Aibu that vape smoke clouds have become more pungent and more dense in recent times. I was just walking down the road and had no choice but to breathe this sweet smelling nicotine in. The cloud was enormous and stayed around for sometime. AIBU to feel as though it's actually more annoying than cigarette smoke.

Yes, I think it smells disgusting, especially the fruity ones.

How do you know there was any nicotine content regardless of the unpleasantness?

Steam encourages the lungs to open up (which is why asthmatics are given neublisers) so surely the toxins (and vapes don't seem particularly well labelled in terms of ingredients) are able to penetrate the lungs more easily? Seems like another health scandal waiting to happen.

Vapes can be set to release massive clouds of vapour (not smoke) and it's not unreasonable to find that more annoying than smoke but it isn't massively logical.

Health wise, you're a lot better walking into a cloud of whatever vapour it is than into a cloud of cigarette smoke that's for sure. It also won't stick to your clothes etc in the same way so the effects are over and done with far quicker.

But was it vapour or nicotine? How would I know?

The nicotine goes straight into the vaper’s bloodstream. In any event, it’s not the nicotine from cigarette smoke that affects health, it’s the plethora of other chemicals it contains. Traffic emissions are far more damaging than smoke or vapour.

It's not worse than cigarette smoke, for the simple reason that it doesn't contain tobacco, which contains the carcinogens. Those vape clouds are unpleasant, I agree (and completely unnecessary, since you can choose an inhalator that doesn't include blowing out clouds of smelly steam).

It really concerns me for the sake of allergens, I don’t know what Harry’s vape flavour of choice is until it whacks me in the face. I have a child with multiple serious allergies and react badly to fragrances myself.

It lingers longer than cig smoke and it’s twice (atleast) the cloud per puff. I used to call my ex a glade plug in.. he might as well have been an oversized weird smelling air freshener with his vape.

Don't know about the health implications, but the smell. I am a smoker, I generally go outside to smoke because my Partner doesn't. My Partner thinks it fine to vape away right next to me and can't understand when I go 'that fucking stinks'. He now has to go outside too. It's horribly sickly sweet.

Unreasonable. People who bang on about 2nd hand smoke do get on my tits. Unless you are cooped indoors with these pungent shits, you are outside for christ's sake, so walk on! There is AIR around you. Sky. Birds. Maybe even trees if you are lucky. You are outside, not rammed, head in, into some hellish anus of smoke. You won't die from it.

I used to smoke menthol fags but gave up. Never used vape. if something smells unpleasant near me, I move away quickly, without a sense that my health has been endangered and 5 years of my life expectation taken away.

YABU... because second hand vape contains next to nothing, and you certainly aren't inhaling nicotine from it, the person vaping may not even be vaping any nicotine at all - I am sometimes vaping CBD and sometimes 0 nic. juice.

YANBU to not want to walk through clouds of it if you don't like the smell though, but simply walk around, it doesn't travel in the same way smoke does and is far easier to avoid.

Yes. Polluted, toxin-filled air that causes death for hundreds of asthmatics every year. Air isn't some magic substance that stops smoke being harmful if you get a lungful of it from the chap walking in front of you.

Yes it's an aerosol, just like the visible 'steam' from a kettle or in your shower are an aerosol (actual steam is not visible). All that means is it's a suspension of fine liquid droplets in air.
