Aibu to think that they only cater for slim people.

I find that they vary, but do tend to be at least one size down when compared to other high street stores.

So most stuff is a maximum of a non vanity sized 14.

ThePallidBustOfPallas · 13/09/2019 22:31

I think they go up to size 20 don't they? Which in reality is more like a smallish 18.
They used to do a plus size range many years ago but stopped. I suppose they can't be everything to everyone.

WaggingKnife · 13/09/2019 22:31

They’ve just changed all of their sizing to include larger sizes.

Coco89 · 13/09/2019 22:33

The sizes are ridiculous! I tried a size 12 pair of shorts far too tite! So I just buy the 14 far too big! It would make life easier if sizing was the same everywhere!

Clappingforjoy · 13/09/2019 22:40

They supposedly go up to 20 but trying to find that size is difficult

OP posts:
PumpkinP · 13/09/2019 22:40

I actually find there clothes come up big

PawPawNoodle · 13/09/2019 22:41

I'm a regular size 20 and have plenty of stuff from there, albeit I shop very carefully and try things on. If I'm being honest it's mostly things that are meant to be oversized so fit me normally, or items with stretch. Plus a coat that I will wear until it disintegrates off my body.

Saying that, their most stretchy jean is too big for me!

PumpkinP · 13/09/2019 22:42

They have loads of size 20s where I am I find 16/18 more of a struggle to find

19lottie82 · 13/09/2019 22:43

The sizes vary wildly.

I’m a 16 and have tried on trousers in an 18 that I can’t get past my knees, and then a shirt in a 14 that drowns me.

dollydaydream114 · 13/09/2019 22:43

They go up to a 20.

Their sizing is very inconsistent, in the sense that you can try on three things in the same size and one will be OK, one will tiny and one will be massive, but I think you'd expect that given their rock-bottom prices. I wouldn't say they only cater for the slim at all.

francienolan · 13/09/2019 23:10

I'm glad to hear others think their sizing doesn't correspond well to other shops. I've lost a lot of weight this year and am down 2 sizes from a year ago in all other shops, but have to wear my old size at Primark. I had only bought vest tops and oversized jumpers from them before so didn't realise it ran weirdly as they were alpha sizing.

circleorsquare · 13/09/2019 23:20

Very inconsistent, I recently tried a size 8 top which was huge and a 12 that was tiny! Only shop when I can try things on

lifeinthedeep · 13/09/2019 23:39

I find Primark size 8 is actually more a 10/12 half the time! I think H&M is the worst. Their size 12 is more like an 8 and their 6 below a 4...don’t get me started on the fact H&M do a size 4 that’s more like age 4 🙄

Walnutwhipster · 13/09/2019 23:41

I think they come up quite big but many other shops are ridiculously big.

LolaSmiles · 13/09/2019 23:43

They've just made all their sizes bigger and adjusted them.

I think their sizing is very inconsistent. I've been an 8-10 on the high street for years (despite getting bigger and heavier in the last 10 years but vanity sizing is a touchy subject on here). I'm under no illusions that I'm bigger than I was.

In Primark since their sizing review I now own some size 4-6 jumpers, a size XXS skirt but take a size 10 in the strap tops and a size 10-12 in the pyjamas.

But then again I like H&M, where again I've apparently remained a size 8-10 despite getting bigger in the last 10 years, and that's also a shop everyone loves to slate for tailoring items more for smaller frames.

AlliKaneErikson · 13/09/2019 23:55

2xl, size 4 and size 6 don’t fit my very average sized 9 year old in Primark (she likes the Disney nighties/pyjamas etc)!

Dancinghorses36 · 14/09/2019 00:09

Im a size 6uk and have to go to a 12uk in jeans, they have definitely changed something, my daughter is the same

CalmdownJanet · 14/09/2019 00:23

I am a 12 everywhere on jeans, new look, Dorothy Perkins, Next, but I can't get a14 past my knees in Penney's. I have been a 16 in Penney's for years, lost 3 stone but nope a 14 won't go past my knees Hmm

SeaSaltandLime · 14/09/2019 00:30

I find that primark comes up massive on me. Can't even buy jeans there anymore because they're all baggy.

They've changed something and it's made shopping there a PITA.

Femodene · 14/09/2019 00:34

I bought bottoms there for the first time in about 6 years, didn’t try them on because they were stretchy and my size, got home and I have to use my full strength to haul the fucking things onto my body and getting them off is even worse. Absolutely shite, would never buy bottoms from them again, I may as well have put my money straight into the bin.

dontgobaconmyheart · 14/09/2019 02:04

I don't know OP, I find the 'new' sizing a real pain. I'm a UK 6-8 and a lot of their stuff is cut too big since their sizing update, I find. I need the 2xs size which feels odd. They never seem cut anything for those with a moderate to large bust either so I can't buy dresses.

Jupiters · 14/09/2019 02:43

I find them a real mixed bag. I bought some jeans from there the other day in my usual size which I couldn't get even over my knees. But I also bought a top there recently 2 sizes smaller than my usual and it fitted. There seems to be no consistency!

LellyMcKelly · 14/09/2019 02:49

I find the sizing completely made up. I’m a 16 and have (and wear) clothes from Primark that range from size 10 to size 20 and they all fit. I ignore the sizing and take two or three sizes each of whatever I like into the fitting room.

SweetMarmalade · 14/09/2019 02:50

Yep! Ds fits into the men’s t shirts and he’s 13!

cstaff · 14/09/2019 02:51

I bought 3 different tops there last year, one small, one medium and one large. Their sizes are crazy.
