Stop all this highly irritating coyness.

Another one here with a really hot cycling DH. You could do your washing on his abs!

NoSauce · 13/09/2019 07:11

Why doesn’t it actually matter what the hobby is? Just make something up if need be.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/09/2019 07:13

"gaming for hours at a time in the evenings or at weekends ( which is usually referred to openly, not hidden as ‘his hobby’). To me that’s for adolescents with zero inner life."

How is it any worse than going on TV or on MN?

TheClitterati · 13/09/2019 07:13

The woman's hobby is always horses.

AliciaQuays · 13/09/2019 07:13

Because they don’t say. That’s why. 😂

My exh was into triathlons big style. Qualified to race for GB in his age group. He spent ALL of his time exercising, it was deeply dull. He'd get arsey & irritable if he couldn't exercise. I think he was avoiding family life.

Photography of the hanging about in the countryside waiting for the right light kind.

PollyPelargonium52 · 13/09/2019 07:15

It is the ones who say very little 'as it is outing' that get my goat. If you cannot write much then why bother to write at all?!

Littlemissdaredevil · 13/09/2019 07:16

Gaming. Shouting and screaming at a screen for hours. Complete waste of time and not even getting any exercise. Almost caused a divorce.

Alittleodd · 13/09/2019 07:17

I always think it's squash. Or cycling. Or golf. Or something else suitably wanky which conveniently requires entire weekends away and thousands of pounds of specialist equipment that makes you look like a twat.

I may have some unresolved issues around this.

I was going to whinge about how people are ridiculously unfair about gamers but I just referred to three perfectly innocent pastimes enjoyed by a huge chunk of the population as wanky so maybe I'm not really in a position of moral superiority.

Medieval folk dancing.

Learning german Hmm no different to my hobby of genealogy haha both a pair of geeks.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 13/09/2019 07:18

I always think cycling or fishing. Any hobby that involves buying a special foldable bed and tent so you can sleep comfortably on a river bank for hours a time surely is an indication of someone looking for a way out?

I’m phobic about fish. A special foldable tent to sleep comfortably on a riverbank for hours at a time on the other hand has a certain appeal...

kaytee87 · 13/09/2019 07:19

Oh nooo. I always imagine Mumsnet types as quite weird because they don’t answer the door or the phone. Therefore it’s some weird dungeons and dragon on line thing. (Then they get female friends they text a lot etc )

Are you not a mumsnet type too? After all, you're on mumsnet.

SleepyKat · 13/09/2019 07:19

I’m coy about it because it is outing. It’s an extreme sport which only a very small number of people do. So someone reads that, remembers what I do for a job, how old my dc is and I’ve outed myself.

Me too! I could take a book and one of those fishing beds. Bliss.....as long as I dont have to catch a fish!

Aposterhasnoname · 13/09/2019 07:20

My ex was into fishing. We went camping to flamingo land one time. I woke up early (4am) to find him missing, finally tracked him down fishing in the water at the bottom of the log flume. I wish I was joking!

ArtichokeAardvark · 13/09/2019 07:21

Airfix modelling. Disappears into the mancave for hours at a time with teeny tiny pliers and glue....

Either that or he's into dentistry for elves.

I absolutely guarantee that on the threads where DH is spending too much time with another woman, his hobby is not dungeons and dragons.

Those are the threads about whether OP should make their middle aged son move out.

itsme · 13/09/2019 07:23

Mine likes photography and spending too much money on lenses for his camera. He used to go clay shooting, but hasnt been for ages and sold his good shotgun.

ImperfectTents · 13/09/2019 07:23

Extreme kayaking is fairly outing! I kayak but not to an extreme. Tbh it's normally me sailing off into the sunset leaving dh holdng the fort #metoo

DwangelaForever · 13/09/2019 07:23

Football and gaming

BirthdayDreamer · 13/09/2019 07:24

"Definitely cycling. I see them on the roads and think, there goes some poor MNs husband." Grin Brilliant!

Itstheprinciple · 13/09/2019 07:25

I have a LARPer. He's done dressing up as an elf in the past but he doesn't so much do mystical type creatures now. But he does dress up as other characters and go away for weekends living in a fantasy world. When he's not away, he's designing and making costumes and props for said weekends.
