To mourn MN as it was in the Moulden Days

Admittedly, it was not perfect (full of quiches and Queen Bees). So much so that I gave it a rest for a considerable while. I may even have Flounced at some point (though was not a Mouldie. I would never have been cool enough).

But I now mourn the Olden Days when nobody had to bother with "lighthearted" when a thread was evidently lighthearted. Nobody took everything quite so seriously, even when they would have good reason to.

Posters generally had a decent command of spelling and grammar, too.

Maybe I'm just old and need to take up knitting or something.

I was going for tongue in cheek TBH but never mind. I didn't hear a klaxon, the thread appeared in Trending so I opened it.

I’ve suddenly got an urge to visit Sporner Corner.

I wonder, Sparkling, if ginger is coming over from The Other Place?

@gingersausage some of us who don't name change, who have been here for a very long time (13 years for me) do recognise, and have got to know other posters. So we respond to each other in a more familiar way. That does not mean that there's some klaxon going off anywhere other than in the list of Active Conversations.

I just did it as well, but for a couple of other posters. It was ahem illuminating to say the least.

I can really see why people change their usernames frequently on here. Its probably a good idea. There are literally people who have nothing better to do on threads than cut and paste stuff from here onto there and thrash it about with their bffs. What a huge amount of effort but seriously a bit disturbing.

Its very easy to create a false impression and I'm sure if they could create trouble for people, they would. For instance, I talked on a thread about being mixed race and was told I was the wrong mixed race (Asian/white) to understand racism, yet I've had one short sentence taken from my post and described as if it is me that is racist.

There are some posters on here who are very active on Reddit.

Unnecessary to feel that way, Hully, but that is what their experiences and impressions of the site have led them to feel.

Even the Poster who started this thread started her post acknowledging that the site was full of quiches and Queen Bees in times past, for you to then question and declare that others who agreed with that description and experienced it were feeling that way unnecessarily seems as if you are being dismissive and refusing to accept that not everyone has the same rosy view and experience of the site that you had.

I gave an example in my first post on this thread of how some threads frequently played out here in the past and I fail to see how you cannot grasp how excluding and cliquey that type of behaviour was. It was very obvious from the outside looking in.

I see some of the so-called ‘Royalty’ have come out of semi-retirement to this thread, there’s nothing like a compliment to smoke them out, is there?
