Especially an office with a tiny window and the whole foot print is probably 15ft by 10ft

I aways eat my leftovers cold so they don't make too much of a smell in the office.

Apart from soup which I very very rarely eat anyway, I am happy to eat just about any leftovers cold. In fact I always think it improves the flavour.

Sorry not.muxh help to the op but I generally think chilli doesn't smell too strongly anyway. As for complaining about the smell of a banana. ConfusedShock

There have been at least 2 or 3 in every office I've ever worked in (not about my food btw, I don't bring it in), so at least 20

Out of a population of 67 million? Yeah, must be a British thing then.

Oh no, I eat bananas at my desk, and have a mackerel and egg salad for lunch most days at work. Do you think my colleagues secretly hate me? It never occurred to me that these were no nos!

Fish can really stink if heated up in the microwave. I think anything else is fine.

I find colleagues who whine about food smells much more irritating than the smell itself. Grow up and get on with your work.

Well I've never noticed at all in the 7-8 non-British offices I've worked in. And I have comments from pretty much all my friends along the same lines.

There's no need to get offended.

Not offended at all, just think it’s weird that you would assign a particular attribute to a whole nation based on your experience or up to 20 people.
Here’s my anecdote based on having worked in offices in England, Spain, Italy and France. I met one person who would exclaim loudly and dramatically about food smells in the office. She was Spanish, working in Madrid. So in my experience it is a solely Spanish thing.
