Bless tizzybell so naive Smile

VladmirsPoutine · 18/09/2019 12:50

You’re not seen as more tolerant. You’re seen as naive. You’re giving up rights you don’t even understand.

@NotBadConsidering Grin I was about to write out another essay but this succinctly explains the sentiment I was aiming for!

jellyfrizz · 18/09/2019 12:52

Thank your lucky stars you feel comfortable with the gender you were given.

Most women certainly aren't comfortable with what is assumed of them just because they were born female.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 18/09/2019 12:53

Ree Ree Ree CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!

Where was that tizzy dearest? I’m so dense and stupid?

tizzybell · 18/09/2019 12:54

What rights are we giving up???

We don't care how we are seen but FYI your generation are seen as the generation that had everything and still managed to fuck it all up! Also, racist, sexist, homophobic... could go on.

I will speak out for minorities' rights til I die, and I'm not going to stop just because Gary, 51 from Berkshire says I'm naive

@jellyfrizz that is true

NotBadConsidering · 18/09/2019 12:55

OH men in dresses????? You poor thing how did you COPE?! I never said that makes them a woman... they may simply enjoy wearing clothes normally designed for women

Does the second part of this refer to the men in dresses in the first part, or Sam Smith? I can’t tell, because you used they.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 18/09/2019 12:55

I will speak out for minorities' rights til I die

How is Sam Smith a minority? I mean, loads of people can sing badly, it's not a specialist niche.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/09/2019 12:55

Well there is only one of him.

tizzybell · 18/09/2019 12:57

@NotBadConsidering you haven't answered me, what rights am I giving up?

@thealternativetentacle he is a member of the LGBT community, a minority group. Therefore...

NotBadConsidering · 18/09/2019 12:58

Ok tizzybell, I insist you refer to other on here as “wise and superior Mumsnetters” every time from now on. It’s our chosen pronoun. You have no issue with being compelled to refer to people how they want do you? If you don’t refer to us by our preferred pronoun that’s literal violence. It doesn’t cost you anything to refer to us like that does it?

birdsdestiny · 18/09/2019 13:00

Ooh look at tizzy speaking up for minorities, most of the women on this thread have done that their whole lives, but Tizzy does it better.

tizzybell · 18/09/2019 13:00

@notbadconsidering still waiting for an answer....

Also the following are examples of pronouns:

I
You
He/She
We
You (p)
They

Anything else does not qualify so I dunno what to tell you

tizzybell · 18/09/2019 13:01

@birdsdestiny when did i I say that?

Lol congrats to all the other women you're doing great!!

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/09/2019 13:01

Well, the Queen does use ‘we’. Didn’t Margaret Thatcher also use ‘we’?

tizzybell · 18/09/2019 13:02

I can't believe I said I speak up for minorities and someone found a way to spin that negatively!!! hahahahaah you're all bizzare I love it

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD

not sure but surely that works in favour of sam using 'they'?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/09/2019 13:03

Is he the queen?

NotBadConsidering · 18/09/2019 13:04

It doesn’t matter what qualifies. You must talk about us the way I say. I don’t care what you define as a pronoun because I’m changing it. You must talk about me and others here as I say. You must always address me as “Wise and Superior Mumsnetter” and when you talk about others instead of saying “they” you have to say “Wise and Superior Mumsnetters”.

I’m demonstrating a right you want us you give up. You’re happy for others to compel you to talk how they want, not how you want.

And you haven’t answered about whom you were referring in that paragraph. Your use of “they” means I can’t tell.

VladmirsPoutine · 18/09/2019 13:04

Here we go: ONE LAST TIME FOR THOSE AT THE BACK!

@tizzybell I'm very happy that it doesn't impact your life. You're one of the lucky women whose lives won't be impacted. Count yourself lucky!

The women who will be impacted are those, for example, who flee their abusive/violent husbands and end up in a refuge seeking peace and comfort away from men. Those women will be eventually compelled to share their spaces with a man who calls himself John, or sometimes Jane (depending on his mood), but as he identifies as female then that vulnerable woman will just have to accept it. I can imagine her sitting there terrified that a man can absolutely just decide because he likes dresses and as gender is just a 'social construct' he can be a woman. Therefore womanhood means nothing.

You are actually setting us back years. Your attitude far from being progressive is actually regressive. If Sam feels like a woman because he sometimes likes to wear a dress and doesn't like his figure then can you not see how regressive the whole thing is? How is it that Sam can 'feel' like a woman yet no biological woman can explain what it feels like because we just ARE. Again it's a man placing women as second class citizens but this time even in our own sex!

Why escape gender stereotypes in efforts to just reinforce them? The whole thing is a logical fallacy. Think about it!

NotBadConsidering · 18/09/2019 13:05

I can't believe I said I speak up for minorities and someone found a way to spin that negatively!!! hahahahaah Wise and Superior Mumsnetters are all bizzare I love it

Fixed it for you. Please respect our pronouns.
