Crisps in the fridge

highheelsandbobblehats · 17/09/2019 21:57

My DH has just told me that he was listening to the radio the other morning and apparently there was a debate raging on Twitter about keeping your crisps in the fridge. He said that it was about 50/50 in the end. Surely not?

Please Mumsnet, back me up here that this is a travesty.

Anyone who eats half a bag of crisps and puts the rest back is weirder than everything in the world

Total nut-job Grin

We are crying at some of these replies. Husband is particularly taken with the sequel to Snakes on a Plane and neither of us can understand not finishing a bag.

My DB swears by keeping crisps in the fridge, particularly spicy crisps. He made me do a taste test and was most offended that I really couldn't give a hoot.

Gingerkittykat · 17/09/2019 23:16

I don't see why they would lose their crunch for the people talking about soggy crisps.

I have a bag of Walkers pickled onion, I shall place in the fridge overnight and report the findings. Is anyone else up for a brave social experiment?

highheelsandbobblehats · 17/09/2019 23:18

I have two packs of Quavers left. I shall put one in the fridge and leave one in the cupboard.

PrincessScarlett · 17/09/2019 23:19

I can confirm they are still crunchy and fresh, just cold.

TrainspottingWelsh · 17/09/2019 23:20

It might not be illegal but it’s morally and ethically wrong. Do the same people microwave pieces of fruit before eating and keep their socks in the freezer? Fucking freaks.

midlifecrash · 17/09/2019 23:22

I want these motherfuckin crisps out of this motherfuckin fridge!

Whyhaveidonethis · 17/09/2019 23:26

Say what!? Why tge fuck would you keep crisps in the fridge? Some people are fecking weird

chickenyhead · 17/09/2019 23:28

What new fuckery is this?

Before the new foil packets became standard they did indeed go limp and nasty. My senile old man used to put them in the fridge for that just licked feel.

Didn't realise that this was actually a "thing" anyone would choose to do

Crisps don't last very long in my house though.

FilthyBiscuit · 17/09/2019 23:30
Confused
NameChange84 · 17/09/2019 23:30

Fucking weirdos. This has upset me more than I thought it would. Angry

icanhearapindrop · 17/09/2019 23:33

I have sometimes left a packet of salt and vinegar crisps in the blazing sunshine as I think it intensifies the flavour. But cold crisps?? No way!! That is bizarre.

TateWorm · 17/09/2019 23:40

I blame Kettle Chips. Their truffled cheese and champagne crisps do sound like things that would normally be in the fridge. Just a shame they taste like feet and should never be in anyone's house ever, fridge or not.

Who are these heathens with their fridge dwelling crisps? Hmm

I've never put crisps in the fridge but microwaved apple with cinammon is lovely and this Summer I kept vests in the freezer.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 18/09/2019 00:24

Perverts.

Hairsprayqueeen · 18/09/2019 00:25

Love cold crisps.

WhatWhyWhen · 18/09/2019 00:26

No, and on a purely practical note don’t keep potatoes in the fridge (not sure processed as crips these rules apply but it affects the sugar levels and increases the amount of acylamide which is a carcinogen.

^^ boring post sorry as you were.

highheelsandbobblehats · 18/09/2019 06:04

I've heard that you shouldn't keep chocolate or tomatoes in the fridge for similar reasons. It changes the chemical compound.

Never keep my crisps in the fridge apart from when I put my lunch in the fridge at work! My crisps never go soggy!

SamBeckett · 18/09/2019 07:39

@icanhearapindrop
I am glad I am not the only one that likes slightly warm crisps.
