New family just moved in to a rented house technically down the side of our house. They have 4 cars, one parking space. The street has space for 5 cars in total, so they deem this a suitable place to park - right across our drive.

Having asked them to move it, I got told they have nowhere to park and he doesn’t want his daughter walking too far to get to her car. Aibu to think we shouldn’t be inconvenienced because these people didn’t think ahead when deciding to rent this house, and what the hell can you do in these circumstances?

OP have you considered approaching the profession standards unit regarding the conduct of the police officer(s) considering the person you are complaining about is also allegedly as police officer?

Tistheseason17 · 06/11/2019 17:58

I like what @scrumptiousbears says ^^

Burtiebojangles · 06/11/2019 19:02

@Scrumptiousbears that’s who the complaint went to by the looks of it, I’ve just double checked and it says: The police record all complaints and each force has a Professional Standards Department (PSD) to receive and investigate complaints.

I have to stop myself feeling bad, I don’t ever want to be the person who affects someone’s livelihood but we gave them every chance to be reasonable. He can get a new job and find a new house, I can’t ever relive this time with my first child and that’s when I get really fierce mama about it and think they deserve everything they have coming to them.

Stay strong OP! 💪
You are doing the right thing.

StoneofDestiny · 06/11/2019 22:40

Wow - Don't feel sorry for the bully!

Weenurse · 08/11/2019 09:07

I am glad your baby is improving

Burtiebojangles · 08/11/2019 09:45

@weenurse thank you. He’s caught my cold now though so he’s a very miserable baby today, bless him.

I don’t want to get my hopes up prematurely but I’ve got a feeling something has happened. The last two nights they’ve actually parked on the street!! The daughter came back and put her car across the road yesterday, she’d usually park across our drive even if she had her own parking space with guaranteed lottery win to park there. I can’t imagine they’ve just decided to be decent people.

Here’s hoping something has been done! You deserve to feel safe and happy in your home, free from this stress.

ChikiTIKI · 08/11/2019 14:10

That's amazing! Somehow they have realised how to act normally. Hope they keep it up!

Tistheseason17 · 08/11/2019 16:52

oooh, fingers crossed the harrassment has stopped! :)

Burtiebojangles · 10/11/2019 13:19

That was short lived. The little twat has even moved our bin in front of our car.

Oh fgs they need to get a grip. Honestly even I’m getting mad with them and it doesn’t even effect me so god knows how you’re feeling! Hope it gets sorted properly for you soon.

Burtiebojangles · 10/11/2019 14:23

I really hope karma is going to be a cold hearted bitch to them.

ChikiTIKI · 10/11/2019 14:24

Well that's very annoying. I wonder it its all part of their games and they wanted to trick you in to thinking they aren't dicks for a minute.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 10/11/2019 15:37

You need to get CCTV so you can show things like them moving the bin. You will soon collect enough evidence to prove that this is harassment.

StoneofDestiny · 10/11/2019 15:52

Tell me these shit stirrers are not really in the police?

lonelyonee · 10/11/2019 16:58

Oh ffs just when you think it's done!
Haha can you imagine if you got cctv and you actually caught the PARENTS moving the bin etc... that would be incredible!!!
Might be worth the investment, you can get cameras pretty cheap nowadays and you'll only need the one!
Hope you and your little one are doing okay though x

Aridane · 10/11/2019 19:27

Goodness

Tistheseason17 · 10/11/2019 21:39

Netatmo is great. Just put a small sticker in your window advising CCTV in place 😁

MaButterface · 10/11/2019 22:34

If you live near me I'd lend you our CCTV cams. These people are utter dicks!

Burtiebojangles · 11/11/2019 16:50

I actually put our baby monitor in the window after catching the woman taking photos of our house to make it look like CCTV, after that I did see the daughter skirt around the edge of the drive to get in her car rather than brazenly walking on it. Still smug enough to park there though.

BUT, we have good news! Spoke to the lady at the council today, she now has everything she needs to serve them their arse on a plate. They either need to stop or face legal action. This woman is an absolute angel! She’s spoken to his boss too which is probably why they stopped until yesterday, but the kid getting cocky isn’t helping their cause.

Basically they can’t park there, it is a dropped kerb which means if we choose to use it as a drive, it’s a drive, nobody can say otherwise. But they’re completely in the wrong with no leg to stand on and they’re also deemed, in the council’s eyes, to have parking space comfortably for 3 cars so they’re choosing to cause obstruction to us which isn’t legal.

Imagine though, thinking you’re so entitled and that your job puts you so far above society that you’re getting bollocked at work and being investigated by the council when you could have just parked on your own drive. Bizarre.

Thank you for all the support everyone. Mumsnet really has helped me through this shit show.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 11/11/2019 17:18

That all sounds like good news. Fingers crossed.

Sleepycat91 · 11/11/2019 17:20

Police can remove vehicles for obstruction. Call 101 next time. Youve asked nicely x

RandomMess · 11/11/2019 17:23

Just can't believe what arses they are, the mind does boggle!

Winesalot · 11/11/2019 17:29

Result!!!

Hope it is works out smoothly from now.

And if I was his boss, I’d seriously send that man to traffic school if I had to keep him on!
