To mourn MN as it was in the Moulden Days

Admittedly, it was not perfect (full of quiches and Queen Bees). So much so that I gave it a rest for a considerable while. I may even have Flounced at some point (though was not a Mouldie. I would never have been cool enough).

But I now mourn the Olden Days when nobody had to bother with "lighthearted" when a thread was evidently lighthearted. Nobody took everything quite so seriously, even when they would have good reason to.

Posters generally had a decent command of spelling and grammar, too.

Maybe I'm just old and need to take up knitting or something.

This thread made it to the MN troll hunter page

ChestyNut · 05/10/2019 16:28

AnyFucker your Christmas name change to AnyFuckerForAMincePie was total genius

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 16:43

The reddit troll hunters aren’t Hullys fans today Shock what a flock of twats.

Hullygully · 05/10/2019 16:54

I shan't look

So rude, after I coo-eed them too

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 16:56

I wouldn’t bother if I were you. There is a poster I’m trying to remember who used to be so knowledgable about race issues and really taught me a lot

Fizzypoo · 05/10/2019 16:56

I've just had a look at reddit MN. I've never been before. Artandco was a troll! I was always envious of her late evenings, trips to the museums and minimal lifestyle in London.

Well I'm flabbergasted.

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 16:58

It’s really odd isn’t it! And not all of it is troll hunting just random slaggings off

WimbledonMam · 05/10/2019 17:09

Whatever happened to Want2bsupermum? I’d be exhausted reading her posts. And Mrskoala who seemed to lurch from one crisis to another. She faced some real challenges.
Bonsoir/Bobochic hasn’t been around for a while.

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 17:10

Something that sticks in my mind is when Anyfucker took a stand over something and got a temporary ban (can’t remember what over) but one over excited poster described her as ‘just like Rosa Parkes’ GrinShock

Soola · 05/10/2019 17:13

Bless them for quoting me! 😂 I guess posting on Reddit keeps them off the streets.

If you do read their posts this is the mental image I get of what they look like-

Hullygully · 05/10/2019 17:13

I remember being suddenly banned for saying that santa wasn't real.

That was surreal, I kept saying But it's true, we all know it is, while people rent their breasts and called me The Destroyer of Christmas Magic.

I always wondered why they couldn't just say, yeah he isn't but so what?

I have loved this thread.
Being reminded of posters and stuff that has happened (and making me wonder where other posters are...Leningrad?)
Mumsnet is a wierd thing to try and quantify, how a vast array of people, most of whom I have never met, have been a part of the last 13 years since having children. Some have become friends in real life, other posters I only see on here, but a shared sense of humour and shared experience, makes them really special. I find it amazing to have found someone who has gone through the same 1 in a stupidlybignumber chance type of miscarriage as me, and who wants to panic and joke about the ridiculousness of carrying around a 2litre bottle of piss, and in the same place to have found someone who has a child with special needs and years later it turns out they have the same extremely rare genetic condition. Pisjoëgs and wankers and honking geese and caring carrots and soupy's flapjacks and imaginary coffee shops and people who will tell me the best type of camping mat....these have made mumsnet magical to me, and make it worth putting up with arseholes, trolls, arrogance and people who have disappeared up their own arse due to their own sense of importance. If I feel ignored sometimes...meh. If people are dinguses...meh...there has always been bad stuff - but there is still good stuff here, same as there ever was.

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 17:17

I remember a thread where one poster claimed that their grandmothers dying regret on her actual death bed was that her parents had lied about there being a father Christine

hazeyjane · 05/10/2019 17:19

Oh Hully, there I was waxing all lyrical, and you have to fuck it up by literally killing Santa. Un-fucking-believable.

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 17:19

Well said hazeyjane. When I first started I totally admit that I was shocked that people took it so seriously and thought it was a bit pathetic as luckily for me I had people to talk to in real life but I also fully admit I was arrogant and immature

Hullygully · 05/10/2019 17:21

here here hazey

And FATHER CHRISTINE

just marvellous

Hullygully · 05/10/2019 17:23

I might get the last word

Hullygully · 05/10/2019 17:23

going

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 17:23

No you don’t

PablosHoney · 05/10/2019 17:24

Father Christine is a progressive priest

Hullygully · 05/10/2019 17:25

Transgressive you mean
