Erm anyone had any “work done” to their face?

Curious. I developed some bone loss and have jowls... thinking of having a lower facelift and my crinkly eyelids having something down to them. I’m also a keen runner that has knackered my face.

Please no personal opinions on facelifts just asking if anyone has had any tweaks.

Currently I’m all natural and haggard.

Right I’m getting a face bra- do you think fellow members at park run will notice?

Crazy peppermint I actually have a malocclusion but I was told too mild for surgery, very interesting that you commented. So my face has a few issues lol. I think I have what they call a class 3 jaw. I don’t know if I’m just too old for that to be fixed now.

Anyf (interesting name 😂) yeah well you see my face jiggles, my bum jiggles, my upper arms jiggle a bit and if I’ve had a few bad days so does my tum. I win.

Rufus I want to know everything. Can I ask how old you were when you had it done? Did anyone comment on your appearance did they all notice changes? When did you have it done? Who did you have it done by? How long did it take to recover? Were you pleased with the results?

I know I’m vain but my grandmother had really sagging jowls I loved her and adored her but I’ve inherited her face. I’m only at the beginnings at the moment but even as a child thought if that happens to me I’ll do something about it! It’s totally for me, my husband doesn’t care.

Dontcall me - did people recognise you after surgery? Can I ask how old you were when you had it done? Are you happy with the result?

I have done fragile thin skin which I’ve protected from the sun but it’s not tough, it’s translucent (so you can see all those lovely veins 😀) so not sure how resistant my skin will be to surgery.

My eyelids are quite heavy and crinkly interestingly it feels comfortable when I pull my eyes up! I often get headaches because I naturally have a surprised look to see properly.

I can understand if anyone doesn’t want to share. But are there any genuine before and after photos by their surgeons?

change

I had it done in January because i was unhappy with my neck and the surgeon said i could have lipo...which I couldn’t see working, or a full facelift....which he said i didnt need, or a lower facelift

So i was 49, a surgeon in a Spire hospital did it for me. The recovery took a while the swelling was immense and i was bruised and swollen for a few months. But only people very very close to me could tell that i was swollen after a few weeks

My neck looks much better and my slight jowls have been tightened as well. So yeah job done 😀

BUT for some reason it didnt heal properly on one side and they thought it might have been infected. All turned out fine in the end although the thought of a pn infection was very scary

Hmm so glad it turned out ok reindeer,. You’re name was too long for me to remember (Brain needs some help too these days). I supppose surgery is surgery not to be taken lightly.

I have an friend who looks amazing. It was only when I was standing really close I notice to red lines in front of her ears, I had never noticed before. You absolutely can’t tell otherwise, just everyone always comments at how young she looks. I don’t know why these celebs end up looking so ridiculous.

I am also wondering whether something fluke profhilo or something temporary may be a start. I had restylane vital gives a bit of a glow (my skin is also very dry - making myself sound so attractive here). With surgery I don’t know even where to start looking, we do have a spire hospital close by though... thanks again for sharing though, so glad it’s worked out well for you .

I wouldn’t want to look massively different , I think kids would be offended!

.Would love to see results but all the websites look like perfect cases. I don’t even know where to start with these things.

That's what I noticed too. I had a thread a while back asking about upper lid blepharoplasty, because I have crinkly eyelids too, but am quite young so don't know if it's bad genes or whatever. I looked for results online, and they looked really good, only when I dug deeper I realised that the patients had also had brow lifts, botox and laser treatment on the skin so it wasn't the kind of result I could expect just from the one procedure.

Have you looked on the RealSelf website? They're usually quite honest. I saw one not long ago of a woman who'd had a lower face lift and she was unhappy with how distorted her eyes looked now, so they're not all "good" cases on there, they're quite honest and detail their experiences and how it all went. Might be worth a try :)

newtothis1234 · 14/09/2019 10:47

I also want this done, interesting to read these replies. How much did people pay for the lower facelift?

