So if you're in Scotland you will know what a munchy box is. Basically it's a pizza box from the chippy, Indian or Chinese filled with a variety of stuff. DH is out tonight, im throwing a mild strop about food we have in the house and so I was browsing the local Just Eat to see what I might order. One oif the local chippy/Indians do a 'Single Mum Munchy Box'
Why do they think this is specifically for single mums? The chocolate?
It's a bit bat shit right?

Have added a screen shot !

What fresh hell is deep fried pizza Shock
Sounds well grim and I love pizza! Grin
Oh and pffft to people saying that's too much food for one person - it's balls like that that make me want to say "watch me" or "hold my beer" lol
Why have I never heard of munchy boxes either?! Don't have them here and they sound brill

AtillatheHun · 15/09/2019 17:31

I didn’t know about munch boxes, but it explains the giant pizza box takeaway breakfasts that I see on rate my plate. I wish I knew where they come from.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/09/2019 17:35

"I think this is the chavviest thing I have ever seen! Yes, yes I know some people don't like that word but I can't think of a more apt one in this circumstance.

That food both singly and in combination sounds absolutely rancid. I am not a pearly clutcher by nature but if people genuinely think this sounds amazing then no wonder this country has so many fat people!"

Oh cheer up ffs.

Cannotresist · 15/09/2019 17:37

For all the deep fried pizza knockers in reality it’s just slightly altered fried bread

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 15/09/2019 17:41

Unclench lemonsandlimes you don't have to eat it. Leave it to the chavs.

lemonsandlimes123 · 15/09/2019 17:50

It just seems like it would all taste the same! And then have some weird grey doner meat draped over the top! But then again I can't understand how people can go to have carvery and have three different types of meat, ie lamb, pork and chicken on the same plate! Or buffets where people put salad, and roast meat and sushi all on one plate!

WineOclock2019 · 15/09/2019 17:59

Local to us are mainly Breakfast or Chinese (Salt and Pepper) Munch Boxes.
Would love the local Indian to do a similar style box.
I love the local breakfast place Family Box though, and brilliant price for £10 especially with oatcakes Grin
Hopefully pictures attach of standard breakfast for example as haven't a photo of Family Box... really wish I'd ordered one now today.

Lemons yeah that's fine. But there's a massive difference between not understanding how people could like some thing and calling people chavs.

One is pure difference in opinion of taste and ones just, well, crass.

For the record, I didn't call anyone a chav, I said the boxes were chavvy, which they are! I like a kebab as much as anyone but there's no point pretending that it's some sort of middle/upper class culinary favourite! In the same way that houmous and quinoa is seen as achingly middle class even though we all know that people from all social groups enjoy all sorts of food! It's simply a stereotype, but that's not to say it isn't accurate!

Rtruth · 15/09/2019 18:10

Does it matter?
If your offended don’t buy it. But why get offended? In terms of things to worry about is the branding a company has choosen really that much of an issue.
Maybe it’s cheap way to feed the kids. Maybe the single mums they serve like this. Who knows? Who cares?

I’m all for right to be offended but where have the days gone that people just shrug their shoulders and go “I don’t like that so I’ll move on”?

Frazzledstar1 · 15/09/2019 18:10

It’s a bit weird but i find it more disturbing that they think one person is going to drink 2litres if irn bru themselves Grin

Marcipex · 15/09/2019 18:19

The list made me feel sick tbh and I am quite greedy.

LaMainDeFatima · 15/09/2019 18:19

That's one hungry single mum

GooodMythicalMorning · 15/09/2019 18:25

Ive never had irn bru but I could definitely do 2 litres of cola, my bladder wouldn't thank me for it though!

NabooThatsWho · 15/09/2019 18:25

I’m in NI and we have munchy boxes, usually from chippys or Chinese’s. They’re great!

Never heard of a single mum one though, it’s only a matter of time (I hopeWink).

sparklefarts · 15/09/2019 18:26

Rtruth I'm not offended... I said it's weird. All Munchy boxes I've seen are like this :

Regular
Large
Extra large (I can only imagine the amount of food in this one)
Cheesy
Salt and chilli

But feel free to shrug and ignore if my finding it weird offends you 😊

I do think it's a seriously weird way to name it. But if you'd read the thread you'd see I'm hardly weeping or ranting about it

I need to try haggis fritters

Whatsforu · 15/09/2019 18:35

The name of it is a bit odd I'll give you that. The amount of food is gross that's enough to feed a family of 4!!!

Carpedimum · 15/09/2019 18:44

WTAF. This is horrible on so many levels: they might as well have called it ‘sad bitch box’; there is so little good nutritional value in that ‘food’; does it come with a side of insulin?

GooodMythicalMorning · 15/09/2019 18:51

As long as you're having it not very often, aa a one off or night off does it really matter if its not great for you. Nobody is eating it every day. (I hope)

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 15/09/2019 18:54

"Sad bitch box"

Right up your street then?

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 15/09/2019 18:55

I think this is the chavviest thing I have ever seen!

Oop look smart girls, the Class Police have arrived.

Grenich · 15/09/2019 19:06

I want haggis fritters

CorBlimeyGovenor · 15/09/2019 19:24

That honestly sounds so revolting! Even the name 'Munchy Box' is bad.
