To think that anyone that thinks Ed Sheeran isn't talented hasn't got a clue!

Just been listening to some of his stuff and he has dueted with so many different styles of people and is so versatile as both a singer and a song writer. If you can't see that you must be blind...

I’d rather admit to cluelessness than agree with you about Ed Sheeran’s talent.

Samcro · 11/09/2019 20:34

He is not to my taste, i find hiis stuff boring
But then i prefer metal and rock and a bit of rag n bone man
Saying people are jealous is plain daft

LellyMcKelly · 11/09/2019 20:37

He’s talented, yes, but I just don’t like most of songs, same as Adele and Coldplay and Amy Winehouse. They all have/had talent but I always change the radio station when they’re on. They just don’t do it for me.

Ohbehave1 · 11/09/2019 20:38

@samcro. I am a metal head too. But can't help but like him.

That said, he comes across as a genuinely nice guy and I don’t wish him any harm.

Geschwister4 · 11/09/2019 20:40

If you like him then great. I can't quite understand why you care whether other people think he is talented or not, unless you are his Mum Confused

LellyMcKelly · 11/09/2019 20:41

Galway Girl makes me want to drive a rusty nail through my brain just to escape it.

FamilyOfAliens · 11/09/2019 20:41

If you like his kind of music, you’ll like him.

Marc Riley wouldn’t play his records on 6 Music in a million years, and that’s my benchmark Grin

colourlessgreenidea · 11/09/2019 20:44

If you like his kind of music, you’ll like him.

“People who like this sort of thing will find that this is the sort of thing they like” Grin

SoyDora · 11/09/2019 20:44

Galway Girl is a fucking awful song and my view of him will be forever tainted due to that.
I’m sure he’s very good at what he does. However I do not enjoy his music.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 11/09/2019 20:45

He's naff. Cringey, shit rhyming lyrics. I have to switch radio stations if he comes on.

I do admire anyone who can write music and play an instrument but he's not outstanding at either of those.

TooMuch87 · 11/09/2019 20:47

I disagree that he’s a versatile songwriter. Every song he’s given to another artist (whether Rita Ora, One Direction, Anne Marie, Justin Bieber, Hilary Duff, Boyzone etc) has a distinct ‘Ed Sheeran’ feel to it.

It’s his lyrics that are a real turn off for me though. Just a random example (and not his worst by any means) from the last Westlife single: “Cause you could have someone without a belly or a temper / Perfect teeth, hair growing where it's meant to.”

Those ‘relatable’ style lyrics from Sheeran make me cringe. I could do without the mental image of Westlife having hair growing in places it’s not supposed to. I like my popstars to be glossy, polished and unobtainable thank you.

PositiveVibez · 11/09/2019 20:47

r/niceguy rather than a genuinely nice guy. He gives me the creeps.

He is a cheesemeister, but apparently that's what the majority of people enjoy.

Personally, I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than listen to one of his tedious odes, so I must be clueless 🤷. Happy to be.

lboogy · 11/09/2019 20:47

I was saying this recently. The guy his one hell of a talent. His song writing is without match in the last 20 years I'd say

womaninthedark · 11/09/2019 20:49

I've never heard anything by Ed Sheeran that I've wanted to hear again.

x2boys · 11/09/2019 20:49

It's not that people don't think he's talented but musical taste is very subjective .You can think someone is talented but not actually like their music

allthingsred · 11/09/2019 20:50

I think he's obviously really talented. But so overplayed. his songs which are brilliant, I personally get sick & tired of hearing or worse the vvv overplayed ones become cheesy.

Drogosnextwife · 11/09/2019 20:52

I think most of his songs are pretty crap. Especially the duets.

SilverySurfer · 11/09/2019 20:53

I can go one better, I've never heard of him.

Jojoanna · 11/09/2019 20:54

Can’t stand Galway girl and find him boring to watch

lazylinguist · 11/09/2019 20:55

Well, he can write very popular songs and can sing and play well. Anyone who can do that is talented, obviously. But considering his level of success I don't think he's more talented than lots of other people. I find his songs mostly either boring or a bit cringy.

BrokenWing · 11/09/2019 20:55

Don't mind his songs on the radio but wouldn't buy/listen to an album.

Some of his songs/performances I have seen where he sang live (on tv) I thought were exceptional, others mediocre. He can be a bit hit and miss.

He isn't legend material but is very talented.

Bellsofstclements · 11/09/2019 20:58

9 people wrote Galway Girl. 9. People.

MemphisMum · 11/09/2019 20:58

sorry what do those (on this thread) who dislike him, not "have a clue" about? exactly?

PickAChew · 11/09/2019 20:58

His music isn't really my cup of tea but yes, he is good and could have a long career ahead of him because he strikes me as a musician who is capable of being far more versatile than his single releases demonstrate.
