DP putting cheese on every single meal I make!

I really like to cook. I spend probably at least an hour every night making something for tea.

Maybe I'm just over reacting, but my dp puts grated cheddar or double gloucester (depending what's in the house) on every single meal I make. The only exception is curry...

Now I understand that a bit of grated cheese is nice on some things, fajitas, spag bol maybe but I've made two cheesy pasta dishes this week and he's put cheese on them too and it's just really got on my nerves! First was macaroni then tonight I made a tomato and mascarpone sauce, which he said tasted lovely, then takes a couple handfuls of cheese to put on top. Every dinner time he stands and grates cheese to put on the table. ! We've been together 7.5 years so this isn't new but I just want to know if I'm being unreasonable in finding it so frustrating. I find it quite offensive to be honest that none of my meals are palatable without a handful of grated cheese! Sad This turned into a bit of a womble Blush

Came to say most dishes are improved with a bit of cheese but i see that ive been beaten to it Grin

So far this week my family have grated cheese onto every single meal. Including spinach and feta risotto and a veg and halloumi stir fry. Don’t give them the idea you can put cheese on curry...

@Chembe

My son puts ketchup on every I cook which annoys the hell out of me but he likes it so there is nothing I can do about it.

My husband used to smell every meal a put infront of him until I told if he didn't stop stiffing his food I would push his face in it Grin

As for putting cheese on meals you cook from him ... I'd be like the side of a house if I did that. How big is he?

Jenasaurus · 04/10/2019 05:22

I adore cheese, and would probably do the same as your DH in fact ive been known to put cheese on cheese. One Christmas I bought 2 big blocks of cranberry and wensleydale, and one block mysteriously vanished overnight, oddly it was the same week I gained 4 pounds.

Wow. I had no idea mumsnet was so obsessed with cheese. I’m actually with you @Chembe on this though. I think it’s rude to add extras to a meal someone has cooked for you, especially without even bothering to taste it. It kind of makes a mockery of however long you spent cooking it or following a recipe. The CheeseMan is basically saying “it’s inedible without two handfuls of cheddar”.

I wouldn’t cook for someone who did this, not anything that requires effort. I’d make myself the complex layered lasagne and they could have plain pasta to add their infernal cheese to.

73Sunglasslover · 04/10/2019 19:47

Yes, it’s rude. He also has an unsophisticated palate if he can’t enjoy different foods and just wants the taste of cheese all the time. Toddlers do that, not grown men.

Or maybe he has a much more sophisticated palate than you and can taste the cheese as well as the other flavours. Perhaps as you grow up you will be able to as well.

Hederex · 04/10/2019 19:49

Sorry OP. Cheese is completely necessary on most meals.

LoreleiRock · 05/10/2019 04:29

😂 taste the cheese. Yep 73 I look forward to being as cool as you.

OooErMissus · 05/10/2019 05:25

😂

“Your definition of ‘perfection’ may differ significantly from mine.“

But how do you know how far away from perfection it is without tasting it? Why would you just guess instead of knowing how much you want?

Good old cheddar on a curry is amazing, I am really disappointed when out and the restaurant uses proper paneer
