My little dog often refuses to get up on to the sofa unless I lift him with my legs. He will stand on my feet and wait for me to elevate my legs and then use them as a plank to walk on to the sofa, somehow it started when he was a tiny puppy and he's got into the habit of doing it constantly now.

It's a small thing that I love, he also squeezes himself under the sofa and will pop out the bottom when I hoover. Although he's struggling to do this since he's a little chunkier now Grin

Every evening at bed time, DS lets our 4 pet rats run around his room for an hour or so. After my and DH’s dinner, I go up to help him catch them and put them in their cage. One of them will run up me to my face and nudge and paw at my mouth until I let him check for any left overs from supper. Inside my mouth. I let him do it once and now he gets quite pushy about it. He’s really a lovely cuddly little thing. One of the others is a greedy pig so quite easily trained to do tricks. He will come up to me and perform just in case I have food on me.

FenellaVelour · 28/09/2019 21:53

I’ve two British Shorthairs and they both have their quirks.

Fennel can’t meow. She tries, but all that comes out is a “Mat” sound. We keep asking her who Matt is, but as yet we don’t know. She also wags her tail when she’s happy, like a dog.

Cleo will stretch out a paw and smack us when she wants attention. She high fives for treats. Unlike Fennel, she is very talkative, with no Matt in sight.

They both come running every time I get home from work. I know it’s probably just because they want feeding, but I kid myself it’s because they love me.

My little bunny likes to sleep in my bed. I often wake up to find he has either wormed his way in so he is sleeping with his head under my hand, or if I'm on my back, I get woken up by him climbing on to my chest to go to sleep. I love him more than anything Smile

Armi · 28/09/2019 22:03

My lovely dog used to get on the sofa next to me in the evening and would put her paw on my arm and look at me with such kindness, for all the world as if she understood I’d had a bad day.

I miss her desperately. She died over a year ago and I feel like I’ll never get over it, which is ridiculous, I know.

Confrontayshunme · 28/09/2019 22:27

We adopted a rescue shorthair cat last year, and even though she isn't a kitten, she is just the cutest! When I read bedtime stories, she has to cuddle my DD's, and she can't seem to miaow. She just opens her mouth and grins while no sound comes out. It makes me laugh so hard.

I’m loving this thread, but feel sad for those who’ve lost their precious pets. Armie I’m so sorry, your girl sounded so wonderful. Not silly at all to think you’ll never get over it. But you will, just remember the happy times. Flowers

newreality1 · 29/09/2019 00:17

@Armi Not ridiculous at all to feel you will never get over it. It is really heartbreaking to lose a much loved pet. But it's lovely that you have such happy memories to share.

Lizzie523 · 29/09/2019 00:26

She hates the dark and covers her eyes everytime she sleeps like a makeshift eye mask.

She also runs around and sort of acts out her own plays. It's hilarious, my mum says of all the cats she's met she's definitely the most eccentric.

Savingforarainyday · 29/09/2019 00:29

My dog brings a sock when we get home.

Butchyrestingface · 29/09/2019 00:33

My cockatiel: the way his wee crest flattens down, his wings fan out into a beautiful ❤️ shape and he starts chittering when he sees me.

Mama’s precious princeling. 😍

Scratchyfluffface · 29/09/2019 01:09

If I ask girl cat if she is cute, she turns her head upside down and rubs it on the stairs/windowsill/whatever she is sitting on!

Boy cat wakes us up in the morning and says hello, if you aren't paying enough attention he will bend down and lick your nose or put his tongue in your ear (whichever is easier to get to!)

QOD · 29/09/2019 07:19

My little chihuahua does the bottom in the air peanut shaped body presenting her butt at you thing - cheek to the floor. She’s hilarious.
She loves me more than anything and hyperventilates with joy if I’ve been at work all day - she’ll have been with dh or dd but it’s not the same!
She sleeps in an open crate next to my side of the bed, same level as my mattress and worms ever closer

One of our cats has to carried downstairs in the morning for her breakfast. All other times of day she will happily gambol up and down, but breakfast is sacrosanct. If you don't carry her down, she sits and moos on the top step.

I take my dog running with me most days. When we finish I let her off the lead (if it's safe to) and she chucks herself into her back and wriggles around and says 'oooooh!!!!' In a silly half growl all while wagging her tail. Very funny and cute.

Love them all so much. Dreading losing them.

CheshireChat · 29/09/2019 11:26

If you shout "Cat, there's a fly/ spider" she comes running and hunts it down and eats it.

Also follows me to the toilet as I think she likes the novelty of having her litter tray in the bathroom, however she only does this to me, not DP or DS.

FrangipaniBlue · 29/09/2019 17:57

Mine likes a morning hug.

I have to kneel on the floor while he stands in front of me, one paw on each shoulder/round my neck and then he puts his head on my shoulder while I "hug" him.

FrangipaniBlue · 29/09/2019 17:58

@malificent7 my tortoise thinks I'm his mate - humps my foot and chases DH out of the room nipping at his feet Grin

CatsOnCatnip · 29/09/2019 18:31

My old cat would only let me touch her feet. Anyone else would get mauled. She also had a totally silent meow unless she was behind a closed door, then it sounded like she was loudly meowing my name. I was CONVINCED she had learnt my name.

My dog is an obsessed curtain-twitching weirdo.

meccacos2 · 30/09/2019 11:47

My cat can open sliding doors with her little fluffy paws. She used to be able to open my bedroom door at my old house by wedging herself under the door and pushing.

Now, whenever she wants to leave a room, she launches herself repeatedly at the door.

Spidey66 · 30/09/2019 11:57

My dog loves playing with bubbles. She runs around after them and bursts them with her nose. I take some up the park as she gets a great workout running round after them, and it attracts a lot of interest. Children in particular are highly amused by it and ask if they can blow bubbles for her. (I let them join in if i's OK with the accompanying adult.) We also have a bubble machine for the back yard. It's great if we need to do some housework as it's a way of getting her to amuse herself-she just comes in every so often to ''tell'' us the bubble mix needs filling up.

She is also obsessed with the washing machine and tumble dryer, ties to help opening and closing the doors and will often stand there watching it like they're TVs. She will then go mad when the buzzer goes off end cycle and tries to ''help'' unloading it.

I proper loves my dog. She's amazing.

Swedetalker · 30/09/2019 12:39

When my cat comes home he stands in the hall and yells until my dog comes to see him. At first we thought he was just announcing his presence, and the dog came to see what all the commotion was about, but if she doesn't come to see him, he searches her out, yelling until he finds her.

JaceLancs · 30/09/2019 13:03

Cat Evie nudges me with her head when she wants stroking
Cat Reuben runs down drive when he hears my car - as soon as I stop he jumps on bonnet and peers through windscreen until I get out!
