Aibu to go the gym and then work and not shower?

Aibu to go to a gym class in the morning and then straight to work without a shower?

It's that time of the month and I thought I don't fancy using the showers when on. I thought I could quickly wash under armpits or whack some deodorant on and change into clean clothes and go to my office. I'm on my own all day tomorrow. However, my sister thinks this would be disgusting. Aibu to do this? I'm not an overly sweaty person anyway and don't think I would smell.

Of course you should shower. Don't be the smelly person.

Booksandwine80 · 02/10/2019 19:32

That’s a bit grim. And if you’re not sweating you’re not working hard enough Grin

BarbedBloom · 02/10/2019 19:35

I find this idea pretty disgusting. A colleague used to do this and was convinced she didn't smell. One day she was telling us all this and someone behind us piped up, yeah we all know you don't shower. Pretty mean, but it was true. I would jump in quickly, especially considering it is that time of the month as I always seem to sweat more then

Jeleste · 02/10/2019 19:37

I guess it depends what you do at the gym. I could go to work after a low intensity pilates class, because i dont sweat from it. But after a 1h run or spinning class, no way i could get away with it.

Tetrus · 02/10/2019 19:37

YABU... even more so if it's your time off monthConfused

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 02/10/2019 19:38

I can't even be bothered telling OP what to do.
It's so obvious.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/10/2019 19:38

"You may not realise if you smell but believe me, others can and WILL pick it up"

Her colleagues are not going to intimate waxing her!

PaperWhiteDaisy · 02/10/2019 19:38

You absolutely need to shower. Even more so when you’ve got your period. The sweet sickly smell of old blood mixed with sweat is revolting

Gwenhwyfar · 02/10/2019 19:42

Lots of predictable over-reactions here. Loads of people cycle or walk briskly to work and don't shower when they arrive. No big deal.

I think the main negative is that you will feel uncomfortable, but I doubt you will asphyxiate anyone else.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/10/2019 19:43

"The sweet sickly smell of old blood mixed with sweat is revolting"

What? She's presumably not going to use the same pad/tampon for a week so why the hell would she smell of 'old blood'?

Oysterbabe · 02/10/2019 19:47

Gross.
You need a shower.

CTRL · 02/10/2019 19:53

@Gwenhwyfar

The point I was making was that many women believe they are clean and fresh and they aren’t.

While the OP thinks she doesn’t smell - she may be used to it but to others that aren’t; they will smell her.

CalamityJune · 02/10/2019 19:55

I think you do need to have a quick shower at the minimum. Washing your hair isn't necessary so it needn't take more than a couple of minutes. If you can adjust the temperature and have it as cold as you can stand it will actually make getting dressed easier as you'll bring your temperature down and you won't still be producing sweat.

Aprillygirl · 02/10/2019 19:56

If you and your pong are going to be alone in the office all day it's fine.

Jinxed2 · 02/10/2019 19:57

I wouldn’t be able to do this, but then I get super sweaty. Some people don’t seem to sweat at all so if you’re one of those then crack on!

FilthyforFirth · 02/10/2019 19:57

Christ I often have multiple showers a day when on as I'm feeling so grim. To not want to shower after a gym session on top of that? Judging the hell out of you, sorry!

Userzzzzz · 02/10/2019 19:58

Sorry but i think it is grim. I’m one of those lucky people that don’t sweat much but I’d never go to work without showering and I’d feel especially horrid if I’d not showered after a workout.

Greenglassteacup · 02/10/2019 19:59

Gross. Just have a shower.

Iggly · 02/10/2019 20:02

By the time youve wiped your pits you could have stepped in the shower and washed off the sweat. You’d only save mere minutes not doing so

HoneyandSpice · 02/10/2019 20:06

If you go to the gym with the aim of losing weight or burning calories, you will sweat (I do) if I am also having my period at the same time, I'm aware of my smell.
I would shower.

MrsJBaptiste · 02/10/2019 20:09

It's your choice but there's no way I could go to the gym and not shower. I'm literally dripping with sweat after half an hour of high impact cardio. I do cool down when doing weights and abs but I definitely still need to shower!

If anything, when I have my period I feel the need to shower even more.

SalemShadow · 02/10/2019 20:19

OK I've decided to drive home (10 drive) after class and have a shower as feel more comfortable as i am on. Then I will go to work.

bobstersmum · 02/10/2019 20:23

Bloody hell that's grim.

brummiesue · 02/10/2019 20:36

Can't believe you would even consider it!! Nasty HmmHmm

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 02/10/2019 20:42

I don't get why having your period means you're comfortable going to the gym but not showering there?? Surely if it's that heavy you'll turn the showers into a scene from jaws (personal experience) it wouldn't be comfortable to go to the gym in the first place.
