So if you're in Scotland you will know what a munchy box is. Basically it's a pizza box from the chippy, Indian or Chinese filled with a variety of stuff. DH is out tonight, im throwing a mild strop about food we have in the house and so I was browsing the local Just Eat to see what I might order. One oif the local chippy/Indians do a 'Single Mum Munchy Box'
Why do they think this is specifically for single mums? The chocolate?
It's a bit bat shit right?

Have added a screen shot !

I have never heard of Munchy boxes , I am not sure about the pizza crunch but the rest BRING IT ON ! , I am not a single parent tho , please can I still have one ?
The name is a bit odd but it doesn't worry me enough not to want to order one but I can not find anywhere near me ( nothwest england ) that does anything like them Sad
Anyone that likes pakora and is feeling adventurous buy yourself a packet of Laziza Pakora mix , mix with water ( about half , 3 quarts of a pint ) and dip and deep fry what ever you fancy .

@Graphista and @gavisconismyfriend

You both forgot that queen of Scottish treats the Empire Biscuit. Shame on you.

Evilspiritgin · 15/09/2019 14:15

I’ve just found out that a chippy near me does deep fried haggis. In my town one of those boxes would cost you at least £30

user1471449295 · 15/09/2019 14:23

That’s a disgusting amount of foor

I can't get over that all that food is only a tenner?!

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 14:43

Haha ya know what. Until this thread it would never have occurred to me how cheap it is

My teen is currently packing his bags to move to Scotland. If any Scottish NNetters would like to adopt him, I’ll send £70 a week to keep him in munch boxes Grin

gavisconismyfriend · 15/09/2019 15:11

@Cannotresist

You are so right. Head duly hanging in shame! Blush
Was just thinking about Empire Biscuits this morning too (wondering if I could make Christmas tree shaped ones for the Christmas Fayre!)

Sagradafamiliar · 15/09/2019 15:20

Despite finding the idea quite revolting and the contents sounding like pure filth (and having put weight on just reading it), I've just scoured Justeat looking for a box near me and there aren't any! So disappointed.

dudsville · 15/09/2019 15:24

Who IRA drinking 2l of irn bru!

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 15:35

@dudsville IRA? 😁

@dudsville
You might be surprised. When we lived in Glasgow we needed some work done on the house and had various tradespersons in the house all day. It was perfectly standard for a couple of them to turn up with a 2L bottle of IrnBru and a sandwich as their fuel for the day.

ZenNudist · 15/09/2019 15:42

Cheap and nasty

maddiemookins16mum · 15/09/2019 15:45

Haggis fritters...this alone is why I love Scotland.

YouJustDoYou · 15/09/2019 15:47

op, I hate you - my mouth is now watering. Munchyboxes??!! I never knew about this??! I want 5.

NationMcKinley · 15/09/2019 16:01

That cheesy munch box has given me gallstones just reading about it.

That said I’m off to google SE munchboxes as they sound bloody amazing. Bet I only find tuna and quinoa bento boxes

Dieu · 15/09/2019 16:26

This is definitely a Glasgow thing. I've never seen them here in Edinburgh Grin

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 16:59

Sorry @YouJustDoYou Grin

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 16:59

@Dieu that are definitely in Edinburgh too

Any enterprising mumsnetters fancy bringing the joys of the munchy box to the SE of England? You could make a packet!

Purpleartichoke · 15/09/2019 17:11

When I’m coming off a migraine, I need protein, fat, and some sugar. Those boxes look like post migraine heaven. .

lemonsandlimes123 · 15/09/2019 17:16

I think this is the chavviest thing I have ever seen! Yes, yes I know some people don't like that word but I can't think of a more apt one in this circumstance.

That food both singly and in combination sounds absolutely rancid. I am not a pearly clutcher by nature but if people genuinely think this sounds amazing then no wonder this country has so many fat people!

GooodMythicalMorning · 15/09/2019 17:19

I live in Dorset, I've never seen these about so far but maybe I've just not noticed!

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 17:23

Lemons bloody chavvy poor people and their fried food. Cunts the lot of em!
