To think that anyone that thinks Ed Sheeran isn't talented hasn't got a clue!

Just been listening to some of his stuff and he has dueted with so many different styles of people and is so versatile as both a singer and a song writer. If you can't see that you must be blind...

It’s not my taste in music, I find him dull but I’d agree he is talented. The main thing that annoys me is that people talk about his looping like he invented it, it’s been used for donkeys years.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 12/09/2019 08:48

I really like him. His latest collaborations album is really good, I love the ones with Eminem, Chance and Rapper, Travis Scott and Yebba. I've seen him in concert a few times and he's amazing. His Wembley concert that I went to was one of the best concerts I've been to.

I don't know why some people say he's full of himself as he doesn't come across that way at all. He seems to be well liked within the industry, other artists that I like who also seem nice always say how down to earth and what a nice guy he is. I also know a few people who have met him through work or as a fan and they've all said he's been genuinely kind, professional and humble when they've spoken to him.

He's not to everyone's taste but who is.

OwlBeThere · 12/09/2019 08:51

‘A bunch of plagiarism lawsuits’
‘Most of his songs are plagiarised’

He’s written probably hundreds of songs at this point, as far as I know there have been 3 lawsuits. The Matt Cardle/photograph one, Let’s get it on/thinking out loud and castle on the hill. That hardly constitutes most of his songs.
I quite like him, but I agree with posters who say there is a difference between talent and personal taste. I think Beyoncé is undoubtedly talented but it’s not my thing and I wouldn’t buy her music, for example.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 12/09/2019 08:58

And he loves cats so that makes him even better in my eyes. Wink

TravellingSpoon · 12/09/2019 09:03

He is talented and brilliant live.

However I think he tries quite hard to appear to be cool rather than just being himself. His latest album has several references to his drug taking. Make him sounds a bit insecure and try-hard

RuffleCrow · 12/09/2019 09:06

He's moderately talented but I find him quite bland and mediocre for my tastes. He doesn't really have an ear for inventive melody or a mind made for interesting lyrics. And his voice is weak.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 12/09/2019 10:23

He's talented in his genre. He's a talented songwriter. He's just not to my taste. Doesn't negate his talent though

ImpracticalCape · 12/09/2019 11:43

I only know that appalling Sheets smell of you song. It's the kind of music I can't stand but I'm sure he's very talented. However I think he's a boring creepy little goblin.

Enb76 · 12/09/2019 11:53

I don't deny that he's a musician but I'm not sure that makes him talented. I don't think he has a great voice, I think he's derivative, his lyric choices are not particularly poetic or insightful and he doesn't have a brilliant ear for an inventive melodic line.

Still, he sells a lot of music so he must appeal to a lot of people but he's not to my taste and I'm genuinely surprised he's so popular.

Montsti · 12/09/2019 11:56

I was never a big fan but went to see him in concert earlier this year. He was amazing! So talented and does everything by himself...his chat in between songs was great and very entertaining too.

Propertyofhood · 12/09/2019 16:52

Yeah, like, Perfect or Thinking Out Loud are lovely songs to listen to, but actually they are really boring and uninnovative.

My favourite song of his is Give Me Love, but even that is pretty bland tbh.

nonmerci · 12/09/2019 16:56

I think he’s average really, nothing breathtaking.

dollydaydream114 · 12/09/2019 16:57

Personally I've zero opinion on him. I know what he looks like but that's pretty much it - he's just not on my radar. I don't think I could even name, or hum, one of his songs.

Generally speaking, I think getting annoyed because other people don't like your favourite pop star is the sort of thing that should probably stop at the age of around 14.

ethelredonagoodday · 12/09/2019 17:03

@FamilyOfAliens has it right.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

Is anyone getting annoyed on here? I hadn’t noticed.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/09/2019 17:48

He's alright. Just don't get how he went from songs like A Team to Galway Girl.. Shape of you and Castle on the hill.. His latest ones have been pretty bad and so over played but each to their own.

Ohbehave1 · 12/09/2019 19:34

@dollydate114. Whose getting annoyed lol

HeresMe · 12/09/2019 19:46

He's just bland middle of road of road music that is boring, that for some reason is popular

At a risk of lumping ginger's together but it isn't he's the same as simply red back in the day just boring catchy tunes.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 12/09/2019 21:44

Plus Galway Girl makes me stabby. Did he have a checklist of Irish stereotypes?

Hellomatey001 · 12/09/2019 21:59

For all the "nice guy" image, he's written some rather questionable songs too. "Don't" is a song he admitted was about Ellie Goulding where he basically slut shames her. It's a pretty angry song yet no one really pulled him up on this public humiliation of her ( like they do with Taylor Swift and complain about her using her songs for revenge).

Similarly Shape of you is very sex pesty.

And Galway Girl makes me want to cut off my ears.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 12/09/2019 22:13

I'm pretty sure he's always refused to comment on who it's about although people speculated. But if you cheat on a singer, expect a song to be written about it, hardly slut shaming. Just don't cheat. I love Taylor Swift too.

I don't know what's 'sex pesty' about Shape of You. Confused

It's just music.

willstarttomorrow · 12/09/2019 22:16

I have an old trusty rusty car, so no dab radio or blue tooth. I had the pleasure of driving the 5 hours from south back home on a sunday when he had released his collaboration album on the world. People may not realise this, but on a sunday afternoon most radio stations consider all their listeners become 110 years old so unless you want to listen to Gardeners Question time or Elaine Paige then you are left with the chart countdown.
Bloody hell, even DD and her friend at 13 years old were bored of him. Every second song was ES!
So whilst he may be talented at what he does, he is so bloody ever present with a song that sounds like the last one. I realise that I sound like the old gimmer I am, but the relentless factory of his music just undermines any talent he may have.

Ilikeanimalsmorethanpeople · 12/09/2019 22:18

I don't like him at all but has anyone else seen the telletubbies dancing to him? Your welcome

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 12/09/2019 22:47

I’ve always thought him quite nice and fairly inoffensive. We recently got given free tickets to one of his homecoming gigs in Suffolk. I wasn’t particularly fussed about going but I’m glad I did, he was bloody amazing. He had no back up band, nothing, just him and his guitar and loop pedal and he had 40,000 people eating out of his hand for nearly two hours. He has been on tour for months and it showed, he was word perfect, note perfect and the sheer energy was infectious. The crowd absolutely loved him and the atmosphere was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn’t have to worry about my twelve year old daughter watching it with me, she enjoyed it too. I know we don’t all have the same taste in music but he did a great job that night and really doesn’t deserve such spite.
