really don't know why we watched it Grin

neonglow · 05/10/2019 21:59

Oh I remember watching this at school in the very late 1990’s. Have just wiki’d it and apparently it was made in the 80’s. It was a ‘look and read’ educational programme.

I had a skim through the other series and now remember watching ‘Spywatch’ about WW2 evacuees and ‘Skyhunter’ about illegal theft of bird eggs

FurrySlipperBoots · 05/10/2019 22:03

Spywatch was the best one!

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/10/2019 22:05

Look and read, they had several series.
I was utterly terrified of The thin Man, from The Boy From Space.

AlpacaGoodnight · 05/10/2019 22:06

Every few years I remember this-it was my favourite! Loved the theme tune and also the tune to Geordie racer!

Janaih · 05/10/2019 22:06

I once watched all the episodes of Geordie racer on a slow afternoon at work. fantastic.

TheScruffyDog · 05/10/2019 22:08

Definitely through the dragons eye. I watched it at school, then when I was a TA ten years later they were still using it! I was THRILLED!

BiBiBirdie · 05/10/2019 22:10

Through the Dragons Eye was brilliant. We then had worksheets to do afterwards in our classroom.
Nothing better than seeing the big wooden TV on wheels coming in back then.

raspberryk · 05/10/2019 22:10

Lol I remember this.
At infant school we also watched "magic e" , was laughing recently about magic e being a different thing nowadays.
We also watched Geordie Racer.

Petrichor11 · 05/10/2019 22:10

I loved Through The Dragons Eye! A very gripping storyline for an educational program with a lovely theme song
