New family just moved in to a rented house technically down the side of our house. They have 4 cars, one parking space. The street has space for 5 cars in total, so they deem this a suitable place to park - right across our drive.

Having asked them to move it, I got told they have nowhere to park and he doesn’t want his daughter walking too far to get to her car. Aibu to think we shouldn’t be inconvenienced because these people didn’t think ahead when deciding to rent this house, and what the hell can you do in these circumstances?

We’ve had nothing since Sunday, he skulked past yesterday when I was getting in the car without even looking up from the ground. Funny thing is, the cars aren’t even parked on the street now. They must’ve magically found enough parking now they’re not trying to be dicks to us.

That's good 😊

Yaaaaaaaaaay!! Time to get back to enjoying life! Great job! Star

IWorkAtTheCheescakeFactory · 14/11/2019 19:25

Oh wow OP! SO glad the council lady pulled through for you!

In your shoes though I would be parking across that corner exactly as they have been doing. You are allowed to do that as it’s your own drive you’d be blocking.

elmosducks · 14/11/2019 19:47

Hurrah!!!!

justilou1 · 14/11/2019 22:19

I take it he’s been ballsacked at work! Wish I knew the contents of the letter!!! Congrats, OP!!! May it last!!!

CanuckBC · 14/11/2019 23:14

Thank you council lady! With your complaint and the council lady and her boss saying it’s illegal and what is this arse of a family doing he’s been spoken and told to smarten up!

I am sure it’s gone down hill in the police office as shit rolling often does! It would be interesting to hear it go down.

yuiop · 19/11/2019 04:30

Is it all still going well op?

SterlingViolet · 24/11/2019 08:10

Things still going OK, @Burtiebojangles?

I do hope all is well.

Burtiebojangles · 24/11/2019 09:16

Thank you for all your messages. It’s all been quiet since 😁.

The council lady told me that the guy rang her once he got the letter and told her he had no idea this was going on... the same excuse he used when the police man rang him months before 😂 muppet.

My police complaint is now being investigated and has gone to the superintendent. Feel a bit awkward that it’s going to be brought up again now it’s all stopped but then I think he’s playing dumb with it still soooo... fuck him.

You have nothing to lose by putting in a complaint. He has actually shot himself in the foot by lying to the council woman...

Tistheseason17 · 24/11/2019 13:32

I'm glad you made the complaint. The line has been drawn in the sand and he cannot do anything more, now :)

scrumptiousbears · 25/11/2019 10:25

Don't feel bad the complaint being looked at by the Supt. He is a bully and it needs addressing.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 25/11/2019 12:53

Go op! Just rtft, so glad you got it sorted.

Burtiebojangles · 13/01/2020 09:37

Hi everyone. Just thought I’d pop back with the resolution of the police complaint...

‘No wrongdoing’.

Unfortunately my son ended up needing a third surgery. We were referred to another hospital that isn’t local to us and it turned out that a lot of the problems he was having were actually caused by the errors with his previous surgeries, so it’s been a lot to deal and come to terms with. Someone from the police rang my husband asking for me (I gave them my details with the complaints?!) on the day we were in hospital for the surgery. I got an email saying they can’t get in touch with me but having just started back at work on top of all this, I forgot about it pretty quickly. But, this was over a month ago and I received a letter this weekend stating my failure to engage means the case is closed, which is fair enough. I was over it, I was happy with the resolution with the council etc. Then I saw his report...

The cheeky fuckers had put in a complaint against us saying we were harassing them!!!! Apparently we were making written threats, making false reports to the police and banging their door down constantly. Which is hilarious but kind of contradicts his claims to the council that he had no idea this was going on...

It says that the assault on my husband was filed as there was ‘no complaint’ and that both parties were advised. Nobody ever got in touch with us about that, of course we had a complaint against that.

They admitted that the police officer that came out that we named in the complaint did know the prick that caused all of this but denies that his manner was dismissive and sarcastic. I mean, he told us that he was only here about a parking complaint when we were telling him about the problems we were having and asked us why we park on our drive if we can get blocked in... that’s reasonable apparently.

It was all just passed off as a parking complaint, no mention at all of their harassment, threats and using his job title to intimidate us and how they’ve passed it off for mediation now.

I don’t know why I’m surprised that they continue to protect their own and that this prick knows exactly how to play the system.

I spent far too long on Saturday putting together a response to let him know that his officer was threatened with legal action filling council investigations and collation of evidence, pointing out the errors in his report and declining mediation but I’ve spent the rest of the time anxious as fuck that I should have just left it.

I’d not leave it. I think I’d want the false record on my family expunged! I’d insist that it was and ensure the record was put straight by addressing my letter to all the people above him at work and cc in the council official dealing with it.

Bumblebutts · 14/01/2020 18:13

Wow, what arses.
I dont think I would leave it either especially as they are just covering their own backs. Why do they have to be so corrupt, give decent officers a bad name.

Blurby · 27/01/2020 00:15

Oh my goodness @Burtiebojangles! What a rubbish situation. I really hope you're son is now getting the medical attention and care he so deserves. It's so awful you've been so stressed with that and then this awful bombshell hits in the form of the report!

What happens now? I think you've done the right thing responding. The neighbour is a manipulative and lying dick.

SmellyBeard · 01/02/2020 23:47

I've only just read this thread and am so so angry on your behalf. I honestly don't know how you've held it together dealing with all this on your mat leave with a new baby who needs medical care. I hope it is sorted now and the stupid little fuckers have backed off.

It's so depressing to read about the police report. Just erodes any faith in them as a service. Too many stories of them protecting their own at the expense of vulnerable people.

Ineedanap90 · 02/02/2020 19:09

Read through the thread I hope you're all okay and your little boy is doing well. Honestly boils my blood entitled people like this and how dismissive the police are.. Well done on sending back all the details from the council (that lady is a hero) have they at least still not been blocking you? Or have they returned to their old ways?

busybarbara · 02/02/2020 19:31

do you realise you have to report any disputes between neighbours?

This rule is the biggest pile of nonsense. If the OP truthfully declared this dispute, absolutely no one with any sense would want to buy the property and it would have a value of next to nothing. That’s not right.

ErrmWTAF · 02/02/2020 19:50

Get a big 4x4 and, whenever you're blocked in, drive across their lawn, bonus points if you do a few donuts on the way. #nothelpful
