Aibu to go the gym and then work and not shower?

Aibu to go to a gym class in the morning and then straight to work without a shower?

It's that time of the month and I thought I don't fancy using the showers when on. I thought I could quickly wash under armpits or whack some deodorant on and change into clean clothes and go to my office. I'm on my own all day tomorrow. However, my sister thinks this would be disgusting. Aibu to do this? I'm not an overly sweaty person anyway and don't think I would smell.

I definitely wouldn't do this, especially if I was on, and I'm not particularly sweaty. I just couldn't bear the idea of putting clean clothes on dirty/sweaty skin!

FizzyPink · 02/10/2019 18:27

I think it being that time of the month that would be even more gross than usual. I doubt anyone would be able to tell but would you not spend all day feeling a bit grim?!

Lllot5 · 02/10/2019 18:27

No you need to shower. I take it they aren’t communal.

HomerDancing · 02/10/2019 18:28

You need to wash the sweat off your skin whether you think you smell or not , and tbh you probably will smell.

Bishbosh84 · 02/10/2019 18:28

YANBU.
I never sweat at the gym and feel comfortable not showering after if I’ve got other plans.

CandyLeBonBon · 02/10/2019 18:28
Hmm
confusedandemployed · 02/10/2019 18:28

I couldn't do this, but I'm a bit anal about showers. I could, at a push, do it after a weights workout, but a jumpy, dancy class toying? No way.

Bluntness100 · 02/10/2019 18:29

I don't think this is ok. If you're at the gym surely you sweat and if you're having your period then you need to wash. I don't understand how you could contemplate not doing so.

Extra points for identifying the random word insert.

CouscousEvaporator · 02/10/2019 18:30

What about your hair? Wouldn’t you want to wash it after getting it all sweaty?

DannyWallace · 02/10/2019 18:31

I would definitely say to shower, especially if it's high intensity. I find if I don't shower right away I keep sweating for a while afterwards (until I've completely cooled down) so a wee sink wash wouldn't really cut it.

If it's a low intensity class and you're not really sweating it should be fine.

imnotinthemood · 02/10/2019 18:36

Oh no I'd feel uncomfortable even more so that I'm on .
I suppose with dry shampoo and clean underwear it'd not be so bad but for me I'd feel too uncomfortable all day .

Bluntness100 · 02/10/2019 18:36

To be fair, I wouldn't wash my hair in the gym, it's long and I'd be there for friggen ages. I just pin it up, it's fine.

Looobyloo · 02/10/2019 18:40

I'd do have done it but I'm skanky. Wipe all over with simple wipes, dry shampoo and you're as fresh as a daisy, Well...

Babymamaroon · 02/10/2019 18:43

Why would you not want to shower out of interest? Especially when on?

But it's great to be off to the gym pre-work so ultimately, as long as you're not ponging, do what is right for you.

Def clean knicks post workout though Wink

SmallAndHumble · 02/10/2019 18:49

I do it all the time if I know I'm not gonna be around many other people and haven't sweat the much (but then again I'm one of those dreadful slatterns who doesn't hoover every
day or even every week)

Scratchyfluffface · 02/10/2019 18:59

Sorry but that's a bit gross - you don't just sweat from your armpits. Even if you don't ping of BO you may smell a bit musty by the end of the day!

Scratchyfluffface · 02/10/2019 19:00

*pong

Lockheart · 02/10/2019 19:02

It depends on how much you sweat. Everyone's different and some people will smell and some won't.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 02/10/2019 19:12

YANBU. If fewer people were obsessed with showering all the time, it would be better for the environment.

Sparklesocks · 02/10/2019 19:17

If you were going straight home afterwards I would probably think it was OK, but doing a full day’s work in the post-workout sweat is a different story. Could you just have a quick one?

NewStart571 · 02/10/2019 19:17

YANBU. I do this frequently and I definitely don’t smell.

I will go to the gym and then back to work for a few hours. My hair might be a bit mad but who cares? I’m not in a public facing role and there’s only me and one other person (who happens to be my DP in the office).

CTRL · 02/10/2019 19:19

Hold on;

You go to the gym and come in to the office straight after without even washing the sweat off your body ??

And when your on your period you don’t fancy having a shower after a sweaty gym session so throw your clothes on your smelly body and head to work ??

I’m not going to lie. I think that’s crass and disgusting honestly. Regardless of how much you sweat, it’s still good hygiene standards and I though common sense to hose yourself down afterwards Confused. You will be sweaty and the machines are dirty with other gym users sweat and bacteria.

Answer me this; when you’ve had sex, do you clean yourself off after or just pull up your underwear and head off to work ??

Sorry to be judgemental OP but NAHH

CTRL · 02/10/2019 19:21

I work in the beauty industry and I do ALOT of intimate waxing and you wouldn’t believe the amount of women who come in to get waxed after work and are FILTHY. and I’m sorry but I do mean FILTHY.

You may not realise if you smell but believe me, others can and WILL pick it up

IAmALazyArse · 02/10/2019 19:23

The moment you can smell yourself you know everyone else smelled you for HOURS😷