Span1elsRock · 14/09/2019 10:48

Don't do it.

It doesn't make you look younger, it just looks like you've had work done.

Drink loads of water, eat well and get a good nights sleep. Far cheaper and more effective.

PennyNotSoWise · 14/09/2019 10:49

^Shit, just to say I didn't put that bit about the distorted eyes to put you off or anything, just to say the site will give the good and the bad, rather than biased good pictures from Google.

lastminutelarry · 14/09/2019 10:50

ProfHilo although it's a filler is more of a skin tonic but it does have some lifting. If does have some really good results. Fillers these days are more natural looking and go to a good dr/practitioner who is fully trained in the latest procedures and none of them these days do the fake look.

lastminutelarry · 14/09/2019 10:50

I would also recommend regular micro-needling. It's a fab non invasive treatment.

Dontsayyouloveme · 14/09/2019 10:57

I get Botox, cheek fillers and tear troughs done. I’m currently saving for upper eyelid blepharoplasty. Ive been looking into how to lift jowls and have considered lower facelift but then I read about Ultraformer3 skin tightening. My jowls aren’t bad but I can see them developing and want to stop it ASAP. So I’m going to give this a go next year when I can afford it!

Duvetday8 · 14/09/2019 11:08

Also a runner.. I have Botox in my forehead and round eyes. Really happy with results. Doesn't hurt at all and you just can't run for 24hrs afterwards. Feel much more confident without makeup on now

m00rfarm · 14/09/2019 11:11

I had a lower facelift in March - the pics are not great as I do not have many before ones showing the issues. I am really happy with the results. Hopefully the pic will post otherwise I will try again.

Erm anyone had any “work done” to their face?
m00rfarm · 14/09/2019 11:16

These pics were taken about 6 weeks after surgery. Now you cannot see any marks unless you look closely under my chin. My hair covers up the scars behind my ears.

LilyRose88 · 14/09/2019 11:17

I had a lower facelift two years ago and my eyelids done at the same time. I am really happy with the results and can PM you the name of the surgeon who did it if you like. He has lots of before and after pictures on his website and is very clear about doing 'natural' work.

It is a major operation though and I had a lot of swelling and bruising afterwards. My surgeon was very candid about the immediate aftermath of the surgery and recovery time. I am absolutely delighted with the results. I rarely tell people in real life that I have had it done, although my close friends and family know. I have a tiny amount of botox in my frown lines, but nothing else. I still look like myself, but better and less tired.

Ticklemeelmo · 14/09/2019 11:17

I've never had work done but loads of my friends have had Botox, fillers and lip fillers and none of them look like they've had work done.

I think the trick with the lip filler is to have the smallest amount available, otherwise you look like a haddock

Ticklemeelmo · 14/09/2019 11:19

By the same token I've also seen loads of women out in public that look very obviously like they've had surgery- I guess this comes from having loads of stuff done rather than a few tweaks.

Changednamealready · 14/09/2019 11:37

Such an amazing thread thank you all for your honesty and sharing. Pics look great MOO you look natural.

Lily that would be great thank you if you would pm me !

I also see women walking around who look very done, I know some of my friends who no one would ever know ....

I just don’t want to look like a hound dog.

I also agree with the full night’s sleep comment. I notice I look so different after a rare good nights sleep.

@blueshoes sorry didn’t explain did I. Lower face lift to get rid of jowls and wrinkly neck. Looked amazing!

blueshoes · 14/09/2019 14:36

Thanks, Mrsgoggins Smile

So, you haven't had it but you say it is painful. I had no pain at all, some minor discomfort

Beauty editors who have procedures say it's painful and they have no reason to lie.

And your "minor discomfort" might be pain for the rest of us, we all have different pain thresholds.

I've never had my ears pierced either (far too old to have it done now,) but will never be persuaded that it doesn't hurt.

And most people aren't talkig about spending £££££s with a Harley St specialist either! That sounds like a completely different level of intervention compared with going to your local practice for some Botox.
