They buried their cat in our garden!!!

We rent our house and we live at one end of a five house terraced row that has a communal garden stretching from one end to the other behind the houses. The gardens havent been seperated just to make it easier to mow. At the back of the garden and going round either side is a fence with shrubbery and bushes/trees in front of it. We haven't lived here long and havent really used our part of the garden much. NDN knocked and introduced herself when we moved in and asked would we mind if her grandchildren played on our bit of garden as well when they come to visit. Of course I don't mind.

Sadly, our ndn's cat was recently run over and killed out on the road. I've just been to peg out our washing and have noticed that they've buried the cat in our garden. Not just a little bit in, but proper under the tree halfway down the edge of our garden. Complete with headstone and flowers.

I can't understand why they would do this. They have trees/bushes in their own garden they could have buried it under, and they didn't even ask!

*WIBU to dig up the deceased moggy and deposit it on her doorstep and tell her to rebury it in her garden?

*Obviously I won't but still..

Nice try @DriftingLeaves. Telling the teacher ????

Grow up.

HeronLanyon · 20/09/2019 18:12

For some reason all of the typos on this thread have been absolutely hilarious.

fancytiles · 20/09/2019 18:14

I am also pretty entertained by the typos

HeronLanyon · 20/09/2019 18:19

Possibly because when died/dead/grave/bury etc suddenly turn into something completely else its a bit of a shocker. Grin

HeronLanyon · 20/09/2019 18:20

Ahem ‘it’s’ - grammar is never funny

OpiesOldLady · 20/09/2019 21:40

Update for those interested.

I haven't been able to speak to NDN as have been out most of the day dealing with a family emergency. I have however spoken briefly to our letting agent and is going to ask LL to give me a quick call. I'm not expecting him to actually do anything, but as it's his property i think he should know.

Imagine my shock at coming home this evening to find that they have added to the shrine.

A plastic cactus. No ordinary plastic cactus though, oh no. This one GLOWS IN THE DARK

Now, I like cacti as much as the next person, in fact i could go as far as to say that I'm rather fond of the odd succulent or two.... but this... well. I'm not quite sure how to feel.

I have included a photo for your amusement.

The fella thinks it's most hilarious so I've nominated him to speak to NDN tomorrow.

They buried their cat in our garden!!!

I’m sorry but that is fucking hilarious. 😂

Laiste · 20/09/2019 21:42

That is v.funny OP. Sorry Grin

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 20/09/2019 21:43

Oh come on OP, Opie's old lady would never have made a fuss about this.

Are you sure it's a glow in the dark cactus and not a middle finger?

avamiah · 20/09/2019 21:43

Hi OP
OMG ,
Haha haha
I’m sorry but when I read your first post I was laughing out loud .

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/09/2019 21:47

Mmmm I think if you try and bring it up they’re going to get a bit prickly Wink. On a serious note that’s really taking the piss now.

dollydaydream114 · 20/09/2019 21:48

As an animal lover, I never thought I could laugh so much at the grave of a run-over cat, but I am properly in stitches at the glow-in-the-dark cactus. What the ACTUAL fuck? Grin

It'll be fairy-lights, pink teddy bears, a England flag and a card saying 'Goodnight god bless, your with the angles now little Princess, all ways in are hearts' next, you mark my words.

PerkyPomPoms · 20/09/2019 21:48

Wow

avamiah · 20/09/2019 21:50

We have 3 cats and I know that they have special places were they hang out. Haha
Only yesterday I saw one of our cats sitting on a doorstep across the road from us .haha
I stopped and told him to go home , and asked him what he was doing, lol , omg you should of seen the looks I was getting from people walking past me .
So maybe the cat loved your garden.
Cats are good luck you know .
Xx

PrimeMumister · 20/09/2019 21:51

GrinGrinGrin wonder what else they might add

fancytiles · 20/09/2019 21:53

Omg the glow in the dark cactus 😂😂😂

Missingstreetlife · 20/09/2019 22:02

If communal garden they should ask permission from all who can use it. If yours then they should ask you. They are cheeky fuckers. Landlord may approach them?

CircleofWillis · 20/09/2019 22:03

I think someone nearby is a mumsnetter and left a plant (no pun intended) to see if this is the grave in question.

Wobblywibblywoo · 20/09/2019 22:21

I wonder why a cactus 🌵 that’s very strange.

HairyDogsOfThigh · 20/09/2019 22:27

I think dolly's right, it's going to be a lovely, tasteful shrine. Do you have any nice bunting you could donate?

Pamplemousecat · 20/09/2019 22:41

@DriftingLeaves rightbackacha

RainingFrogsAndHats · 20/09/2019 23:22

dollydaydream114 · 20/09/2019 23:27

It if was that lucky it wouldn't have been run over.

fancytiles · 20/09/2019 23:50
