Crisps in the fridge

My DH has just told me that he was listening to the radio the other morning and apparently there was a debate raging on Twitter about keeping your crisps in the fridge. He said that it was about 50/50 in the end. Surely not?

Please Mumsnet, back me up here that this is a travesty.

What madness is this?

My mother used to sometimes put my packed lunch in the fridge (back in the day when you could put crisps in your kid’s packed lunch without the police being involved).

What happened? Cold and bendy crisps, that’s what.

Isleepinahedgefund · 17/09/2019 22:00

Just wrong. Crisps in the fridge will not be crispy.

What is the world coming to?!!!!!

Stravapalava · 17/09/2019 22:00

What? Of course you don't put crisps in the fridge! Why would you?

MaryShelley1818 · 17/09/2019 22:01

Wrong!!

plunkplunkfizz · 17/09/2019 22:03

Slightly cold McCoy’s are lovely

Exactly this! I just stared at him dumbfounded when he told me.

Cold crisps are actually yum

BanKittenHeels · 17/09/2019 22:13

I can’t believe you don’t!

I am outraged most days when I have visitors or go to see people because of what they do or don’t keep in the fridge. Who DOESN’T put the remote control in the fridge? Warm batteries? Jesus Christ!

So many people are out there keeping their meat in the fridge, we prefer an upturned plant pot on top of the dishwasher.

And as for the never ending ketchup debate. It should be kept in the oven, never the fridge or cupboard.

drivingtofrance · 17/09/2019 22:15

Say what??

BringTheBounceBack · 17/09/2019 22:15

Normal crisps no

But.... Pringles - absolutely I always do!!! I discovered the wonder of this in a hotel where they kept them in the drinks pay-machines.

SamBeckett · 17/09/2019 22:17

Cold crisps eww .
I like mine warm (ish ) if the sun is out I put them in the sun for 10 mins or on if it has been on in a warm but turned of oven.

SamBeckett · 17/09/2019 22:18

or even a turned off oven Blush

Shock

What insanity is this?

KronksSpinachPuffs · 17/09/2019 22:20

I've never known any actual people to do it but I've been in quite a few cafes before where theyve had crisps in the fridge with sandwiches/cakes but I assumed that was a space issue!?

64sNewName · 17/09/2019 22:20

I reeled back slightly as I read the thread title. No no no no no

Nonstopbuttmachine · 17/09/2019 22:20

I have to keep certain things in the fridge eg. Ryvita and crackers, otherwise they go soggy. Iive in a very humid country though!

Walnutwhipster · 17/09/2019 22:21

I'm sure that's one of the signs of psychopathy.

BananaBooBoo · 17/09/2019 22:24

Just NO. I said Nooooooooo!

HairyFloppins · 17/09/2019 22:25

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Hecateh · 17/09/2019 22:25

I keep my crisps in the boot of my car - summer and winter.

If they were in the house, (fridge or no) I eat far too many packets.

In the car it has to be a conscious decision to get a packet.

64sNewName · 17/09/2019 22:34

Read thread title to friend, who thinks it could be a good sequel to Snakes on a Plane. We’re casting it now

YaySeptember · 17/09/2019 22:36

My rule is that wherever a food item is kept in the supermarket, it's kept at home. Tesco's don't keep their crisps in the fridge so they're not kept in the fridge here. Neither is sauce or ketchup, for the record. And eggs: they're just out on the shelf in the supermarket so they're kept ambient here.

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 17/09/2019 22:37

Which monsters voted yabu?

bookmum08 · 17/09/2019 22:48

My husband does this when he has only eaten half the packet and he seems to be under a bizarre theory they won't go stale.
I also don't understand why he only eats half the bag. What's that all about?
