Especially an office with a tiny window and the whole foot print is probably 15ft by 10ft

If it was smoked mackeral or something I'd agree, chilli is pretty standard.

CassianAndor · 16/09/2019 19:13

this wouldn’t bother me.

If it was a banana, however, I’d be going postal.

PawPawNoodle · 16/09/2019 19:13

I'd rather the room be half-filled with chili than be subjected to microwaved fish or eggs.

Hederex · 16/09/2019 19:13

No issue with chilli here, latest fad at my work is tinned oily fish

84claire84 · 16/09/2019 19:13

None issue

AussieBeauty · 16/09/2019 19:14

Chilli is fine to eat in the office. It's not particularly strong smelling.

pigeononthegate · 16/09/2019 19:14

IS chilli particularly offensive?! All food has some odour, surely. If your colleague were munching on pilchards, eggs and pickled onions you might have a point.

Saddler · 16/09/2019 19:15

Don't really see an issue

Holdingmynerve · 16/09/2019 19:16

What kind of chilli are you guys cooking that doesn't stink?!

Banana girl you can sit with me, because my two other colleagues both eat one on mid morning break and then chuck their banana skins in the only bin next to my desk Hmm

Meh, as long as it's not fish (or anything fishy/seafoody) I don't care much tbh.

BarbariansMum · 16/09/2019 19:19

Food with taste tends to have an odour. Or are we all supposed to restrict ourselves to bland crap during office hours?

AussieBeauty · 16/09/2019 19:21

I'd rather have nice chilli than a boring sandwich or salad in the office. I don't think it smells that bad at all.

SallyWD · 16/09/2019 19:21

Chilli is fine. It would probably just make me feel hungry.

GinTonic123 · 16/09/2019 19:21

YANBU - Chilli would smell too much. I don’t really want to be sitting in the office with that wafting up my nose...and the smell gets worse as it cools down. I have to admit to being a bit against eating warmed up food at a desk in an open office at least. There is always a smell.

Baguetteaboutit · 16/09/2019 19:21

It's not particularly pungent. I can't see your problem really. Are you one of these MN blood hounds who claim to be able to smell what people had for dinner the night before?

Holdingmynerve · 16/09/2019 19:21

Not at all. But you could eat it in the canteen where food smells are supposed to live!

Holdingmynerve · 16/09/2019 19:22

Yesterdays warmed up chilli, eaten over the course of an hour whilst working and on the phone.

Not ok guys

Unless it was sardine chilli. YABU.

misspiggy19 · 16/09/2019 19:23

No issue in our office either.

^This

LayLar360 · 16/09/2019 19:24

Zero issue with this. Not a strong or unpleasant odor (and I don't like chilli).

sanityisamyth · 16/09/2019 19:25

Chilli would make me feel very ill as I'm allergic to tomatoes. It has to be consumed for me to actually be ill, but the smell would turn my stomach and I'd have to leave.

YANBU.

TheGlaikitRambler · 16/09/2019 19:25

Never had a stinky chilli! Shock

My coworkers often bring in homemade chilli/spag bol/casserole to reheat and it always smells tasty.

Bouffalant · 16/09/2019 19:25

People eat fry ups at their desks in my office. It's an everyday thing.

HRH2020 · 16/09/2019 19:25

I got told off for eating chilli in the office my colleague said it smelled like BO.

(It was just normal supermarket chilli)
