From back in Decemeber:

'This shouldn’t get lost in the avalanche of crazy. The wall we need is between DOJ and the White House. The foundation of our democracy- the rule of law- depends on it.' Sally Q. Yates.

Don't apologise Claws. I am now beginning to wonder if finally... finally.... the damn has burst. Twitter is alight that this is so. I just think there is no going back from this, even if the Senate blocks impeachment. Depends who turns on Trump, KellyAnne Conway has been mooted as one who is/has been

Access is needed to that secret server, I think that will blow everything apart with its contents.

Pompeo has been subpoenaed.

'The letter says the subpoena was issued because Mr Pompeo had failed to comply with the demand to provide requested documents.

"Your continued refusal to provide the requested documents not only prevents our committees from fully investigating these matters, but impairs Congress' ability to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities to protect our national security and the integrity of our democracy," the letter said.

The three committees also informed Mr Pompeo that they planned to request testimonies from five officials, including Mr Volker and the former US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, in the next two weeks.

Mr Pompeo has so far made no public comments on the subpoena.'

Here’s hoping.

Nancy Pelosi: An Extremely Stable Genius

When asked if it was possible that impeachment might backfire, the Speaker of the House insisted that politics has nothing to do with it. “It doesn’t matter,” she said. “He has given us no choice.”

Not stopping the Trumps from fundraising from the little, stupid people - and to judge from the post’s comments, plenty are actually donating 😳

No apologies needed Claws.

I post a lot on here (mainly links) partly because I feel I need to do something and knowledge is power and all that but also because this thing has so many different tentacles.

I assume people will pick and choose which strands to follow because lord knows it's hard to keep track of everything.

I certainly learn from other posts on here.

But today I am 'curating' more hopefully than before. Smile

Dipping in to update myself. Looks like I picked a bad time to go on a' media blacked-out' holiday!

Thanks all for the links.

Hope the holiday is a good 'un Across.

Off grid sounds rather appealing in so many ways.

I do love the fact that Trump told the president of Ukraine (on air) that he knew lots of Ukranians because of the Miss World beauty pageant, and that Miss Ukraine won that so of course he knew about Ukraine.

A quick wikisearch shows that Miss Ukraine has never become Miss World, and that the one time the Miss World pageant was due to be held in Ukraine, in 2008, it was moved because Russia was having a diplomatic crisis with Georgia and it might not have been safe.

it seems as if he just can't help telling pointless, futile and easily-checked lies. Lies which the person he is telling them to absolutely has to know are untrue, quite apart from any other audience he might have.

A closer look at what happens if Trump is impeached and throws Pence under the bus for good measure. Yes, it will make Trump right in that Pelosi is no longer Leader of the House. WinkGrin

I wish I'd been able to see Pence's face when he watched that.

The message must now be: Cough up what you’ve been hiding, or we’ll act on the conclusion that you’ve got something to hide, will draw the right negative inferences, and will treat your stonewalling as an impeachable offense in itself. No more games.

1/ Last night, the WaPo reported Rudy Giuliani was slated to make a paid appearance at a Kremlin-backed conference. He canceled after the story.

But we remembered: He ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE LAST YEAR.

WE HAVE TAPE.

2/ Giuliani went to the conference at the invitation of a Russian-allied businessman who literally rebuilt the Kremlin. (Putin gave the guy an award for it.)

Giuliani was billed to be on a panel with two advisers to Putin, including one on the U.S.’s sanctions list.

Barr is just discovering that if you lay down with dogs ... (or something like that) ...

apnews.com/7d134da3dadd497e9af37c60278d68dc

'WASHINGTON (AP) — As Washington plunges into impeachment, Attorney General William Barr finds himself engulfed in the political firestorm, facing questions about his role in President Donald Trump’s outreach to Ukraine and the administration’s attempts to keep a whistleblower complaint from Congress.

Trump repeatedly told Ukraine’s president in a telephone call that Barr and Trump personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani could help investigate Trump’s Democratic rival Joe Biden, according to a rough transcript of that summertime conversation. Justice Department officials insist Barr was unaware of Trump’s comments at the time of the July 25 call.

When Barr did learn of that call a few weeks later, he was “surprised and angry” to discover he had been lumped in with Giuliani, a person familiar with Barr’s thinking told The Associated Press. This person was not authorized to speak about the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Giuliani, a former New York City mayor, often appears in rambling television interviews as a vocal defender of the president. Giuliani represents Trump’s personal interests and holds no position in the U.S. government, raising questions about why he would be conducting outreach to Ukrainian officials.'

Indeed. Thanks lion.

TheClaws · 29/09/2019 01:46

Speaking of Rudy, he’s concerned about everyone being treated “equally”. As far as I’m concerned, the gilt-coated Trumps have gotten away with near about everything, and this is led as to the problem we have today - a Trump who can’t concede he has done anything wrong.

Rudy Giuliani @RudyGiuliani

Equal justice under law is at stake in this Witchunt. Is there anyone who believes if you changed the family name from Biden to Trump there would be this 4 year cover-up?Until the media and law enforcement demonstrate equal treatment, division and anger will prevail.

Oh my gosh, he’s rage tweeting, and re-tweeting, and tweeting again ... he’s tweeting nonsense like ‘RNC Research’ (Republicans’ ‘Research’ arm - but really more like propaganda), frantic attempts to discredit the whistleblower/Schiff, and the usual boot-licker retweets.

Backtracking so hard he must have whiplash.

Amodei denies he was first House Republican to back impeachment inquiry
www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/09/28/amodei-denies-he-was-first-house-republican-back-impeachment-inquiry/

A Republican congressman supports an “oversight process" to determine whether President Trump broke the law when he asked a foreign leader to look into a political opponent’s activities.
Just don’t call it an impeachment inquiry.
Rep. Mark Amodei of Nevada used language during a phone call with reporters on Friday night that suggested he supported the Democrats’ investigation into Trump.
“Let’s put it through the process and see what happens,” Amodei said, according to the Nevada Independent. "I’m a big fan of oversight, so let’s let the committees get to work and see where it goes.”
“Using government agencies to, if it’s proven, to put your finger on the scale of an election, I don’t think that’s right,” he added. “If it turns out that it’s something along those lines, then there’s a problem.”
But after news outlets began reporting that Amodei was the first House Republican to side with Democrats on opening an impeachment inquiry, Amodei and his staff pushed back — hard. Sure, they argued, the congressman wanted to find out what occurred between Trump and the Ukrainian president. But that’s not the same as wanting the House to begin impeachment proceedings.
