To mourn MN as it was in the Moulden Days

GregoriaTheGreat · 02/10/2019 21:59

Admittedly, it was not perfect (full of quiches and Queen Bees). So much so that I gave it a rest for a considerable while. I may even have Flounced at some point (though was not a Mouldie. I would never have been cool enough).

But I now mourn the Olden Days when nobody had to bother with "lighthearted" when a thread was evidently lighthearted. Nobody took everything quite so seriously, even when they would have good reason to.

Posters generally had a decent command of spelling and grammar, too.

Maybe I'm just old and need to take up knitting or something.

Really sorry to hear @Bonsoir was ill. I used to love her Parisian tales of chic ness and her explanations of why British women were fat. Along with her school obsession. Hope she's better.

Hullygully · 03/10/2019 22:04

Blimey, I see what you mean about the nasty new people on MN.

NoSauce · 03/10/2019 22:04

Who could you possibly mean?

You’ve read the thread haven’t you? Work it out.

PablosHoney · 03/10/2019 22:05

😂 Nasty new people

NoSauce · 03/10/2019 22:06

Blimey, I see what you mean about the nasty new people on MN

Nah. These aren’t nasty new people.

untoldstories · 03/10/2019 22:06

Was it Bonsoir who lived above the KwikFit on the Peripherique?
I remember someone did?

limitedperiodonly · 03/10/2019 22:09

I am not sad @Hullygully. I have given my honest opinion

untoldstories · 03/10/2019 22:11

@NoSauce

Read the thread?
Are you kidding, it's 483 posts long.

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2019 22:14

LisaSimpsonsbff there's a stealthpolarbear on reddit and it's not me Shock

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/10/2019 22:15

I miss Zombie.
The final threads were tough.

There was that one time she went to meet a poster who was apparently in trouble and it turned out to be WashWithCare.

Was “trust nae fucker” Scottish Mummy?

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2019 22:15

I must have been first.
I should have copyrighted

HumberElla · 03/10/2019 22:15

Lovely to hear so many familiar names from the past on here. Sad reminder that some have passed on too.

I loved reading the spats, the wit and wisdom when I joined 11 yrs ago-ish. Didn’t post much but I remember being shown enormous kindness when I needed it.

That humour, warmth and intelligence is still here. I stay on one or two sections only now though.

untoldstories · 03/10/2019 22:16

GabbyLogon, now there was a character.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/10/2019 22:17

I bloody hate having to stick lighthearted on a thread. Hubby makes me murderous.

GregoriaTheGreat · 03/10/2019 22:20

Well, it's even more like the Good Old Days, as I get called off to work, and come back and find all the cool people have been having fun without me, and now I'm knackered and sore because I fell off a horse today, and need to go to bed and not start Googling to find out what reddit is.

Sigh.

OP posts:
derxa · 03/10/2019 22:20

Nah. These aren’t nasty new people. Nasty common people I presume

untoldstories · 03/10/2019 22:22

ChazsBrilliantAttitude

Don't do it, if people are too daft to work out if someone is being mildly amusing it really is their problem.
A joke isn't funny if you say ''This is a joke btw'' first.

And if it offends them they can always not get involved, it really is that simple.

GregoriaTheGreat · 03/10/2019 22:22

P.S.

Read the thread?
Are you kidding, it's 483 posts long

That's what I call a proper post.

I LOVED GabbyLogon!

untoldstories · 03/10/2019 22:24

derxa

Common as muck I'd say. Wink

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/10/2019 22:28

untoldstories

True. In the good old days you could just point out they were a humourless tosser and carry on with the joke.

MemphisMum · 03/10/2019 22:30

there were quite a few bears....stranded,stealth probably more too

never believed the surprise baby though, just didn't believe her

untoldstories · 03/10/2019 22:34

ChazsBrilliantAttitude

Yes, and that's what's changed, it's all snide now, you can't have a disagreement without being reported, it's like school.
I hate, hate ,hate deleted posts, if someone is really nasty let it stand so other people can see what a meanie they are.

Just don't take it to heart too much, it's just wordsonascreen to quote a long gone poster who could be a right nasty piece of work when she wanted.

PlacidPenelope · 03/10/2019 22:35

Blimey, I see what you mean about the nasty new people on MN.

In them there olden days we were always ever so nice and kind and friendly to everyone always, those rose tinted glasses should receive an award.

derxa · 03/10/2019 22:45

Common as muck I'd say. I welcome our Zoflora overlords Grin
I'd rather them than the sneery ones of old.
